Speaking of Pokemon Abridged's, 1kids released his Pokemon 'bridged, here

Really nicely put together. I didn't really laugh too much, but it was a very solid debut for a series (I'd probably say better than my first episode, but in my defense, it was the first time I'd done ANYTHING. :D). I'm really gonna say it comes down to humor styles; I just think 1Kids has a different sense of humor than I do, so a lot of his things don't really "work" for me.

That said, I wish him all the best, and hope he continues. I'd really like to have another Pokemon (Season 1) Abridged that was of actual quality to compare results with, and I think 1Kids and co. fit the bill wonderfully.

Well, if you wanted to compare THAT, then you could take a look at the old Pokemon Abridged I did when I started abridging (about 3 months before I gave up on it and started Death Note)

And I think honestly, it is clear you are the victor there. My original Pokemon Abridged had a couple jokes (the best of which I rewrote and salvaged for this episode) which weren't performed well, as well as bad editing, bad voice acting reliant on pitch change....

And it was STILL a better pilot than my Death Note pilot, XD.

I thought it was quite enjoyable. It's always nice to see another alternative good take on a series you're doing.

Probably one of the strongest Pokemon Abridged pilots I've seen - better than my own I reckon.

Meh, now here's an exercise of mediocrity. ZeroMaster's Mega Man Abridged Episode 13

God, it's so... self-indulgent (seriously, NCing your OWN episode instead of the actual episode), and stealing from the NC is not the problem, it's EMULATING him, using his own jokes and what have you with no hint of originality.

You guys just like it because you're in it.

No in all serious that was a great start. Can you believe I never noticed before that Poliwag was a pencil sharpener? I think I always thought it was a rubber dart stuck to a Poliwag because of the lips looking like a plunger.

I liked the use of the game footage. Actually I don't think I've seen an abridged series that used the game footage instead of showing the fight animation... that's something worth a gag.

It's always great when Ash gets slapped more than he originally did. That was probably my favorite part.

I had my doubts on how this episode would pan out differently than other Pokemon abridged series but the reversed clips being used to rewrite the story worked really well. I'm looking forward to more.

Zeromaster's 13th episode was painful. Perhaps more so than even some of his others. I guess the NC parody wasn't actually too bad and I liked that he lampooned himself a lot in that episode but it was still just bad. I will admit I got a good laugh out of the opening line though. "I'm Zeromaster, I abridged it so you don't have to" ain't that the freak'n truth? XD

Yep. Couldn't agree with you more here Juu-Kuchi.
This episode seemed to have even less originality than his others and that's saying something, considering how often Zero has been known to overuse memes. I like Nostalgia Critic, but come on.
Perhaps the unoriginality of the NC joke was highlighted even more by the fact that I recently watched Tide Parody Episode 2 and it started off with a just as ineffective (albeit shorter) NC "parody" as well.

Teamfourstar Podcast Ep. 3 is up! (http://www.tfsabridged.com/podcast/TFS%20Podcast%20003.mp3 if you're not subscribed)

This one's only 16 and half minutes, but at least it's out pretty soon after the last one.

More after I finish listening.

Right out of the gate they talk about their Plutonian joke in episode 12, so it's a good listen for us.

Plus, they talk about how great we can expect real Namek to be.

Also, Lani's going to be at Anime Detour and Taka's going to be at Sakura-Con. What the hell, Anime Boston?

Then they talk about the new NTAS, YYHA, LK special, and Antfish special.

I don't have a problem with the Nostalgia Critic themed episode per se. I think he was simply trying to be creative, introducing a different narration device for one of his episodes. And I applaud him for that.

But as far as humor goes, yeah, it wasn't that good. But even so, it probably was one of his better Mega Man episodes. (Note that I don't think very highly of his series, and I'm simply comparing this episode with his others.) So while I certainly wouldn't recommend this episode to a friend, I'll be fair and say it isn't as bad as Cage and Juukuchi make it out to be (at least that's my opinion).

... though bringing back Gutsman's ass makes this episode lose a lot of points.
I fail to see the humor in that gag.

Perhaps the unoriginality of the NC joke was highlighted even more by the fact that I recently watched Tide Parody Episode 2 and it started off with a just as ineffective (albeit shorter) NC "parody" as well.
This is true.
While I don't have a problem with him testing out this different narration device, I do take issue with it being overused. I don't mind running gags that permeate through a series or series, but a big homage like that should be used sparingly. Putting this same gag in two different video series back-to-back like that is overdoing it I think. He probably should have cut the Rukia one, but what is done is done.

A new episode of The Abridging of Haruhi Suzumiya is out. Highlights inculde charging Taniguchi and Kunikida $50 a piece for the food, and Haruhi playing random anime themes. Downside are that i did not recognize most of the songs she sings and i alot of Yuki's lines were too fast paced too follow.

Okay, here's my thoughts on things:

Pokémon 'Bridged: A very solid starting point for the series. I loved the reverse-play at the end of the episode, and the cast was very nice. Not too many laugh-aloud moments, but I was smiling the entire way through the production. Unfortunately, the editing with masking at the end was a bit cruddy, and the mic quality was very mixed. But I found it enjoyable, so I'll keep watching.

MegaMan Abridged 13: A giant mistake. I have to agree with Juu with the fact that if you're going to do a NC thing, do it with someone else's video. Hell, going back to an old episode and commentating on it is a half-decent idea in and of itself. But all Zero did is a bad mix of both: Making fun of the dub, but bringing NO new material to the table. Aside from Big-Lipped-Wheel-Gator-Moment (which is only on the border of a "homage"), the rest is regurgitated NC jokes. Just plain bad, in my opinion.

Harry Potter Abridged: So flat-out hilarious. I mean, I feel this is more of a troll than anything. I mean, there is a "F**K I was meant to dub that, wasn't I?" And just hearing things about Dudley's cupcakes, his dad's bacon, and Draco's gangsta talk is flat-out makes me LOL. I'm also enjoying the second movie, with Dobby and the flying car.

Haruhi Abridged 11: Honestly, this was really, really bland. No real jokes in it whatsoever. I mean, the $50 thing was kinda nice, and Yuki's divination is amusing for the first few seconds. But overall, the rest is just... boring. And the anime songs were not so funny. Really, ANOTHER Cutie Honey and Fubuki thing? It's as if they and Haruhi were the only anime he knew. =/

Also, the opening was... lame. Complaining about the Mikuru movie, only to go and complain about Season 2? And end it with a 'b*tch?' Seems like a cop-out to me.

The Harry Potter thing I just couldn't watch. I love that series way too much to see it abridged, whether it's abridged well or not.

The Haruhi video, having never seen any previous work of the creator, nor the original content, was as Eze said, somewhat bland. The pitch change on that one character just ruined any lines that could have been funny. Otherwise, the concept of always scene changing on the word "B*tch!" could have been amusing, especially if bleeped out.

1kid's P:TBS - Very solid. I liked the3 voicies and alot of the jokes were creative (especially using actual game footage and the slap thing). I look forward to more.

Zero's Megaman - Gah. I have to agree with Sam on the gutsman's ass thing, I don't get it or find it funny. I think the NC thing would of made a great opening ("I abridge it so you don't have to" was a great shot at himself). But it got over used very quickly. All in all, solid editing kinda but poorly executed jokes.

There has been a small lapse of episodes from some of the more heavy weight abridge series. Though if they keep producing things as epic as Unwardil's latest video, I won't complain:

is it just me or did haruhi feel like as it ended, the episode felt more normal and natural and the rest was a waste? I think that the episode improved a bit with yuki saying cracker I be playing the guitar...
but the rest of the episode felt like a cluster screw...like season 2 =3

Well here's a pleasant surprise. After like... ages, Fruits Basket Abridged Episode 4 is up. While I didn't find it quite as great as I thought it would be, there were still a lot of moments that induced smiles (if not laughs), from the Phoenix Wright cameo, 'Kyo's' Twitter, and of course everybody giving an eager, and well-acted performance on all fronts.

???

Umm... sorry?
*Has no idea what he did*
I dunno, but Mynd's gonna be pissed about the off-topicness, So yeah, back on topic, umm, Something about Fruits Basket Abridged?

Moderator Edit: Yes, several posts were deleted. Thank you for keeping off-topic tangents to a minimum.

Sorry. Didn't mean to get off topic.
The creator of that episode made a comment about my cameo in said episode, and I responded with a joke. I'm sorry if that joke took us too far off of the discussion at hand.

But generally I liked it. I thought Faith's Melody was well cast, and the crazy obsessive girlfriend jokes were well done.

What are your thoughts on the episode, Paradox?
Were you apologizing to me? Cos I don't mind .
And, I liked the episode too, although I haven't seen Fruits Basket yet, so the backstory didn't make sense to me

I guess all the great series that haven't updated in forever are updating now. AngelElric really did a great job with this one, as did the entire cast, especially khenpoe in an important episode for him.

Step aside, Killerdoegirl.

Death Note representin'!

It just goes to show you.... you don't need a camera taping a screen to make an extremely funny abridged series.

This is a couple months old, but I'm almost positive this hasn't been mentioned before. So why not?

My favorite part was when you could hear the VA's laughing at their geniusness right before Raye dies.

Edit: Someone needs to make a TV Tropes page for this person.
