I'm curious what they mean by "new" dubs. I know they were planning to dub some of the later Heisei movies.

"Amazon Tried Dubbing Anime With AI…It Went As Well As You’d Expect"

"Perhaps there’s no such thing as a free lunch after all. A lot of companies are getting blinded by tech bro promises of AI algorithms delivering something for nothing, and Amazon apparently bought into the belief that anime dubs — tricky endeavors that require careful direction to preserve the spirit of the Japanese performances — were something that could be entirely automated.

AI dubs of Banana Fish, No Game, No Life Zero, Pet and Journal of the Mysterious Creatures appeared in both English and Latin American Spanish earlier this week, along with a Latin American Spanish AI dub for Vinland Saga. Backlash was immediate, and not just because the corporate use of AI is controversial. The results were just plain terrible.

Remember the dawning days of anime when the few titles that made it over to the West were given complete hack-job dubs that sounded embarrassing? Remember stilted dialogue, terrible acting, bad voice impressions and a complete loss of the original meaning? They’re all back, thanks to these things. After a near-universal wave of negativity from both anime fans and the industry, most of the dubs were removed from Amazon’s servers yesterday, with the remainder vanishing this morning."

"Yesterday, following the end of chapter 222 of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “Chainsaw Man”, his famous one-shot creation, “Look Back” has been announced to get a live-action movie adaptation.

The beloved one-shot manga, published in 2021, focuses on a young boy named Ayumu Fujino who has a talent for drawing manga, but is lauded by his skills. One day, he was asked by his teacher to hand over one of his strips to a girl in his class named Kyomoto and since then, the two have been working together on many one-shots, until they were approached by a major publisher for serialization but disagrements led into a split. The manga was adapted once into an anime movie from Studio Duran in 2024 which became of the greatest “universally-acclaimed” anime films of the year.

The live-action movie adaptation of the manga will be written for the screen, directed and edited by legendary filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda. Prior to filming, Kore-eda had discovered the manga when he was walking in Tokyo and later, producer Daiju Koide approached Kore-eda for a movie adaptation offer, which he later accepted. Filming took place in Nikaho, Akita Prefecture and was immediately in the editing and finishing process when the film was announced."

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
