First I only read issue 12 of the series back in the time I though Grant Morrison was a terrible writer, I despised that issue. Little by little I started enjoying Morrison's book, so I decided to give this feature a try

I love it, not as good as the other Superman features I saw, but it's good
Touching ending for a touching film

4.5/5

I enjoyed it, my husband didn't. He doesn't really like *hokey* Superman. It probably was a story that worked better in comic book form since it seemed very segmented. However, I really dug how it looped back into DC One Million, which is one of my favorite comic book crossovers of all time.

I would give it 3.5 probably if I had to give it a number grade.

After seeing the amount of detail that they put in on the newspaper in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies I thought I'd check what the newspapers here had to say.

So that's the first one, offers more details on what exactly was Luthor's plans.

And here's the second one I noticed

It would appear to be just gibberish. Either the team got lazy, or maybe Bar-El & Lilo forced the population to print in Kryptonian, but that doesn't make sense since the headline is in English.

Also sidenote, did anyone notice Superman's bulge throughout the movie?

@ Jade_GL: Nice to see some love for DC 1,000,000! That series was highly underrated, and a lot of fun. Track down a copy of 'DC 80-page Giant #1,000,000' if you don't already have it. It features material written by Grant Morrison that is NOT included in the 1,000,000 TPB, and gives a deeper look into the Universe of the 853rd Century.

@ suss2it: Awesome! Thanks for sharing the screen caps; the Luthor one is cool [and well written], too bad they didn't take the time to write something for the Bar-El & Lilo page.

LOL! Ever watch Labyrinth?

I stand by the 5 I gave this film. I've watched it several times now, both with and without the commentary, and I still love it.

I've made an effort to share this wonderful film with as many people as are interested [and some that aren't ;)]. I'm showing it to my best friend this weekend; he's a huge Superman fan, especially the Christopher Reeves movies. I will report back here with his reaction after he's seen it.

as a side note, here is the program for the 'Superhero Film Festival' that I'm showing this coming Saturday:

Short Subject: DC Showcase: Jonah Hex [Warner Bros 2010, 12 min, blu ray]
*******
Feature Presentation: All-Star Superman [Warner Bros 2011, 76 min, blu ray]
*******
Midnight Movie: Hulk Vs Wolverine [Marvel Animation 2008, 37 min, blu ray]
*******
Total running time for all 3 films is 125 minutes

Had a day off, so I watched this again. I think it's better upon repeated viewings. There's still some things that I'm not crazy about: Jimmy's cross dressing and the lack of explanations for characters. But what this movie gets right is the vocal cast. James Denton is good, and Christina Hendricks is even better. But Anthony LaPaglia is just outstanding as Lex Luthor.

And the casting of the voice for the lead villain seems to be the common trend with these DC Universe movies. Alfred Molina gave the best performance in Wonder Woman. Victor Garber as Sinestro is really what made Green Lantern:First Flight. In addition James Woods as Owlman in Justice League:Crisis On Two Earths and Jensen Ackles as The Red Hood are what I've considered the best performances in each of those movies as well.

Jimmy crossdressing was a reference to the comic-book where he crossdressed for an article called "I Was America's Sweetheart... for a Day"

Even without that reference I thought it was pretty funny how he was so nonchalant about it. As for characters that lacked explanations, which ones in particular do you think needed more explanations? I thought it was pretty easy to understand why and who all the characters were in the film.

I agree. Anthony knocked it out of the park. Andrea Romano is great at casting Lex Luthor. Well pretty much casting in general.

To me Bruce Greenwood's Batman was the best performance in Under The Red Hood.

Finally saw it, and wow, was it amazing! One of the best DTV's yet. I mean, yeah, ideally, we would've gotten the full adaptation, 12 labors means 12 issues and I miss the Bizarros and Pa Kent, but I understand about the time. Even watching the Samson and Atlas bits and the Kryptonians may seem episodic, but I felt it worked for the overall story.

Other than that, though, a great adaptation of one of the greatest Superman stories I ever read. Loved Clark's bumbling actually used to save people's lives, and Superman being basically god-like.

Lex's reform at the end worked well too. Although it is harder in this for the theory that Leo Quintum is actually a time traveled Lex Luthor trying to right his past mistakes, but that's because there wasn't enough Quintum.

But man, I'm going to have to re-read All-Star Superman and then watch this again!

This has to be my favourite Superman DTV film. It was a wonderful adaption to the mini-series of the same name. Instead of Clark losing his powers, it had been powered up tremendously You can call this movie a character study for both Lex Luthor and Superman. Lex Luthor actually noticed how similar Clark's eyebrows were to Superman's, yet he didn't seem to register that they both had the same face. Plus, he thought Parasite was after him, instead of the super-charged Superman that was in his civilian identity. Also enjoyed his character development in the end.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
