What are the plans for BB(BOTF)?

Maybe CN should make new episodes. :D

I'm sorry, but what does BOTF stand for?

-Aximlli-

BOTF: Batman of the Future....?

And yes, it would be cool if new episodes were made. Of course I'd rather see new episodes of TNBA made first.

Batman of the Future is what the show was dubbed overseas.

As for new episodes...not a snowball's chance in hell. WB has given up on the franchise and have expressed no interest in producing new epiodes or direct-to-video movies.

:(   so they rather put their chips behind the quickly dying fad of pokemon? i tell ya, those wb people dont know the good things they have if it dawsons creek flooded

Did the WB ever give a valid official reason why they axed BB?

Or did they just secrectly want to move on to something else?

OK....for a while now I've been living with this delusional little dream.....so Jim Harvey.....

Batman TAS or TNBA...new episodes...any chance?

*anticipating response to read: a snowball's chance in hell*

Good question. I'm sure BB was popular, so it COULDN'T have been because of the ratings. There's always an (absurdly small) chance that WB will chance their minds.

Not a snowball's chance either, but it's not as bad as Batman Beyond. WB has no interest whatsoever in doing anything else with Batman Beyond, even though the creators of the show said they they'd love to revisit that franchise.

As for Batman itself, WB is still trying to determine whether or not to go ahead with new Batman DTVs. It was rumored last summer that a bunch of DTVs got the greenlight, but that was false. However, script treatments have been issued and are currently being reviewed and assessed by the brass at WB. This means that there is a chance we'll see new Batman DTVs, but we will likely not see any new episodes for the foreseeable future. The earliest we could see these Batman DTVs, if they are approved, is late 2003/early 2004. I'm currently looking into this and should have something to report soon.

Any idea why WB lost interest in BB? It was pretty popular.

When it comes to Batman and Superman stories, you just can't trust KidsWB! I'm afraid. They didn't order more episodes of Batman Beyond just cuz they didn't want them. They got the original 52 they ordered, and that's all they wanted. Using the Batman mythos to get a larger, particularly teen, demographic was just the flavor of the week for them.

Plus I think that was the era where KidsWB! had that WONDERFUL network executive who said "I don't understand animated dramas." Not exactly the type of friend Batman and Superman would be able to make, unfortunately. :p

Batman Beyond was dropped just as the network started to skew to even younger demographics. Batman Beyond was aimed at the 7 - 14 demographic, but KWB also wanted the 4 - 11 demo. So even though Batman Beyond performed well in the 4 - 11 demo they introduced alot of new shows for the younger crowd aimed at the younger crowd.

Also, saw no point in making new episodes that cost when, when reruns can be repackaged (ie: theme weeks, the 'Adventures in Action City' hour block with MIB) and still bring in ratings.

It seems that any show that matures falls under the KWB axe for something aimed for the younger crowd.

If there was another animated season of BB, this is how I'd do it:

Batman Beyond
Season 4

Episode #1- Targeted

Batman travels to Metropolis in pursuit of the Kobras, only to find they've hired a protector, Curare. Meanwhile, Xander attempts to clone his queen, Max.

Episode #2- The Demoness

When the entire JLU turn up missing, Batman goes off in search of his comrades. However, he calls upon the aid of Jason Blood/Etrigan when he finds the JLU's captor, Felicia Faust, daughter of the powerful Felix Faust.

Episode #3- Dark Ally Part 1

Commissioner Barbara Gordon and Batman are shocked when a new Batgirl appears to help Terry apprehend Mad Stan. Following the new crime fighter on her escapades, Batman finds her to be Melanie, formerly of the Royal Flush Gang. However, when Bruce Wayne does some digging, he learns she was trained by his former partner, Dick Grayson!

Episode #4- Dark Ally Part 2

Visiting him in Bludhaven, Batman finds Dick Grayson running a superhero training camp. After refusing to see Bruce Wayne or Commissioner Barbara Gordon, the former Boy Wonder and the new Batman become allies when one of the superheroes in training is found to be Stalker.

Episode #5- Spare Parts

Attempting to lure Zeta into a trap to adapt his own suit, Shriek kidnaps his companion, Ro. However, the reformed robot calls upon Batman to help him confront the Master of Sound.

Episode #6- Family Ties

Bruce Wayne suspects the worse when he learns that Terry's girlfriend, Dana Tan, might have a strange connection to Inque.

Episode #7- Arch Nemesis Inc.

The JLU once again ally themselves with Batman as the newer, deadlier Injustice Gang has a new member, Earth Mover.

Episode #8- Goosebumps

Only the new Batgirl can save Batman when Spellbinder and his accomplice, Dr. Jonathan Crane a.k.a. the Scarecrow, force the Tomorrow Knight to fear himself.

Episode #9- Struck By Lightning

It appears that over the years, Maxie Zeus has led the good life on his own self-styled Mt. Olympus in Greece. However, trouble starts for Batman when Maxie's estranged son becomes Hercules and declares revenge against his uncle, Hades. As before, the Zeus family believes Batman to be Hades.

Episode #10- Lovesick

After thwarting one of Dr. Cuvier's splicing schemes, Dana accuses Terry and Max of spending too much time together. The relationship is really put on the rocks when Dana and Max are kidnapped by the Kobras. Meanwhile, Selina Kyle shows up to tie up loose ends with Bruce Wayne.

Episode #11- Afterglow

After a nuclear fallout in Kaznia, Blight returns to exact revenge on Bruce Wayne, Batman, and Paxton Powers.

Episode #12- Twisted Past Part 1

Gotham seems almost too quiet for once when the Jokerz seem to disappear. Dick Grayson finally meets up with Commissioner Barbara Gordon when her husband, Sam, discovers his training camp. However, the Jokerz return in the form of the more organized Facerz and Dick provides a startling revelation.

Episode #13- Twisted Past Part 2

Returned from his self imposed exile, Two-Face and his Facerz all but take over Gotham City. However, with Bruce Wayne and Commissioner Barbara Gordon "commanding the troops" from the Batcave and Batman, Batgirl, Max, and the returning Nightwing in the streets, the battle for Gotham City isn't over yet!

Aw, Jim you're depressing me now! I didn't realise that the BB crew still had some creative interest in furthering BB! I thought everyone was done and dusted so to speak...

That makes it all worse really. Fustrating to boot.

Perhaps Spider-Man will kick some more of that mid-teen interest into all the network 'suits' and then who knows?? Perhaps we may see some revitalized appeitite towards such projects...

Unlikely, yes, but what's life if you can't occasionally fill it with a dab of futile hope?

peterparker05,

I like your thinking with the episode plots and summaries. I know I'd tune in. I love the idea of Melanie as Batgirl.

I concur, that's a good idea. But what might be even more fun would be Batman interacting with Batgirl but neither knowing each other's secret identities until the last or second to last episode of the season.

peter park05. Those episodes are awesome. Nice job
