"2025 Annie Award Nominations Announced"

"The highest honor an animated film can achieve, besides the Oscar, is the Annie. The 52nd annual Annie Awards have been scheduled for this February and here’s who’ll be competing.

The Annies actually have two separate awards for Best Feature: one for major studios and one for independent productions. Inside Out 2, Kung Fu Panda 4, That Christmas, The Wild Robot, Ultraman: Rising, and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl are entered in competition for the studio-flavored Annie and Chicken for Linda!, Flow, Kensuke’s Kingdom, Look Back, Mars Express, and Memoir of a Snail are nommed for Indie Best Feature.

If you’re rooting for The Wild Robot, so am I, but it should have no problem winning at least something: it leads the pack with ten nominations. Inside Out 2 and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl trail close behind with seven each, and That Christmas lands in third with six noms. It’s worth noting these cover all animated projects released in 2024 and Vengeance Most Fowl technically had a release someplace, just not nationwide on Netflix, which is where most people will find it this January. You didn’t miss it.

The full list of 36 awards and nominated material, straight from ASIFA-Hollywood, is posted below. The 52nd Annies will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at UCLA’s Royce Hall."

"Arcane, Wild Robot Sweep 52nd Annie Awards"

"The Anime Awards, the highest animation-focused honor in the industry, were held over the weekend, with little in the way of surprises. Those who figured Arcane would sweep anything to do with television and The Wild Robot would sweep anything to do with movies were correct.

Wild Robot was the biggest winner of the evening with nine awards: Best FX (Feature), Best Character Animation (Feature), Best Character Design (Feature), Best Direction (Feature), Best Music (Feature), Best Production Design (Feature), Best Voice Acting (Feature), Best Editorial (Feature) and of course, Best Feature. Flow, its main Oscar competition, had nothing to fear as it had its own category to win, Best Independent Feature (and it did).

Arcane went into the competition with seven nominations and ended up winning all of them: Best FX (TV), Best Character Animation (TV), Best Direction (TV), Best Music (TV), Best Production Design (TV), Best Storyboarding (TV), and Best Editorial (TV). It couldn’t win Best TV Series because it didn’t have a nomination there; an episode of Bob’s Burgers took the prize instead.

Here’s the full list of Annie Awards nominees for 2025, with winners in bold."

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.

Going offline until further notice. David Ellison has won. I’m seeking therapy permanently rather than quitting life. Take care everyone. Once I leave the world into the void, I hope my life is better.
