Yeah the Connecticut governor race is pretty much identical to four years ago with both opponents barely getting a margin, both candidates are really terrible one is completely clueless on how to come up with a proper the budget and has had a pretty low approval rating since day one. The other is a business man with little to no ties this state.

Either way Connecticut is doomed, no matter who our Governor is they'll never be willing to tax the rich or have an idea fix the economy.

Well, somehow the governor in our state who cut funding for the arts commission, nearly closed our social service office in 2011 because the rent was too high and whose tax cuts saw steep revenue shortfall and downgraded the state credit rating managed to get himself re-elected. In fact, it seems that the lunatics will be running the asylum in Kansas for a little while longer.

Pop quiz: if the courts have to force your state government to restore funding for public schools, are your elected officials doing a good job?

No, and that means your officials are unfit to lead and you will likely experience severe austerity and/or a depression in your state that could have easily been prevented in the first place...

Assuming projections aren't screwed up it's looking like a 52-48 split for the Senate in favor of the Republican Party. Governorships might take until morning to work out.

It'll be 54 seats for Republicans when results for Alaska and Louisiana come in. Meanwhile, the Republicans have control of the House of Representatives by the largest margin since World War II...

Discussion of results here. From that article:

It was a night of almost unrelenting misery for Democrats:

In Iowa, Iraq war veteran Joni Ernst became the first woman elected to Congress from her state, after turning around her Republican campaign with an ad in which she boasted about castrating hogs.

• In North Carolina, Democrat Kay Hagan was felled by Thom Tillis, who repeatedly pummeled her for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Obama.

Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor lost to Tom Cotton, who, like Ernst, is an Iraq war veteran. Pryor's loss comes despite former president Bill Clinton's efforts to save him in his beloved home state.

• Democrats thought they had Colorado, with its mix of young voters, Hispanics and students locked down for a generation. But Sen. Mark Udall tumbled to charismatic challenger Cory Gardner who shook off claims he was anti-women.

• Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner is having a tougher ride than expected against Republican challenger Ed Gillespie in a state Democrats had thought was reliably theirs after Obama won it twice.

A rare ray of hope for Democrats came in New Hampshire, where Sen. Jeanne Shaheen bested challenger Scott Brown. And Pennsylvania's governor's mansion reverted to Democrats when Tom Wolf unseated Republican Gov. Tom Corbett in a marquee race.

Governors

Two other Republican governors meanwhile won reelection and stirred buzz for their own 2016 White House prospects — John Kasich in swing state Ohio, and conservative Republican Scott Walker in Wisconsin. In New Mexico, Republican Gov. Susana Martinez, often
mentioned as a possible GOP vice presidential pick, strolled to reelection.

Maryland -- a traditionally Democratic state -- elected Republican Larry Hogan as governor. And Illinois, Obama's home state, ousted its Democratic governor.

Republicans will now look with some optimism on the 2016 presidential election.

And they only agreed to it in exchange for eliminating due process rights for teachers, making it easier to fire them for any reason, and awarding tax breaks for corporations who give private school scholarships.

Dear God - Does no one care if our children ultimately become Orwellian - type slaves? Because under a terrible education system like your state and others is seemingly cursed with, that will happen! And I really do feel I'm not overreacting about that horrible truth.....

Anyway, who can see any of this being done anytime soon? Especially the first 3.
1) Tax Reform - Lower Corporate Tax Rates = create jobs
2) Repeal the ACA
3) Approve Keystone Pipeline
4) Raise Minimum Wage
5) Immigration Reform - Secure Borders
6) Apprehend ISIS and stop them

The others will likely be put under the table. Etiher way, none of these are good for this nation, save for 4 & 5.

Neo-Confederate Republican Michael Peroutka Wins Maryland Election | Right Wing Watch

Meet 'Dr. Chaps' Gordon Klingenschmitt: Colorado's New Anti-Gay, Demon Hunting State Legislator | Right Wing Watch

These are people we put in power last night - and they will ruin their states (and this country further still) with their overly - religious nonsense. And not just IMHO, either.

Discrimination towards minorities and women and the LGBTQ community like what these people have in store is ruining and making America look more worthless than ANY 3rd world nation today.

^ Please tell me people like this are in the minority. If these kind of Republicans are the majority of who gained control of Congress, it's gonna be a long two years.

#1. I had to click on those links before realizing - those are people elected to State government (actually, the Maryland guy was elected to a city council). These are not people sent to represent their state in Washington D.C.

#2. It's from Right Wing Watch, so yeah. I didn't see anything on their legislative proposals they campaigned on, just comments made that were often them expressing their own personal beliefs.

Having said that, yeah, I'm glad they're not representing their states in Washington D.C.

But if you want some "bad" Republicans that got elected to go to Washington last night:

Look at Tennessee's 4th Congressional District, where Rep. Scott Desjarlais cruised to re-election over token Democratic opposition.

Desjarlais, a physician by trade, was first elected in 2010, but this election marked his first time on the ballot since a full accounting of his torrid personal life burst into view two years ago.

His divorce proceedings, made public in late 2012, revealed that the pro-life Republican had slept with multiple patients and impregnated one of them before pressuring her to get an abortion. He also demanded that his ex-wife terminate two pregnancies.

But never mind all that: Desjarlais, who has apologized for his past, represents a conservative district and has an R next to his name. He won easily.

A more genuine shock occurred in the toss-up seat of New York's 11th District, where Rep. Michael Grimm, who represents Staten Island, narrowly pulled it out in a hotly-contested race against Democrat Domenic Recchia.

Grimm, a hot-headed former FBI agent and U.S. Marine, is facing a 20-count indictment stemming from his management -- or mismanagement -- of a Manhattan health food eatery called "Healthalicious."

He also became cable news fodder earlier this year after he was caught on a hot mic threatening to throw a NY1 reporter over a balcony in the Capitol rotunda after the journalist asked him about the federal investigation. "I will break you in half, like a boy," Grimm snarled at him.

Democrats saw what looked like an easy target and poured money poured into the district. Though Recchia looked like he came straight out of New York City central casting, Grimm proved to be the more capable campaigner.

Or maybe he was just better looking.

The New York Daily News nabbed the quote of the year in October when a reporter asked a female voter why she was supporting Grimm.

Her answer: "He's bang-able."

And hey, this doesn't sound like the return of segregation and Jim Crow: Tim Scott (a REPUBLICAN) becomes the first black man to be elected Senator in the South since the post-Civil War era.

This makes no sense. It's not like she's going to get a chance with him.

If that's our criteria these days, then #AlexFromTarget2016.

I was debating whether or not to chime in, but I keep it short. I'm very deflated by the election results; and if the GOP continue the shenanigans of the past six years then it's gonna be a long two years. *Sigh* ...Sometimes I wonder if it would be just easy for the country to just split up into two? Democrats get one half of the country and Republicans get the other half; neither side has to deal with the other ever again. Maybe some trade agreements could get going but each country has it's own set set of laws and principles.

Here's a list of the GOP's top legislative priorities:

1. More tax cuts for the rich.
2. Outlaw abortion.
3. Outlaw birth control.
4. Deregulate Wall Street
5. Endless war.
6. Loosen gun laws - meaning more guns on the streets.
7. More government shutdowns.
8. Taking away health care from millions.
9. An anti-gay marriage amendment.
10. Increased Racism - eventually, no more work or rights for minorities, like myself.
11. Increased Sexism - eventually, no more work or rights for women.

Thank those currently in power who hate people like you and me who enjoy being healthy and educated in stuff that matters, for that.

Yeah, then we can have another civil war, only one that never ends until the cause of war fades from memory. I hope you're picking up on the extreme sarcasm, because if that ever happens, it all will be reduced to a 3rd world nation like out of some bad literature in only a couple of days... Chances are knowing all the heavy partisanship going on right now, that will happen eventually, all as someone's idea to "Save America"... Again, extreme sarcasm.

At the risk of sounding naive, is this speculation or do you have a source explicitly saying that all this is going to happen? I'm not overly happy about the election results myself, but I highly doubt it's going to lead to most of the things on the list from happening (I agree with 1 & possibly 7) for a large variety of reasons.

Mitch McConnell has said there will be no government shutdowns and no full-fledged repeal of Obamacare.

Speaking of government shutdowns - I guess last year's government shutdown didn't hurt Republicans after all? Or maybe enough time had passed...

Yeah, I' love to see that liar honor that noise, wonderfly - anything to make America less trashy right now...

Even if Mitch McConnell wasn't being truthful, what can they do about Obamacare? Peter Paltridge way above couldn't have put it any better:
Well, despite what they say, they're unlikely to repeal Obamacare because they don't have a plan in place to replace it with anything, and they lack the organization to make a plan happen. Also, while Obama is still there, he'll just veto every attempt anyway.

Personally I blame Fox News for all this, they're the real winner here there the ones who created propaganda and lies that turned ignorant people against Obama they're the real winners here. Ebola, Bengazi and even some immigration all things Obama barely had any control over blown out of proportion. I honestly wonder how many people are still ignorant about how Ebola works.

Also the fact that people in the coal industry a really mad at Obama even though it completely destroys our environment and it's an outdated source of energy.

I don't expect us to have an open and free Internet by 2015, either - knowing how much the GOP hate that stuff. Better add that to the list of things likely to get further ruined or gotten rid of completely nationwide by this party of rich - people worshipping traitors.

Some Democrats also wanted to regulate internet campaigns, blogs as well
Dems on FEC move to regulate Internet campaigns, blogs, Drudge | WashingtonExaminer.com and there some rich guys who give to Democrats as well. This isn't FDR and JFK Democrats anymore as the late Bill Hicks might said and summed it best:
"I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs. I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking. Hey, wait a minute, ... There's one guy holding up both puppets!"
