Almost compound-fractured my arm today at work...
I was walking a fully-loaded cart of soda kegs down to the back dock, backwards, and even though I was watching where I was going, I didn't see one of the building's support beams behind my right elbow.
If my elbow hadn't pushed upward along the beam, freeing my arm, and kept my forearm parallel to the floor, it would have been quite bad...bones splintering out of the arm kind of bad. The scariest thing is that the force of the cart pushed my elbow up, not me, so it could have done anything at that point, without me being able to stop it.
Still hurt, but could have been horribly worse.
