International Disney Networks Thread Part 17

This is bad. Does that mean they will expand it to all of Europe?
Translation: Disney Officially Announces the Launch of Disney TV in Europe The Walt Disney Company will transform Disney Channel into Disney TV for the time being in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as the channel will expand to feature a broader programming lineup with content aimed at adult audiences

They misinterpreted it. Only the German feed will rebrand, they have an identity of their own.

I hope this channel never comes to the UK. Put FX crap on an FX channel.

I would like to see an FX channel here, we never had one.

Meanwhile I hope it comes in Italy! Closing FOX and then not throwing a FX or Star in its place was meh. That and Disney+ Cinema will make me happy (+ throwing more Nat Geo content to Sky Adventure? Pretty please?)

And the FX originals are only on Disney+. As FX Portugal they had to retool the channel to become FOX Comedy, later STAR Comedy.

Disney Channel Australia promo for Even Stevens in 2002. Australia is like one of the very few countries that had the show during the Circles era.

That same year, Nickelodeon Asia started airing the show. It later premiered on Disney Channel Asia in 2004 during the Bounce era (where all three seasons and even the movie aired).

Yeah, but it is right though, to an extent.

Austria and Switzerland (the German-speaking area) get DC DE

Well, it isn't better than not having anything, anyway.

Plus, FX produces far more than "crap". Disney+ Cinema could POTENTIALLY be rebranded to a general Disney+ channel (what my insider told the initial plans were), bur probably not worth it.

Plus, Disney TV won't just be around FX stuff, but general Disney+ content, including kids content

I think the best plans would be to a general "Disney TV" channel with Cinema + FX + Disney kids channel, these days :D

Having both Disney+ Cinema and Disney TV? I don't know

This was posted posts ago, at least the general news.

And no, it is exclusive to Germany. Different dynamics elsewhere

Disney TV is the "catch-all" channel @Francisque unironically wanted, xb, granted it only exists to pander to the specificalities of the German market.
It is not so much that I want it, but the one that makes more sense nowadays : D .

Rather than a Disney+ Cinema or something.
Plus, it really suits what Disney Channel Germany has become: of course the Disney Channel brand isn't suited, if you add FX content and more "grown up" content in general.

The "Prime Time" content on DC Germany while for grown-ups, has also a "family" undertone. The content from Hulu-FX etc. , not so much

Disney Cinemagic but not just movies. Honestly, I think this will spread globally. But not now. I think CEE will get a last rebrand and then maybe in two years becomes DTV. It makes sense:
Disney+
DisneyTV
Easy to remember, easy to crosspromote.

RandomMe also got the wrong person, I'm the one that wants this. (Kinda, everyone knows that my endgame would be STAR Channel and National Geographic back in Italy - but this is an acceptable compromise.)

Nah. "Star Channel with a kids block and some movies" just isn’t appealing. I bet you everything I own the kids stuff will stay for less than a year before they say "aw well, they’re all watching TikTok" and bin it for good.

The only thing that would make it remotely interesting is if they had the Fox cartoons, but those are NEVER leaving ProSieben/Comedy Central, so yeah.

Unless Germany could consider a social media ban for under 16s, like what some countries are doing. But regrettably this changes nothing to solve the kids content crisis

Disney TV reminds me of another attempt of ABC1, but with slightly more premium-level programming and in a different country, and including the essence of Fox/Star Channel. It's the approach that Disney should use internationally, it seems that maintaining a 100% family friendly image doesn't matter to them anymore, it's a difficult reputation to maintain compared to the other studios that had no issues.

The recent acquisition (recent as in 2019) reinforced the impression that Disney is not a family-friendly company, but rather another Hollywood giant. Sure, they had some tensions such as the streaming-first policy, but there's that.
