I caught up with this on Disney+. I perhaps wouldn’t consider it a new classic, there are still some elements that I’m a little tired of in Pixar’s movies, it’s a little slow to start and to be honest the emotional elements left me almost completely indifferent. Nonetheless I did enjoy it quite a bit, finding it funny, cute, weird, and even a little creepy on occasion. It feels like it’s indulging in a lot of the kind of humour Pixar’s rivals would have gone for in the 00s, and at the time would have been chastised for (it even ends with a sort of dance party!), but things have changed enough now that it’s actually quite refreshing. Also thought it would have been a fertile spring board for a tie-in game if they still made those.
