General International TV Channels Thread

U&Eden is the perfect example of a "third-rate" channel. No idea who even watches it (and if BBC even remembers to throw a bone to it) but its presence is still nice and wanted from me.
Aside from confusing U&Eden, to me it seems all the other UKTV channels work anyway, especially after the UKTV/Discovery split. They also cooperate with the BBC a lot for drama purposes, which ultimately enriches the BBC as a company.
Less channels, but better focus on these, and the ex-UKTV WBD ones also do not fare too bad either.

U&Dave, U&Drama, U&W (especially after the FTA switch), U&Yesterday and even pay TV U&Gold and U&Alibi all seem to do rather well - at least in comparison to others - even if with the linear TV downturn.

U&Eden would have been better off as a natural documentary channel alone, competing internally with U&Yesterday, but Yesterday is not a purely history channel anymore, and is hard to be a nature channel as a new arrival on digital terrestrial, especially in 2026.
I can't blame them, honestly, probably needs a new name though.

Nowadays though, U&Eden seems more U&Yesterday 2 (except on weekends), so the entertainment channel has mostly gone

Yeah, agreed on this, outside U&Eden, the rest of the channels seem to have their purpose (and I'm glad that even after the U rebrand, U&Dave kept its witty banter high) and do work.
I mean, Really from the WBD side of things also found its footing (especially after grabbing the torch that HGTV threw to it?)

I see a watermark, it would be nice to add a link to the place where you grabbed those, you know, credit!
Fjernsynarkivet, Hans Olav Nyborg's old YouTube channel for TV recordings.

He's also a regular contributor at TVARK for videos, so I'm expecting some gems to appear in the coming months

WarnerTV CZ just became basically a documentary channel
The RRTV council has approved the complete changement of Warner TV, at the meeting on June 16, 2026 & to be released on all FTA services including DVB-T2, Sattelite & on the internet (IPTV). The new licence is available for 12 years.

Yeah allthough he deleted his old youtube channel currently he is on his new youtube channel under the name of tapebits

Radio e Televisao Portugal could become a private broadcaster from the goverment soon.

Interestingly, there were in 2011 plans to privatize RTP1.: Public television RTP-1 to be privatized in 2012 – Portugal - Portuguese American Journal
It managed to spawn protests against it (which probably may have caused that privatization process to fell through): We Are Against the Privatization of Public Service TV's Channel 1 -
I remember that, they also planned to close RTP 2. Since then RTP 2 has been in the shadow of what it was under Wemans, no pricy American imports and a tightened budget for kids shows.

Warner Bros. Discovery is ceasing the broadcast of its remaining TV channels on the Belarusian operator ZALA starting July 1. It is possible that the channels will be removed from all operators in Belarus.

They are probably being shut down because of the Warner and Paramount merger. Paramount channels in Belarus have been closed since December 2022.

Or because Discovery, Inc. somehow forgot to pull its linear TV channels from the Belarusian market back in 2022 despite pulling them from the Russian market ahead of the WarnerMedia–Discovery, Inc. merger, even though WarnerMedia pulled all its channels from both Russia and Belarus in 2022.

The linear crisis has hit a new low that Bengal Digital has begun pirating the Minika kids channels from Turkey lol

How absurd? Turkey is far away from Bangladesh despite being in the same continent and the satellite beam for both channels are out of coverage anyway.

In Pakistan, they did that for years on end, they had a bunch of Polish feeds as well as Disney Jr. EMEA (from Arabia)

Comedy Central Africa when it was controlled by an local team had a huge South African bias they will constantly have all these events and specials intended for South African audiences not knowing the feed broadcast in all of sub Sahara Africa they might as well just have called it "Comedy Central South Africa"

it would have benefited from having two different feeds one for South Africa one for the rest of Africa like Nickelodeon and mtv base if they couldn't do that then at least be more balanced

Paramount had offices in Nigeria so it wasn't impossible for them to at least have events and specials for Nigeria

Don't forget about Kenya, that market would have had potential in those days.

they don't seem to care about Kenya only South Africa and Nigeria, honestly to these companies rest of Africa is like Eastern Europe and South Africa is like Western Europe

Paramount had the guts to open an office in Nigeria at least unlike Disney and warner

Glad I got you to watch Stranger Things.

If I may recommend more media for you to check out, here's a starter:

You've mentioned that haven't read the original TMNT comics from Mirage Studios. Well, this video by YouTuber "Soundout12" gives a decent roadmap for where to start:

dmxx116 really likes to wish for people not to return back to so and so because their films didn't do so well. I don't agree with everything he says, though I agree on that Jared Leto shouldn't play Skeletor.
I'm sorry but I disagree with what GRPHX said about the past five films with Daniel Craig as James Bond as well as the choice of Denis Villeneuve as director and Steven Knight as writer in the next film because I really doubt Villeneuve's take will be like the Craig films at all and besides, all of the stuff he mentioned happened before the Craig films such as Licence to Kill.

Hi, welcome to Toonzone

There's something about seeing kids cry after they mess up big time that really gets to me. One can definitely feel bad for Layla.
