International Disney Networks Thread Part 17

Speaking of Disney Channel Germany, they will be airing the remaining 12 episodes of Vikingskool starting this Sunday. The first 14 episodes aired in 2022 on weekday afternoons before being dropped from the schedule... until 2026, and now these remaining episodes will be burned off on Sunday afternoons.
Not only DC Germany is very slow with episode premieres but it treats "Vikingskool" very badly.

Better bad treatment than not airing at all. Only a handful feeds have the show so viewers should feel lucky. And for FTA-tv airing episodes slowly isn't the biggest problem. Very few countries get Disney Channel "free" while others pay some euros for a kids package.

Dragon Striker premieres tomorrow on DC PT and all other feeds it shares its programming.

Makes sense as it's a football-themed show, and it will premiere days ahead of the start of the World Cup.

Disney Channel Germany is airing DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp right now as I'm typing this. Here's some of the screencaps I took from the airing:

It's been some time since the show last aired here....

Disney Channel Germany aired "Jim Button" between March and June 2014, which in RO, it aired on Fox Kids/Jetix:

Taking the opportunity to say, you can really tell that Glass was created for this feed.

Also, really appreciate the sheer amount of classics here, dang… much better than today

And now a DuckTales (2017) marathon is airing on DC Germany (starting with "Woo-oo!").

It's easy to return ended shows for marathons because a FTA network gets ratings regardless. Pay-TV Disney channels don't want to risk as much. But I appreciate the Nordic for keeping the classics block for two hours a week. It survived even the unification. Probably good enough ratings to keep it.

Should linear get respect business-wise though? I think it's better to invest in streaming. It's more popular now. Want old shows? Stream now.

Has something to do with Donald Duck's birthday apparently

A promo tape from Disney Channel France, circa 2000. Appears to be distributed via Disney Store locations during that time.

They promoted it as an "imagination channel"

Dragon Striker premiered today, not tomorrow.

In the UK the slogans were "free your imagination", on DC Italy "libera la tua immaginazione" , and so on , until 2003 at least
Promoting Disney Channel as "the imagination station" and/or "the place for Disney magic" was a very common thing in the past for the contemporary DCI networks.

For reference, these were the slogans for each DCI region during the Circles era:
  • UK: "Let Your Imagination Run Wild!" / "Unlock the Magic Everyday" / "Meet Your Family On The Sofa"
  • France: "L'imaginachaîne" (The imagination station)
  • Spain: "Mejor con imaginación" (Better with imagination)
  • Italy: "Libera La Tua Immaginazione" (Free Your Imagination)
  • Germany: "Dein Ideensender" (Your idea channel)
  • Portugal: "O Teu Novo Canal de Televisâo" (Your new television channel; basically the launch slogan for DC Spain but in Portuguese)
  • Asia, Australia, and Middle East: "Everyday Magic, Magic Every Day"
  • Latin America: "Imagínate más..." (Imagine more)

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
