International Disney Networks Thread Part 17

Will this include France?
Every new show that premieres in Spain will also premiere on DC France on the same day and time as part of the unified schedules for Western Europe.

I was talking about premieres in general. They will premiere on the same day.

In Scandinavia this three-shows banner was replaced in ca. July/Aug 2010 (not too far from the feed’s final split from the EMEA cluster), however from what I can tell Poland and Middle East etc. already abandoned the banner from ca. mid 2009 in favor of a three-shows ‘next’ ident instead (from what my memory contains these were not used in the Nordics).

The 2010 banner looked like this:View attachment 318843

Throughout the year 2012 the banner was updated with newer graphics reflecting the time’ rebrand

With the rebrand DC UK still used a form of ECP:

Such a banner was also used in Spain (et al.?)

Holy heck I haven't seen those banners in ages! A blast from the past :)

the disney channel Spain relaunch to me represents a bigger problem with most of the emea feeds everything is too Unified now there's no individuality like in the 2000s and early to mid 2010s just make some Textless pormos to be sent to multiple feeds and call it a day is it cost saving? yes but but you can't deny that the Spanish team doesn't really care that much anymore (wouldn't surprise me if there's barely any people taking care of these feeds except for maybe Spain)

now I do appreciate the archivist trying to record these feeds so they don't end up lost media or something but I'm not even going to lie I'm more interested in 90s-2010s International Disney Channel stuff than what they have nowadays a few months ago I tried watching some Spanish feeds and I just couldn't so Bland and boring to me
(even Disney Channel US is doing better than these feeds schedule wise by adding some throwback shows)

What makes a feed blander is delocalization in an area that was historically localized, doesn't make the experience engaging

yeah, people can say what they want about about the 2000s and eary 2010s and how there was too much tweencoms but the feeds definitely felt more alive than it does now and that's a fact

It was better to unify than to shut the feeds down. Not many people get a Disney channel these days. They could very well be boring but many networks are like that now. Disney doesn't have motivation to put effort into the channel because of the downfall viewership of linear. People didn't watch streaming 20 years ago so I don't know if it's fair to compare the "good old days vs bad new days". Of course I'm not justifying their laziness but a part of it also has to do with television cuts. They fired a lot of people.

the laziness is not justified in countries like Portugal where TV consumption is still high its good there not shuting down channels anymore but all im asking is at least put a little more effort in some countries

They would but since everything is unified, they will stay like this. TV viewership is down in most of Western Europe. Of course there should be some small differences. For example that didn't stop Nordic to air Disney classics block. There should still be small local teams but I think it's Spanish team's decision to not at least have something different since they used to control PT when it was still local and be similar to Spain's feed.

i still think they should put more effort disney channel as far as I know gets good ratings in Portugal so there's no excuse I know you're tired of people comparing old to new but the reason why i do is because I want to see the channel improve and be more alive like in the past but they simply don't care it seems they rather be dull and boring than be creative again I'm sure they can attract more viewers if they actually tried more

and people think German Disney Channel is weird but it's better than most emea feeds in a lot of ways

Except that here, Disney Jr. overtook Disney Channel.

The thing is though, the channel isn't that dead when they actively update the on-air promotions. There are not many exciting things but it's not on autopilot either. The schedule yes but let's not act the channel's state is as bad as CN US for example. They might as well put the effort more into Disney Jr now that it's getting higher ratings.

Yep, and speaking of DC Germany, back when they were a pay TV channel, they even had Atomic Betty, especially in the Bounce era.

And I still like to bring up Atomic Betty airing on DC Germany since to me, it was a very rare show to air on DC international feeds in the 2000s as it aired on CN in most countries at the time (not so much in the 2010s though as Spain, Portugal and Japan later aired the show on Disney Channel).

I forgot to mention that DC DE has to be as good as possible because it's FTA and viewership staying high is more important than pay-tv. Paid linear is getting low ratings mostly so they have to relay on double bills on more popular shows and even marathon them.

not saying the channels state is as bad as CN US but the Spanish team definitely does care less now since they have so many feeds to jiggle they will have an interesting bumper or branding usage here and there but that's about it

having these feeds have separate teams is good because it allows the channels to experiment more and and have more creative freedom (bringing up german disney channel again they do this well in my opinion) if you have so many feeds being controlled by one team they're definitely going to put less effort

But it's not hard to manage every feed them since every feed gets the same schedule and promos. They definitely have time to put more effort but they decide not to do so. Summer looks promising though with three new shows in total. Seems to be at least a little exciting. At least Disney Channel feels more alive than most kids networks.

Europeans right now are experiencing the same Heatwave that africans face on a daily basis lol

honestly I like to think of this as some kind of "payback" too
But more exciting will be THIS! A new documentary about CN coming soon next year and looks like they even aknowledge Cramp Twins :ack:

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
