"Looks Like The Rick And Morty Movie Is Happening"

"In 2023, Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon hinted to an interviewer that he and Adult Swim were looking into the possibility of a feature film. Three years later, we finally have confirmation that such a film is in development.

“We are now able to confirm that there is a movie in the works,” Harmon told the website Cinemablend. “Jacob Hair is, is the director. I mean, we didn’t shop around. He is an absolute, to say rock star is honestly feels like trivializing it because that implies like some kind of flash in the pan, kind of exciting. I mean, Jacob has it like came onto our team. It was like adding a pillar to it.”

Boy, Dan sounds like he’s really into this guy with a surname that means follicles, isn’t he? Who is Jacob Hair anyway, and should we know him from anything else? He comes from Rick and Morty itself, mostly. He was responsible for that season’s strongest episodes, including “The Vat of Acid Episode.”"

6/19: Interview with Harmon and Marder. They are currently writing season 12 and recall no connectivity between season 9 and Curtis.
Strange not to have any internal cross promotion, but I’d guess they wrote most of this season long before it was even greenlit.

I wonder if Curtis will appear in this season at all.

Yeah since it was announced last year, when season 8 was about to come out/came out, I was gonna guess season 10 production was when this spin-off was worked on since they're about 2-3 seasons ahead (so idk maybe late 2024 even?) and if's any crossover/references/linkage, probably not until season 10 or 11.

In the interview they admitted they couldn't remember if he was in season 9 or not. But he was absent last season and season 4 so it wouldn't be a first if he's not in 9 but it would be his longest absence.

Remember that Robot Chicken Adult Swim Special that was hinted at a few months back? Well that got officially announced today. According to the synopsis

"

The special follows iconic Adult Swim characters on a celebratory cruise that quickly spirals into chaos.
"

So it looks to be one of those specials that actually has a more full plot to it. Based on the promotional material though they are giving quite a variety of characters a shout out though as we have references to Metalocalypse, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Venture Brothers and even more obscure picks like Assy McGee or Black Jesus so again looking forward to seeing who gets a lampooning here.

Though if you're looking to see CN itself get that treatment, the next Robot Chicken special will be dedicated to Cartoon Network's 35th anniversary next year taking shots a lot of their programming. Including Johnny Bravo getting some attention hope they bring up how he's now a "cancelled" kind of cartoon icon or what not. Again RC can be very hit or miss and doubt they'll have any of the writers properly apporving stuff to get the "voices" of all these collabs right but eh should be a lot better then the Discovery Channel special if only because I actually know really what this one is going after.

"Annecy 2026: Adult Swim Announces Two Robot Chicken Specials Celebrating The Network’s History"

"If Seth Green could be making more full seasons of Robot Chicken, he would. However the new batch of executives he inherited a few years ago did not see the value in it. “No one was green-lighting a new season of 20 quarter-hours. It’s just not happening,” Green told The Wrap last year. “Everyone who would have said yes to us got fired and consolidated into a much smaller pinpoint on the graph.”

After some sweet-talking, however, he managed to convince his new bosses to let Robot Chicken continue in the form of TV specials…so that’s what they’ve been doing. The Robot Chicken Self-Discovery Special aired last July and today, Adult Swim announced it will be followed up with two more…two that explore thematically similar subjects. One’s about the history of Cartoon Network, while the other’s about the history of Adult Swim."

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
