General International TV Channels Thread

Yesterday my YT algo blessed me with a nice video.

While BBC Knownledge isn't named anywhere, we had that on Premium Mediaset (and it was one of the rare none Mediaset exclusives the platform had, with the late Discovery World, Studio Universal (as it did find an home there after the Sky closure) and Investigation Discovery)

Also Here In Türkiye, We Have BBC First, BBC Earth And CBeebies Which Are Available
On Cable And Satellite Platforms Alongside With BBC News International.

BTW: Shows on BBC First In Türkiye Are Broadcast In Original Language And Subtitled In Turkish Language.
However, Trailers Of Upcoming Programmes On BBC First Are Dubbed In Turkish Language
But BBC Earth And CBeebies Are Broadcast In Turkish Dubbing With Original Audio On The Secondary Channels.

While BBC Earth Is Changed To The Reith Look, CBeebies And BBC First Are Still Using The Old Logos,
But Asian Feeds of BBC First, Particularly Australia Was Changed To A New Logo As Well.

Also, BBC Prime/Entertainment Was Formerly Carried On Turksat Kablo TV Platform
Up Until The Closure In 1st April 2024. It Is Carried With Original Audio With Only Dutch Subtitles.

And Most Recently, Cosmoblue Media (The Owners Of Da Vinci, Filmscreen, Azoomee And Cosmo Sports)
Has Partnered Up With BBC Studios To Launch ''Cosmo En'', An Alternative Channel Of BBC Prime/Entertainment.

Cosmo En Is Already Available On D-Smart Platform, But It Will Be Added To Tivibu Platform Very Soon.

I also watched the BBC HD video and how it still has its afterlife in cruises long after the international version closed.

CNBC channels in India and Japan has rebranded their logos. Weird to see CNBC TV18 not in widescreen nor having new tickers.
It's Also Same With Nikkei CNBC (Japan) As Well. The Logo Is Changed
But The Old Ticker And Graphics Are Remain The Same.

My theory is that they only changed the logo because of necessity. The new fiscal year started for broadcasters yesterday but it officially starts tomorrow.

Another BBC Prime/Learning handover, from 28 December 2003.
As I listened to the music, the "Interests" variant was the one I remember of all "coming up" BBC Learning animations, one time as a 4-year-old when I tuned in to BBC Prime too early (I actually wanted to see the 07:00 AM switchback).

Hallmark PL+HU continuity from April 2005:

My guess is that the Polish ads (hibrid?) were removed later... Maybe from the 2006 rebrand, where only the Hungarian ads shown up?

Not sure as Hallmark changed the feeds frequently back then.

Hungarian ads did air on Hallmark from early 2004 onward, on the raw feed, hence the feed switch for Poland.
I remember seeing a continuity video from the Hungarian ad feed which is from March 2006 I think.

Probably at the same time we also got our local feed. But I don't know what happened between 2001-2006, I know that before 2001 we also shared the feed with Poland and Hungary, and for a short time in 98-99, also with Czechia and Slovakia.

I think the feed we had here in Portugal had no commercials. It was on Bragatel, TV Cabo never had it.

The movie does has full dubs in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, German, French, Latin American Spanish, Castilian Spanish, Brazilian, European Portuguese, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Croatian and Slovene, as evidenced by SkyShowtime and Paramount+. That's close to the amount required to air this movie on Nickelodeon's current global feed compound—just add Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Turkish, Arabic, Thai, Indonesian, Malay and Mandarin dubs and you're all set!
I have a feeling TeenNick Israel aired it with Hebrew subtitles, considering Static Cling and Enter the Florpus were released the same way (true to how the RML and IZ aired in Israel. Hey Arnold! too)

TVR Folclor is shutting down its linear TV feed

The only way to watch TVR folclor is on TVR+

With the arrival of April 1, Ukrainian XSport and XSport+ have already shut down, and “BelRos” was replaced by a new channel — “Soyuzny”

Biggs will be replaced by VinTV Portugal later this year because Dreamia thought that they were spending money in vein for 2000s and 2010s teen series that they thought would bring in more viewers, but was a fatal mistake because the viewers didn't come in.
So... Uhm, can Spain have back Canal Panda now? Portugal gets something to get the AMC Networks offer more equal to Spain, but Spain needs that kids channel back.

(At least it means the chances of AMC Networks yeeting VinTV out of the window are smaller now, yippie!)

XSPORT was available in Portugal on MEO's Ukraine TV package initially marketed by Media Group Ukraine. When MGU shut down, 1+1 took over.

XSPORT shut down because of financial problems Ukraine is facing.

I don't know, what killed Canal Panda was not the linear exodus, but the decision to end all commercial advertising in like 2018.

Lesson learned for Dreamia and AMC. Bringing back adult-oriented anime would be their last saving grace for the channel along with their teen series but they didn't listen.

They knew that Boomerang LA route wouldn't work today.

Boomerang LATAM my beloved, beatiful presentation even if being a teen-oriented channel was very ???
Odd moves that didn't work, but I'm glad that were made, somehow.
(Anyway, this is a win-win for me, Portugal too gets to have a bite of that VinTV-shaped goodness)
