MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

It was likely a single period of a few years, as in "I have the rights to this work for five years". They aimed at making an all-new Rocky and Bullwinkle show (as if the 2018 remake wasn't enough) but nothing came.
Makes you wonder why the Ward estate completely didn't sell off the show.
I'm not sure what "tensions" people are talking about with Wildbrain. Outside of Rocky and Bullwinkle, MeTV Toons has always aired 3 hours a week of Wildbrain programs. Before the schedule change earlier this year it was 3 hours a week of Inspector Gadget, after schedule change it is now 1 hour of Inspector Gadget and 2 hours of The Wacky World of Tex Avery, which still equals 3 hours a week of Wildbrain programs.
Tbh, it's merely a matter of this library not being strong enough. I would love to see Gadgetinis or even Incredible Dennis air on the network.

Another Wildbrain show we will not be seeing due to rights issues is Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa, whose entire series was sold off to The Nacelle Company 2 years ago.

I wonder if they're as reliable as Thunderbean though

Alot of their cartoons are more on the obscure side and the more popular ones mainly come from Cookie Jar/DIC. Maybe later on we'll see shows like Patrol 03 and The Shoe People
"Uh oh! Sylvanians! All your troubles soon will melt away..."

Hey, you never know. It can even be aired as an E/I show.

BTW, it's based on the toyline now known as "Calico Critters" in the U.S..

Though I think this is of extremely low priority. Think of the 90s Tex Avery show.

Wildbrain no longer owns the rights to that show anymore

I really want Maple Town.
Some shows seem to be impossible or of limited appeal, especially the dubbed 80s animes. It's like begging Movies! to air Kosovo Autumn.

(Kosovo Autumn is a hypothetical example and is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear "limited appeal")

That's the first I've heard of that. So who does?

Also, SpecialColorfull, that show isn't in the Wildbrain library. It was licensed and dubbed by Saban, but those rights expired a long time ago. The rights to the English dub are currently owned by The Kushner-Locke Company. This is the only source I can find that confirms it.

I checked their library, it is not there sadly.

I know it isnt, I just want it, because it is the competitor show to Sylvanian Families.

Reminds me that there are some Saban titles that didn't end up in Disney's hands and entered rights limbo.

Sorry for the late update but just checked the Dr Seuss and Mighty Mouse and Friends airings on MeTV Toons:

For Mighty Mouse and Friends, for being "unrestored" they actually look quite alright. They're obvious transfers of the 90s masters, same defects and all (just hear the opening titles of Plumber's Helpers...nuff said) but they're pretty colorful and look awfully good (I have some foreign language dubbed 2010s airings of Heckle and Jeckle cartoons from an international channel and they look similarly fine).

As for the Dr Seuss specials, the one's that Paramount/CBS owned look pretty awful, Lorax and The Cat in the Hat have a seemingly red tint over them. Dr Seuss on the Loose is also a 2000s edited version (IIRC ABC Family aired this the same way). Wonder why WB didn't just allow Paramount/CBS to use some of the restored prints that were put on Home Video (Hoober Bloob Highway in particular was actually restored and dumped on Amazon Prime in a Cat in the Hat collection of all things). Guess that that would have taken a bit more time though...

So I noticed MeTV Toons is getting some bigger name advertisers lately. Today I seen a commercial for Michaels a few times with a short version during Police Academy and a long version during Bugs Bunny and Friends. I've also been seen a commercial for Peloton a several times since last week.

At least that would be better than seeing that same Oak St. Health or Allied Injury Group ad over and over again.

I'm waiting for Weigel to add Dave to its advertising wallets. Imagine seeing its commercials during The Yogi Bear Show

Those doing the pyramid burger on YouTube are doing it wrong. Let it cook until it's well done because I've seen people doing it and trying it before spitting it after realising that it's raw.
I have another theory as for why Johnny Bravo is neglected by CN nowadays. Putting aside the basic concept, it's the retools that made the show chaotic.
