The Simpsons - "Homer Scissorhands" - Talkback [5/8]

I found this episode to be really, really tightly written...surprisingly, even a near-classic. Has it been like this all season? Guess I haven't been paying close attention...

Surprised no one has on how Homer's arc and Milhouse's broke the mold, for both characters -- but were so tightly conceived, it didn't feel like a stretch. It was so refreshing when the "camera" pulled out to reveal Selma's haircut (or was it Patty? same difference...), and revealed that Homer fact hadn't botched it, as we'd expect. And was shocked when Lisa kissed Milhouse -- and smart move having her be confused about it. Not because it was an easy way around having them be together from here on, which would throw the series' basic template completely out of whack -- but because it made the dynamic between them more complex and human/believable.

A bonafide example of good character writing wherein they genuinely "evolve", rather than a cheap "against type" scenario that the writers scraped off the bottom of the barrel.

Not a bad episode at all. Yeah, it was another plot based on Homer suddenly gaining a unique talent, but i really like how they handled it. He doesn't screw up the new business, he just realizes he doesn't want to be in it. Nice way to write off the business too without causing another Homer/Marge argument.

B plot was okay too. Surprisingly touching since Lisa finally reciprocated Milhouse's feelings. Wonder if they'll follow up on it.

Why was Ned in Moe's Tavern?!

Also, voice actors from Animation Domination shows shouldn't voice characters in other Animation Domination shows. It's already distracting enough having H. Jon in Family Guy.

A great episode, a lot of hilarious segments. I was pretty disappointed with last week's episode, I'm glad this one was great!

This episode was a step up from the previous one. I hope Lisa and Millhouse start dating now. Most likely not though. Homer cutting through the bridge ropes was funny and I also liked the information popping up above everyone's heads at Moe's tavern. I couldn't believe that they changed how Homer lost his hair I preferred the original story of Homer pulling out more hair every time he learned Marge was pregnant. I wonder if the current writers even remember that they already said how Homer lost his hair?

Great funny episode. The best was Lisa painting Bart, Milhouse with the eagle, Homer's pic with Patty and cutting the bridge, Finding Nemo, Homer shushing Maggie (who was about to talk), Moe & Wiggum's annoying noises.

And Doris & Moleman? Talk about an odd pairing.
But seriously, retconning how Homer lost his hair? Not cool dude.

Really great ep tonight. Its a real shame the show can't have consistently good eps like this in the later seasons.

Ah well, I guess every season does have 2-3 really good episodes nowadays.

Nelson isn't going to be happy about this development. Milhouse prepare for war

The way Simpsons are going I wouldn't be surprised if they were to do an episode on that.

It amazes me how they are still producing good episodes let alone different couch gags every time.

Decent episode this week. Hopefully, this continues.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
