Chronicles of the Empire (R)

Wonderful! Now I'm the court jester. :D

I don't know whats going on now...but...I hope Raven is dead...and rotting...in my closet.

Empress,
of the blah blah blah...

P.S.
I finally emptied my little "inbox" thingy...so, yeah, you can PM me now...
Or call...or...email...whatever.

(except for you Charles....)

Empress,

*taps feet and whistles* By the way, it happened.

Um...What happened? ( Ok, nevermind...I reread it...I get it... *does blonde girl dance* )

...Jester? I kinda like that...amuse me boy!

*takes off jester cap* Guess I won't be needing this.

But I can be freelance, you know. After all, "Charles cracks jokes and no one cares."

Don't you listen to the General...I believe MY name is EMPRESS. Now, entertain damn it!

Your name may be Empress, but who has tactical command of this thread? That's right, I do. And in the Armed Forces, the subject that has tactical command in a certain area is in charge of all people within that area, even if they happen to be of a higher rank. You may command everything outside of here, but here in my mausoleum, I have ultimate command. That said, Charles, you can be court jester outside of here, but in here, no.

Everyone keep on topic. Now that that is over, I hope to have Entry 8 done by this weekend. To keep ya'll on topic, I gonna let you speculate what's gonna happen by giving you the title of the newest entry:

"Wings of Black Sheath No More"

True. And besides, you scare me more... :ack::eek:

Oh PLEASE Charlie, the General is all bark.

Oh PLEASE Charlie, the General is all bark.

That said, cease and decist this badgering and arguing. If I must, I will alert the mods, but I'd prefer not anyone get banned.

*rolls eyes* Oh, fine. Be careful though...I have a thing with biting...*mind wanders*

So, speculation on the next chapter, eh? After that intriguing battle with the super dorks, I'm sure something interesting is coming...Question though: Is Kiryu still around? Or did he go off somewhere?

EMPRESS OF CAPITOL LETTERS,

Yes, Kiryu is still around. He's has just taken a back seat while I introduce some new characters.

Okay, enough speculation because Entry 8 is here.

Wings of Black Sheath No More (aka Entry 8)

It was a cool, windless night in the metropolis dubbed “Jump City”. The Special Forces team, led by the newly appointed Maj. Paraoan, swept silently through the dark street.

No one ever thought that the boy picked up off the streets of shell-shocked San Diego would grow up to be a leader in the Imperial Army that Paraoan was. In fact, the boy suffered such bad cases of shell shock and paranoia of bomber strikes, that the days living in a cardboard box all alone had diminished his vocabulary to the point he could only say his adopted name “Paranoid Guy”. But years of training at General Gryphus’s personal guidance had changed him into an agent of destruction. Now, with the General’s blessings, and a new name, he had been personally appointed to head of Special Forces Command.

Paraoan ordered his team to stop. They were standing in the center of a large intersection. To their left was the bridge that led to the island in the center of the bay and to the and a few blocks to their right was City Hall. Yes, this was the perfect spot to guarantee an encounter with the demons.

Ever since the outbreak of war, the demons had secluded themselves in the tower upon the island, only exiting for the occasional guerilla strike. Their usual city patrols were no longer of use now that the city lay in waste. Paraoan knew this, but he also had the right bait to lure them out.

He proceeded to set a C4 charge in the center of the intersection and set a timer for 5:00 before scurrying off to hide in the rubble with the rest of his troops. The resulting explosion, in clear view of the tower, would surely rouse the demons and lure them to here, the place where Paraoan team would ambush and hopefully kill 4 of the 5 demons. The last one, the one that actually was reminiscent of a demon, was supposed to be brought before the Empress. No one among the team knew why the Empress held such a vendetta against this demon, but they never asked questions for fear of their life.

The device went off, spewing chunks of asphalt in all directions before it all went silent. Paraoan listened to the dead silence, trying to pick up a sound. Then, he heard, a faint wisp in the air, like a whip right before it cracked. A figure dropped from the sky and landed on his feet, silent as a cat. The steel-toed boots that glistened in the moonlight made barely a sound.

A pterodactyl silently glided in silently and dropped the robotic demon it had grasped in its claws before landing and morphing into a humanoid form. The final two demons, female in appearance, flew in silently and set down on the street. Unbeknownst to the Titans inspecting the crater, they were right where their enemies wanted them.

Far off on top of a building, the world seemed so much closer than it was for SSG Altmann. Through the scope he mounted, he would be able to read the nametag off of his commander if he could see him. Instead, he chose to sight in on the leader among the demons.

Altmann squeezed the trigger on his S2 AM sniper rifle. There was a large crack as the .50 caliber slug was ejected from the rifle, passed through Robin’s right temple and out the left, leaving a splatter of his brains over Starfire’s figure. Robin’s corpse crumpled on the spot, leaving the Titans gasping in horror.

Cyborg turned and strafed the ramparts of where he calculated the shot had come with his Sonic Cannon. He paused for a moment, listening intently. No sounds of shuffling feet could be heard, but with the amplifier turned on he was able to pick many slight contacts, like that of heartbeats.

“I think we’re being hunted…” warned Cyborg as he straightened up.

“Obviously,” grimaced Beast Boy as he glanced a second look at his former commander.

“I’m going to thermal ima-“ ****, thought Paraoan. It’s now or never.

“Open fire!” he barked. The Special Forces team unleashed a hail of 9mm from their MA5B assault rifles. The Titans scattered in all directions, but the team had managed a few hits on Beast Boy and Cyborg. As Starfire and Beast Boy darted left and right in the sky, dodging the storm of bullets, they remained unaware of the true attack force: a pair of Anaconda surface-to-air rocket launchers, the newly infamous weapon that had taken down Hawkgirl.

Anaconda Team 1, located on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency on the southwest corner of the intersection had sighted in on Starfire. While the locking mechanism did take its bloody time to establish a lock, one of the perks of the Anaconda was that it had a 97% kill rate. So if you were its target, there was almost no chance of shaking it off. The launcher fired, sending the explosive streaking towards Starfire.

“Starfire! Look out!”

“EEEP!” Starfire shot along at ground level, diving in between piles of rubble, but the rocket stayed right on her trail. She arced up, above the height of the skyscrapers, before diving back down towards the ground. Her plan was to out turn the rocket, causing it to ram into the ground. Too bad she wouldn’t make it that far. The rocket caught up to her as she skimmed down the side of the Wayne Enterprises building. The proximity detonator on the rocket went off, and Starfire was caught between an explosion and sheets of glass. She crashed against the pain of glass, which shattered instantly. Shards of the glass drove deep into her skin, drawing blood and unleashing a shearing pain throughout her body.

Miraculously, Starfire survived with minimal injuries. She looped down and into the window of where she presumed the missile had came from. Screams of anger and agony could be heard before the two battered soldiers and the launcher, which had been tied up like a pretzel, were thrown out the window.

“Shit,” swore Paraoan under his breath. He pulled out his radio and spoke. “General, we need back up. These Titans are more dangerous than originally expected.”

“… Roger. Kiryu and Doomfire are en route.”

The battle had gone from bad to worse. What was anticipated of being a moral crippler by killing Robin had only made the Titans more angry. The true ferocity of the Titans had been unleashed. They truly fought like demons now, as if the squad’s namimg had been a forewarning.

Starfire hovered above, firing starbolts at the decimated spec ops unit as it attempted to flee. Her eyes glowed with a luminous intensity greater than the sun. Every ounce of rage was accentuated in every bolt. The faintest sound however brought Starfire’s attention away from the troops. It sounded like a whine of a jet engine, and unless her ears were fooling her, it was getting louder.

She wheeled around just in time to see a screeching Kiryu jet tackle her, his plasma swords ablaze. The two combatants crashed into a nearby skyscraper. Concrete and glass exploded out, causing a rain of debrie over the other Titans. Everyone seemed to stop and stare at the building. Great flashes of light could be seen within, but then it all stopped. A single figure could be seen striding through the haze of concrete, carrying the other above their head. Out of the haze emerged Kiryu victorious. Starfire’s body hung limp upon his glowing plasma sword.

Cyborg charged his sonic cannon and pointed it at Kiryu.

“You just crossed the line, you hunk of scrap metal!”

“Please, you’re threat isn’t even amusing. I could tear you open like a tin can.” Kiryu dropped Starfire. “For some reason, this pawning of you I’m about to initiate seems oddly familiar, as if I’ve read it somewhere before, but no matter. The outcome will be the same. The only variable in this equation is how many pieces I’m going to cut you into.”

“Hold on!” screamed Beast Boy, “you’re not slicing up anyone.”

“Silence, vermin. My associate will deal with you in a bit.” Kiryu fired up his rockets and swords and launched himself at Cyborg. But through all this Beast Boy couldn’t help but ponder who this associate could possibly be. No other mechs like Kiryu could be seen. Just then, the ground beneath Beast Boy literally exploded.

Beast Boy transformed and was able to get away before he was engulfed by the molten lava that oozed from the newly formed miniature volcano. The pteradactyl stare down at the lava, looking for anything unordinary. Something then caught his eye. A patch of the lava seemed to move differently from the rest. It was then he realized, that wasn’t lava, it was a creature.

Doomfire uprighted himself out of the lava and bellowed a challenging roar. He glared up at the (in his view) strange emerald flying creature. Deep in Doomfire’s memory, he remembered roasting these types of creatures, but that was long ago. He hadn’t seen one in ages. It would be fun to reenact old times.

Doomfire spat a geyser of magma at the creature, but it seemed to disappear, replaced by a much smaller bird. This enraged the demon, who proceeded to fill the sky with molten rock. Beast Boy, as a huming bird, was able to dodge most of it, but was clipped on the wing, causing severe burns.

Beast Boy landed. The burns had made moving his right arm unusable due to the pain, so he couldn’t change into any flying creatures. He’d have to fight this thing on land, which put him at a great disadvantage. He transformed into a tyrannosaurus, which with the beast’s tiny arms, would cause minimal pain.

The massive dinosaur lashed out with its mighty tail, which it instantly regretted. Doomfire’s body burned so hot, the air around it was ionized into pure plasma. Beast Boy’s tail suffered worse than 3rd degree burns before he even made contact. Skin was burned away and flesh was charred to a deep black.

Beast Boy morphed back into his human form. His body was badly burned he couldn’t move. Through the corner of his eye, he watched as Doomfire lumbered towards him. He could feel the plasma nipping at what nerves he had left. Searing pain flooded through his body. Dommfire stopped and loomed over his fallen prey. Beast Boy was finally put out of his misery as his body was incinerated under Doomfire’s heavy foot.

Doomfire lifted hi foor off of the incinerated body. It was barely reminiscent of its original form. He turned his attention back to his ally. Kiryu had just delievered a shattering blow to Cyborg’s breast plate and ripped out the power core. The core exploded as it was crushed in the claw, but Kiryu’s armor remained undamaged.

Doomfire lumbered over to his ally and stared down at the fallen Cyborg. Bits of his circuits began to burn in the presence of the intense heat.

“Now all that’s left is the dark one…” Kiryu mused. He looked around through the rubble and fire, but she remained unfound. But then his sonar pick up something. Behind the two, he felt the ping of something large and metal floating in the air. There was no sound emanating, so it couldn’t be an attack helicopter. It must be Raven.

The metal object suddenly launched towards the devil and mech, but Kiryu spun around quick as lightning and fired his Maser at the incoming object, which happened to be a fuel truck. The truck exploded, filling the street with flames.

“Doomfire,” Kiryu ordered. “Keep her occupied while I reset my Maser’s voltage to stun her.” Doomfire cocked his head to the side in confusion. “Oh, goddammit, you stupid oaf. Just fight her, but don’t kill her!”

Doomfire roared in the direction at which the truck had came. Through the shadows, Raven apparated into existence. Her black aura engulfed two more cars and they were hurled at Doomfire. The cars had reached the plasma zone and instantly began to melt. By the time they impacted Doomfire’s hide, they were as soft as tissue and did no damage.

Raven was sweating profusely now as Doomfire caused his temperature to sky rocket. She grabbed two more cars and hurled them, but this time they were ionized before they even reached the demon. Swearing under her breath, she ducked away as Doomfire approached. The heat was now at an unbearable level, and thinner linens began to spontaneously combust.

Raven whispered a silent thank you as she recalled the fact her leotard and cloak had been made out the same titanium laced material that Robin’s cape was. She had no idea what she’d do if she suddenly caught fire. It was disturbing to even think about.

By now, Doomfire had raised the temperature to such a high point that the exposed rebar of reinforced concrete was melting. The tar in asphaut began to burn, filling the air with a putrid smell. Cars exploded at random from their fuel tanks catching fire. It was literally Hell on Earth.

Kiryu silently landed next to Doomfire, his slight alterations complete. Doomfire stepped back and proceeded to lower his temperature to a bearable point.

“Come out, come out, wherever you are,” Kiryu mused as he began to walk down the street. He kept his eyes and sonar alert, searching for anything out of the ordinary, not that an entire city block in the middle of an inferno was ordinary. He then noticed her with his sonar, flying in the sky above, looking down upon them.

Kiryu stopped and remained absolutely silent. He sensed as Raven dropped her altitude to get a better look before she attacked. Suddenly, Kiryu snapped his head upwards and fired his significantly weakened Maser. Raven was caught off guard and struck in the chest. She felt as every muscle in her body contracted and her body went stiff. She lost her focus and fell from the sky like a rock. The impact upon the asphault knocked her unconscious.

“Come now, Doomfire. Let’s take our catch home.”

Raven’s vision came back slowly and her memories were foggy. All she recollected was fire and death.

“Greetings, Raven,” a woman sneered from above her.

It all came back at once. The ambush, the fight back, the volcano. It was all livid. Raven’s eyes shot open as she refused to look at the carnage no more. Above her were standing two figures, one male, one female. The male was tall and appeared to be a high ranking military official from the collage of medals that adorned his chest. The female was blonde and her dress looked identical to one from ancient Egypt.

“Where… where am I?” Raven stammered as she still tried to take this all in.

“You’re in my temple,” the woman replied. “I am Empress Amelia of the Earth Sphere Unified Nations. And you, Raven, have gotten on my last nerve. You and the Titans have been attacking my soldiers and disrupting our global conquest. My hatred of you is unmatched… I relish the thought that I’m going to get to torture you to death. My record of keeping someone alive in maximum pain is 52 hrs. Someone of your mental powers should be able to help me break that.” Amelia twirled an enlarged corkscrew in her fingers, pondering where she’d burrow it into Raven’s flesh.

“But why me? Why didn’t you have your weapons or what not kill me with the rest of the Titans? Why do you hate me so much more?”

“That, Raven my dear, is for me to know, and you never to find out.”

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Now, I would guess that Danny Phantom will come into the story. Nope, I'm not through speculating.

May I second that statement with a:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!

I am more than pleased at the carnage General...
And yes, I'll admit it...you're taller than me...*pout*

Empress,
