Not everything Pixar Animation Studios puts out this year is going to be car-related. This fall they’ll be releasing a new original story, “Coco,” about a boy, his guitar, and the musician he idolizes.
Young Miguel loves the licks of Ernesto de la Cruz, but the man has been long dead. The next best thing to meeting him would be to meet his legendary guitar — which unfortunately was laid to rest with Ernesto in his tomb, so this would mean breaking into a grave site. No problem for Miguel, though! He’s there in the very next scene.
But when he reaches up to touch the guitar, something very odd happens, and to continue from here would be to lessen the trailer’s impact. This is a very good trailer from Pixar; it draws you into the story and hangs it right at the most interesting part. All you can think at the end is “Man, I gotta see that” — which is what every trailer is supposed to do, yet only a few accomplish.
Pixar’s Coco will be out November 22, 2017.
