Welcome to “This Week in Comics”! Looking for a new comic book to pick up this week? Here’s your guide to what’s coming out at your local comic shop (or available for digital purchase) this week (March 25th, 2026). Each week, we’ll focus on at least one of each of the following: The latest issue of an ongoing series that’s worth highlighting, a new issue #1 (a great starting point!) for an ongoing or mini-series , a stand alone (one-shot) comic, and sometimes even a comic available in the digital backlog available on Marvel Unlimited, DC Infinite or Comixology Unlimited!
Highlight of the Week (Ongoing Comic, DC):

SUPERMAN #36: “THE REIGN OF THE SUPERBOYS BEGINS! After the shocking events of DC K.O., Superman is missing. But one hero steps up to take his place… Superboy Prime?! Normally, Prime has only been part of massive DC events, but now he gets a real shot at showing the world he can be just as great a hero as Superman! Superstar artist Dan Mora returns to Superman for an action-packed and fun adventure that changes the face of the DC Universe!”
Hey, remember that time when the original Superboy (Superboy Prime) became a murderous psychopath and starting killing all the DC superheroes? Well, now he’s the hero. No, it’s not that simple, and writer Joshua Williamson should have a interesting take on the infamous character (and you can’t go wrong with Dan Mora’s fantastic artwork). It’s the start of a new storyline in the wake of “DC KO”, so check this one out!
Highlight of the Week (Ongoing Comic, Marvel):

FANTASTIC FOUR #9: “GALACTUS FACES THE MALICE OF THE INVINCIBLE WOMAN! The Fantastic Four have voyaged into new and unknown parts of the universe to save Galactus — but found only ruin at the hands of the Invincible Woman. And now, lost on an alien world, they must face her… alone. But even with all their powers combined, it may not — cannot — stand against her malice. Meanwhile, on Earth, things aren’t going much better — as, without the Fantastic Four to defend it, our world is viewed with envious eyes by intellects vast, cool and unsympathetic… But there may be just one final hope that could save them… or doom them all.”
I’ve always loved the concept of the Invisibile Woman (the “June Cleaver”/perfect housewife of the 60’s) becoming a murderous psychopath supervillian (hmm, I’m sensing a theme this week). “Malice” is a Fantastic Four concept leftover from decades past that’s always worth revisiting. Plus, I’m always a fan of Humberto Ramos’ quirky artwork (which I never expected to work so well with the Fantastic Four corner of the Marvel universe, but here we are).
New Issue #1 (Mini-Series):

STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC ADVENTURES – PATHFINDERS #1: “Twenty years after Phase II of the High Republic, a brand-new team of Republic Pathfinders is dispatched to a distant corner of the galaxy to investigate the strange death of a Jedi Master! But as the team wades into a web of mystery, they discover not everything about this mission is as it seems. Can the team save the day and solve the Jedi’s mysterious demise?”
Sometimes, you just want a story set in that famous “galaxy far, far away”, but don’t want to bother with anything named “Skywalker” (or “Mandalorian” or “Sith”). What makes the Jedi great is that their stories can work in any era of the galaxy. Yes, the “High Republic” era has been hit or miss, but I find that I can always return to “random Jedi stories” with an open mind, and this looks like a great stand-alone mini-series.

MEGAGHOST #1: “Young scholar of the strange Martin Magus and the supernatural giant robot MegaGhost defend the city of Dunwich Heights against the threat of the Occult Kaiju. But a new menace looms, for the sinister necromancer known as Ultraghoul has made a deal with the Nethergods, dark powers from another dimension, to give him the power to defeat his arcane archenemy for once and for all!
Written by Gabe Soria (Jimmy Olsen’s Supercyclopedia, Midnight Arcade) and illustrated by Eisner Award-winning artist Gideon Kendall (Marley’s Ghost, Lester of the Lesser Gods), Megaghost series 2 is an action-packed thrill ride, a macabre mystery, and a massive monster throwdown all in one!”
Well, okay, a giant robot ghost?!? Sure, count me in! I don’t have much more to say, other than that cover artwork looks fantastic (from the super creative Gideon Kendall). I understand this is technically “Volume 2”, but it should be a great stand-alone mini-series worth checking out!
Stand-alone Story:

DC/MARVEL: SUPERMAN/SPIDER-MAN #1: “LEGENDARY CREATORS TAKE ON THE MAN OF STEEL AND YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN! Written by Mark Waid, Tom King, Matt Fraction, Sean Murphy, Gail Simone, Christopher Priest, Greg Rucka and Jeff Lemire Art by Jorge Jimenez, Jim Lee, Steve Lieber, Sean Murphy, Belen Ortega, Daniel Sampere, Nicola Scott and Rafa Sandoval The Last Son of Krypton meets your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world — especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!) Good thing our intrepid newshounds are secretly Superman and the amazing Spider-Man. Brought to you by legendary storytellers Mark Waid and Jorge Jimenez.
And don’t miss these bonus stories: Tom King and Jim Lee tell a tale of Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson. Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber revisit Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen… and Carnage! Sean Murphy, meanwhile, takes us to the future with Superboy (Legion) and Spider-Man 2099. Gail Simone teams up with Belen Ortega for a look at what happens when Power Girl meets Punisher. Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere show us a time when Superboy Prime (who reads all the comics) decided to visit Spider-Man right after he got the black suit. Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott take us on an exciting race — between the Daily Planet and the Daily Bugle. Plus, we finally get to answer the age-old question of who would win in a fair fight, Pa Kent or Uncle Ben! Just kidding, those guys are too nice to fight each other, but Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval will take us deep into the past to see the two men bond in the face of adversity. Celebrate 50 years of DC/Marvel crossovers with eight new original stories by some of DC’s top talent!”
Yes, this is arguably the highlight of the first half of 2026 (for the big two companies). This is the first time Superman and Spider-Man have shared a comic book together in 50 years (and that was the first time the two companies had crossed over, so it’s worth revisiting). There’s just so much fun to be had between these two characters, and they’re cramming so many extra stories into this one-shot, you can’t go wrong!
Digital Back Issue of the Week:

INCREDIBLE HULK #368: “Upon being ambushed by Doc Samson and company in Las Vegas, Hulk jumps aboard a moving freight train…where he encounters a shadowy figure.”
With the recent passing away of the legendary artist Sam Keith (creator of “The Maxx”, one of the most iconic 90’s comics/animated series), it’s worth checking out some of the artist’s prior work (and not just Keith’s run on “The Sandman” for DC. Everyone knows Keith’s artwork from the Sandman, let’s explore other oddities!). Here’s a great stand alone story from Peter David’s run on “Incredible Hulk”, with artwork by Keith. It just makes for a great trip down memory lane, and shows why Sam Keith’s unique artwork is worth celebrating!
So what are you reading this week?!?
