Rare announced at Comic-Con that it’s celebrating its 30th anniversary with the release of the soundtrack to Battletoads, their iconic ultra-hard NES classic, on a giant vinyl disc that is as green as a warty frog.
The record will be sold elsewhere, but a special edition of only 300 copies will be available only at SDCC. This edition comes wrapped in a stylish jacket with art by Brooklyn artist Nick Gazin. It’s got Toads on the front and his take on the Dark Queen in the gatefold:
Battletoads itself will be reissued as part of Rare Replay, the 30-game collection of remastered games from Rare’s long history that’s coming to XBox One systems soon. And in case you’re wondering, the bug that makes beating the game impossible in two-player mode will be fixed.
In honor of Rare Replay, Microsoft has another collectible for sale you’ll never get to buy: this special edition poster print featuring all the characters invented in the history of the British software company, except for all the extra Kongs.
SDCC will only sell 400 copies of the print, so you have a slightly higher chance of nabbing one, but not by much.
