At the Cannes Film Festival, Salma Hayek sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss her work as a voice over actor and a producer on The Prophet, based on the renowned novel by Kahlil Gibran. The movie screened a work-in-progress print at Cannes, showcasing the work of the nine animation directors (Tomm Moore, Joan C. Gratz, Joann Sfar, Bill Plympton, Paul and Gaetan Brizzi, Michal Socha, Nina Paley and Mohammed Saeed Harib), all working under the main director Roger Allers. The movie also sports an all-star voice cast, with Liam Neeson, John Krasinski, Frank Langella, Alfred Molina and Quvenzhane Wallis all providing voices for the film.

Among other topics, Hayek discusses the challenges of adapting the extremely philosophical novel into a film and her personal connection to the book and how it reminds her of her grandfather.
