Pixar has mostly struck gold with original films, but has had trouble in recent years with sequels. Cars 2 and Monsters University weren’t very popular with critics or Pixar die-hards. Maybe Finding Dory can reverse that troublesome trend.
Director Andrew Stanton, who was behind the original Finding Nemo, is aware how risky sequels can be despite the perceived ease of attracting people with an already proven property. “It’s more often that somebody fails at a sequel than they succeed. You don’t want it to be derivative or redundant,” he says.
Stanton will also be directing Nemo’s sequel, which is due in less than a year. You can expect the first Finding Dory trailer to appear before The Good Dinosaur later this month, but why wait? It’s right here:
