What’s going on with Nintendo and these leaks? Is there a Nintendo Direct coming?
2017 was a magnificent year for the Nintendo Switch, however, with 2018, the future is very unclear. However, certain “signs and portents” are pointing to a Nintendo Direct coming very soon, maybe even as soon as next week.
First off, before the year ended, a leaked EA document pointed to a Nintendo Direct happening in January to show off their game Fe, which is confirmed to be coming to Switch. Then, just as the new year was set to be started, Amazon dropped 16 new Switch games on their site that were “announced during latest Nintendo event”, seemingly pointing to a Direct, except one didn’t happen yet, so they were put up by mistake. Just as quickly as they were put up, they were taken down, likely because someone at Nintendo caught the error.
All this seems to point to a Direct coming. But when? Well, there is a rumor going around that it could happen on the 11th, which is a Thursday. Others think it’ll happen between the 15th-19th, but there’s only speculation.
Regardless, Nintendo does need a massive Nintendo Direct to kick off the year, especially given that only three 1st party games for the Nintendo Switch are confirmed for this year in Yoshi, Kirby, and Fire Emblem. We need more information. Hopefully we’ll get it soon.
