All those looking forward to the return of Mirror’s Edge will have to wait a few months longer. Originally announced for a February 23, 2016 release, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst has been delayed into May.

“We set out an ambitious vision for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst,” said producer Sara Jansson. “Achieving that vision and delivering the best possible experience is equally inspiring and challenging. And it takes time.” According to Jansson, the sequel has a much bigger scope than the original did, which isn’t surprising given the switch from set paths to an open world.

This may turn out for the better. If Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst had arrived on February 23 like they originally planned, it would have had to compete with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Far Cry Primal, set to arrive on the same day. The original was released during a noisy time and its sales suffered as a result. Best to avoid that scenario happening twice.

The original Mirror’s Edge came out in 2008 for Playstation 3 and XBox 360, with a PC version arriving the following year. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst will be out for Playstation 4, XBox One and PC.
