Young Justice
"Alpha Male"

Original Airdate: Friday, October 7th, 2011

Synopsis: Already exhausted and rattled after a home turf invasion of The Cave, The Team learns that Aqualad – their friend and leader – withheld vital information that put them all at risk. When Batman sends the Team and new “den-mother” Captain Marvel to India to investigate bizarre reports of armed animals attacking human beings, can Aqualad pull his fractured Team together?

So the Belle Reve collars and Kobra Venom are being used... It seems like The Light's Plan might be starting to come together.

The Brain, and Monsieur Mallah?

Haven't seen those two since Teen Titans.

"Get your paws off her, you darn dirty ape!"

Couldn't resist, could they? I like it though.

I know it's an issue with his secret identity but couldn't Captain Marvel just Shazamed back into billy, slip the collar off, and the Shazamed back into Captain Marvel.

Great episode this week, it honestly may have been my favorite episode of Young Justice ever due to the fun story and the overall plot, I loved it! Just wondering, but did anyone else catch the Planet of the Apes reference about 3/4 of the way through the episode?

Great episode! though I could have gone with out the huge amount of drama that finding out that there may have been a spy brought about. I thought that Aqualad should have taken control a lot quicker because they happen to be on a mission.

Man those commerical breaks are such momentum killers!!!

This is not as great as last week's but I might change my mind after re-watching it again.

Captain Marvel should've taken care of those mammoths with ease but I guess they de powered him. And I know he's a kid but he's a JL member and he should be more authoritive instead of him being under Aqualad. He is their Den Mother after all.

And isn't Captain Marvel invulnerable too?? That Brain contrapment shouldn't even dent him.

Bah. My scheduling is weird. I guess I missed it when it originally aired at 6:30 Eastern.. but for some reason.. it's 7:24 Eastern now and Batman: Brave and the Bold is on :<

Tonight's episode of Young Justice focuses on the team's new "den mother"...Captain Marvel!

*We start the episode in India where a hunter is looking for a tiger. Woah, it's Messier Mallah! Unlike his Teen Titans' counterpart, he's got a machine gun! Now we have yet to hear if he talks in this version or not...

*The "Young Justice Cave" is being rebuilt and the team finds out Aqualad didn't tell 'em about the mole (thanks to Superboy's super hearing). They don't take it too well...I'd say Superboy took it the worst.

*Ah, so the "den mother" will be rotated until further notice, Captain Marvel is the first. Ah, so that hunter was Mayor Hill of Gotham City. Batman's respond about not joking was pretty powerful.

*Unlike Red Tornado, Captain Marvel actually wants to help out, I love how his dialogue foreshadows his true identity and the team's over thinking his dialogue...

*The team has serious trust issues and chaos ensures! Robin and Kid Flash ignore Aqualad and Superboy gets over protective of Miss Martian. I understand Miss Martian's frustration towards Superboy, but I'm surprised at Artemis snarling at him, I would have thought she'd snarl at Aqualad.

*So those animals are on Kobra-Venom back from Drop Zone? Talk about, Nightmare Fuel! Suberboy's fight with the wolves reminded me of when Beast fought a pack of them in Beauty and the Beast.

*Ah, the collars are the one from Terrors. That and Kobra-Venom definitely make a deadly combo!

*Captain Marvel has been been captured by Mallah! What does he want with the hero?

*All that ranting/complaining going on in your head could really make a person snap! I'm actually surprised Aqualad didn't shout at them to shut up, gotta give him credit for not completely loosing his temper under all that stress!

*Uh oh, Captain Marvel is about to have some brain surgery by (who else?) the Brain! Brain has finally made his "formal appearance", seeing as how we all agree that he is the 6th Light Member. Mallah in a doctor surgeon outfit was kinda funny, I must admit.

*That fight outside the fortress was pretty cool!

*The Brain getting all "weapon'd up" only for the lights to turn off was pretty anti-climactic...which made it pretty funny!

*Superboy and Miss Martian calmly resolve their tension and now have a "pet" wolf! The nod to Krypto was nice.

*Captain Marvel's got a new jungle animal friend too! I always did like tigers!

*Aqualad reveals that he heard about the mole from Sports Master, Artemis' reaction was particularly fitting. After calmly hearing Aqualad's reasons, the others actually see he had a point...and decide to keep him as their leader.

*Captain Marvel returns home and has some cookies! His excited reaction while still in "Captain Marvel form" was a Crowning Moment of Funny! He turns back into Billy right at the episode's end.

This was quite an intense episode! Definitely an absolute adrenaline rush! We finally made it to the half way mark of the 1st Season! Bring on the second half of Season 1!

S - for the endless wisdom of Solomon
H - for the legendary strength of Hercules
A - for the stamina and might of Atlas
Z - for the overwhelming power of Zeus
A - for the courage and invulnerability of Achilles
M - for the peerless speed and power of flight of the god Mercury

He does.

ITA!

I thought at least one other team member would have thought that Aqualad had good reason to keep things under wraps while investigating the mole possibility. Instead, we get a bunch of teens acting like 9 year olds about it! Aqualad definitely should have put his foot down sooner.

Nice to see GL John Stewart early on in this ep.

Also loved seeing Captain Marvel and Uncle Dudley! When I saw the tiger I kept wondering if they would call him Tawney! Like the "Planet of the Apes" joke, they just couldn't resist.

I thought The Brain's plan was a tad silly. Why would he (it?) think they could see wisdom by cutting open Captain Marvel's head even if it is derived from Solomon?

An ape that dresses like Che?

Two words: "monkey lice!"

First a giant pet ball, now a pet wolf. Hope the ball doesn't get jealous.

I don't think the Brain was being serious about that. He was probably making fun of Captain Marvel before dissecting him alive.

They placed their trust in Aqualad by putting him in charge and he kept secrets from them. Secrets that almost killed all of them. They have every right to be angry at him.

It made sense for Aqualad not to tell anyone as he was investigating if there really was a mole. In theory, it could have been one of the other members and by telling them, he may have tipped his hand if one of them is a mole. Then that mole would make it even harder to be caught.

What happened at the cave in the previous ep would have happened mole or not. If he had told them, the team members may have decided to treat each other with suspicion (considering the way they behaved after finding out about Aqualad's secret investigation, I wouldn't doubt it) and that would have made it very difficult to work as a team.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold now airs new episodes at 7:00 PM. Generator Rex airs new episodes at 6:00 PM. So, your scheduling isn't weird at all! Young Justice will continue to air new episodes at 6:30 PM.

I enjoyed it. The mutant animals were well designed - particularly the giant elephants. Strong enough to match Captain Marvel! Now that's cool. So I get the feeling this was the "test run" for widespread human testing of the Venom/Blockbuster strain... very interesting.

Wonder what Wolf's purpose will be. The Ball so far is... alright, I guess, but not really relevant. Interesting to see Superboy making his own pack, so to speak.

Loved Captain Marvel in this one, too. The right balance of mentor and little kid; going too far in either direction makes him sort of lame, but I think this was a good combination. Looking forward to further interactions.

Oh, and, the Brain! And Mallah! Two of my favorite villains! Wonder what he had in store for Marvel.

No they didn't, most of them just snapped on Aqualad. Really only Miss Martian was on Superboy for trying to keep her safe, and that was only for a few minutes.
