Witch Hunter Robin seems promising

She looks cute when she just wakes up. Of course she loses the pigtails while going to sleep.

It's not that I want her to look cute, I just want her to look like she possess two X chromosomes. Right now , judging by the promo visuals that is in doubt.

The only thing I object to with WHR so far is that the girl, Robin I guess, is totally unattractive to me. Maybe it's the stupid pigtails. If Adult Swim censors the pigtails I'll be very happy.

Why does she have to look cute?

EDIT: After reading your last post, I don't really know what you've been seeing. I never had any doubt whatsoever that she was a girl.

I'm not a fan of the pigtail look, but it didn't particularly repel me. I like the design otherwise. I'm mostly enthusiastic about the show. My only real concern is the quality of the storytelling. I have had a few accounts of it being rather boring (not slow moving, just boring) over the first bunch (as in 9 or so) episodes.

I am giving it the benefit of the doubt, however, I still think it will turn out worthwhile.

Boring is the word to use if you're a person that has to have action right now and all the time. It's still interesting.

I own the first 3 dvds, and all the episodes are excellent. The dub is excellent as well with great VAs like Johnny Young Bosch, Wende Lee, and Crispin Freeman. Granted, Ep6 sounds like they were bored while doing that episode though, but still great.

I highly recommend watching this series, even if it does do what other series about witches does, show them as supernatural beings.

Oh yeah, she is a hand drawn character, so who cares what she looks like. And she looks like a girl 100% of the time. The only character that does not look their gender is the bar tender dude.

Here's the bottom line. The main plot of the story doesn't begin to unveal until episode 13. And then from there, the rest of the eps will build on that plot. Like Bebop, every episode within the first 13 are episodic, each one standing out on it's own with it's own "hunt". Like someone said, It's only boring if your an action freak. A number of the first 13 eps are actually very good and. I mean, visually it's beautiful, the main character is very lovable despite the fact that some of you have been turned away by the pig tails. I think she's actually cute.

The only problem here is the pretty bad dubbing . It really takes away from the characters I think. Unfortunatley the two main lead characters don't have very stellar voice acting. If only Bandai had done WHR's dubbing the way they did Bebop's. If I were to compare WHR's dubbing to a current AS show, it would probably be somewhere along the lines of Inu Yasha.

HAHA..that's very true and his english voice makes it worst. His japanese voice was good and he became "cool" later on in the series. But, from the first few dvd eps, his voice doesn't sound like his gender.

Well I don't really hate it. I just think the voice performace gives the character a different feel with the good Japanese dub than the par english dub.


EDIT: Well to be honest, I just watched some of episode 5 again to relook the english dub and well It's not quite as bad I said earlier. Definitely not as bad as the english Inu Yasha dub that I compared it to. But still, WHR is a show I prefer to watch with dvd subtitles instead.

The shows are in no way similar. Unless you count the fact that they both have people.

Too bad, I thought Reign was incredible. Anyhow, all I've seen is the teaser commercials on AS I'd have to see the series to be sure. It's just that based on the commercials I can't tell Robin apart from the guys in the show based on facial features or body type except for the pigtails which I find pretty badly done and ugly.

Personally on real girls I like pigtails QUITE a bit.
