Who is Cartoon Network's "Mickey Mouse"?

This question came to my mind after watching the Nick Knacks retrospective on Inspector Gadget proclaim that the Inspector Gadget character was essentially the mascot for the DiC animation studio. With Nickelodeon, I think that at this point in history, it's a no brainer that SpongeBob SquarePants is their respective "Mickey Mouse".

My first inclination is to want to say Scooby Doo is Cartoon Network's unofficial mascot but he existed well before Cartoon Network was around. I feel that it would be better served to take it consideration a more "modern" and original creation.

It's really hard to say, in 2000's to early 2010's the role of the network's mascot was between The Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10, currently "Teen Titans Go" and/or Gumball is the SpongeBob/Mickey Mouse of the channel.

No one. Cartoon Network doesn't have a cartoon like that and most probably never will. Everyone knows Mickey Mouse or Spongebob. They're icons. But not everyone knows The Powerpuff Girls, Finn and Jake or Ben 10 (arguably the most popular shows CN made).

As you said, Scooby Doo is the closest thing to being an icon that CN airs. But Scooby Doo was well known before CN even existed so it shouldn't count, and neither should Tom and Jerry or the Looney Tunes characters (which from what I heard aired on Nick too at some point).

Tbh, no CN cartoon has ever reached Mickey Mouse level of iconic. Not even shows like PowerPuff Girls and Adventure Time. Sure you could say Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry are iconic, but they aren't true CN originals and they existed way before CN even became a channel

Yeah, like most people said above, there's no other CN "mascots" can reach Spongebob or Mickey Mouse levels of iconography.

This question is kind of meaningless.

I honestly think as of late, CN wants Finn and Jake to be their equivalent to Mickey or SpongeBob, which is why they've had this refusal to let the Adventure Time brand die even after the main series ended 2 years ago. Characters still show up on their social media pages, they're a very present part of the recent Cartoon Network Hotel, and of course there's the recent Distant Land miniseries.

Personally, I think they need to let Adventure Time go and focus on their future, but that's just me. It just seems weird that they went out of their way to ignore the show in its last couple of years to still giving it more merchandise opportunities than Gumball.

are they trying to make teen titans go their Mickey mouse if so
please stop it's painful

Who else lasted on CN as long and went through as many changes?
Plus, said changes reflected the network's eras.
Sure, the latest reboot is the longest they've gone without a revamp,
but still this franchise is celebrating 15 years.
There is the one issue of the whole color palette swap from white/black to green/black,
since the white/black would obviously make people think of:

Unfortunately, Cartoon Network never really had a character that defined the channel. For the 90's, I would say Scooby Doo and Looney Tunes came close to being icons for the network. At first, Cartoon Network always bragged about its tremendous variety of animated series during the 90's and early 2000's so it was kind of pointless just to have one show represent the entire network. As of now, there still isn't a show that represents the channel. However, Cartoon Network has always relied on their unmistakable black and white logo.

The closest I think they have is Powerpuff Girls, but CN doesn’t really have a mascot.

Definitely the Powerpuff Girls. They are more than that. They are the Cartoon Network's Sonic the Hedgehog.

Yeah I'd argue it's probably Ben 10, since it is their most profitable franchise and the show that's gotten the most iterations. Powerpuff Girls and Adventure Time are a close second though. Though, I've always wondered why CN hasn't been able to get a show near Mickey Mouse/SpongeBob's level of popularity.

Back in 1990s, it would be Droopy, Bugs Bunny or Yogi or Scooby Doo, or gangs of HB characters.

Either a toss-up between PPG or Ben 10.
IMHO, such mascot nonsense is otherwise unnecessary.

Hmm. Probably Adventure Time since that's something even the Simpsons parodied. After that it would be Teen Titans Go! based on the cultural interconnection and legacy, though that isn't an entirely original property, and Steven Universe which was big for a time. Then Ben 10 in most territories, generally larger reception, followed by Gumball which seems to do better in Europe/UK. Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Courage, Johnny Bravo are on the same boat, but moreso in Europe and Asia. Edd Ed n Eddy would be an honorable mention at least for length at the time.

I could see Droopy being the "Mickey Mouse" of Cartoon Network's early years. He was after-all, the very first character to appear on camera and speak when Cartoon Network launched on October 1, 1992.

Uh being the first doesn't make you the Mickey Mouse. I mean Mickey Mouse wasn't Walt Disney's first major cartoon character since there was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and even Pete before Mickey

Honestly I don't really think we've had a Mickey Mouse equivalent for Cartoon Network. Stuff like Spongebob are rarities you can't really strike more then once a generation and honestly from now to even then CN isn't the kind of network that really would allow an original character to maintain that long a shelf life to really come close to even being a single solitary mascot. Not to mention that a lot of the more prominent characters over the years aren't exactly their originals. Like Space Ghost was a big fixture back in the day and Teen Titans are now but CN doesn't own either of those and honestly even stuff like Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10 have gone through too many revisions and breaks without one specific solid continuity or lasting image to really say "yeah THAT'S our Msacot" like Spongebob has.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.
