The Mountain Wrecker Wins and a Studio Dies
Warner Bros Discovery, a once proud and powerful global media powerhouse that has revolutionized the entertainment industry for over a centu...thoughtnami.blogspot.com
Even at a server I'm in, as if we jumped to conclusions, they're making CN bumpers for Nick showsHonestly im pumped. The schedules will be insane. My head cant wrap around the possibilities.
Adult Swim can really air Daria, Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux, The Maxx, The Head and many more...
Nick can air hits like Adventure Time or even obscure stuff like Juniper Lee now and LooneyTunes again...
Comedy Central can air Rick and Morty or Smiling Friends...
Cartoonito can air Dora...
NickJr. can air Batwheels...
CN can air Hey Arnold...
And that would mark the end of DFC.But it's not likely that any of those channels will ever air My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which has been on Discovery Family for too long now, and should just move exclusively to streaming, like in the rest of the world, including Canada.
Ellison could resort to split the linear TV business later if they lose more money and want to shift the debt related to linear TV into separate company.Looks like WBD’s cable assets won’t get shot out back after all. (Getting split off into a new company with mountains of debt pretty much guarantees a short future)
Yes, it would fold into 20th Century Animation and use label for sequels.then what were the plans for blue sky studios after nimona release and blue sky studios folding, use blue sky studios name as a brand for films & future ip uses like hanna barbera name?
The linear network with split ownership is complicated, so Ellison would target the WBD linear that is 100% owned for chopping block and reorganization first, leaving DFC as untouched for while. It means Boomerang could closes as DFC dodges the closure.well, maybe firepuppy will be happy to see hasbro shows to be removed from discovery family
Same here, that worried me a lot because own two major studios didn't end up well. Now I’m worried David Ellison is just going to shut down/merge redundant assets, lay people off, and sell either the Warner or Paramount film lots.
Actually much sooner and if revamped CNN get rating failure, so Ellison could fire the CEO and revert to old format, or sell or close CNN for good. Chris Licht tried and didn't end up well, so he got fired.CNN will likely be no more in 10 years if it goes full MAGA under the Ellisons. If a channel suffers from low ratings, then it is a money-losing proposition to keep it operating.
As it was said earlier.
AT&T-Time Warner was vertical merger that has less requirement and less restriction than horizontal merger.Back when AT&T bought Time Warner, Trump was at the office, and the EU still approved the acquisition. So I can't really think about it.
There are few scenarios. The better question is, if EU rejects but in the US it gets approved, what would happen next?
Pfff! That's only what you think. Even as a joint venture, I don't think Discovery Family will even make it anyway. The linear network with split ownership is complicated, so Ellison would target the WBD linear that is 100% owned for chopping block and reorganization first, leaving DFC as untouched for while. It means Boomerang could closes as DFC dodges the closure.
That's why I said streamlining.Ellison could resort to split the linear TV business later if they lose more money and want to shift the debt related to linear TV into separate company.
After all, future of linear networks is uncertainty with exception of sport channels.
No, it is not my thought but it is logical about jointly-run linear networks are complicated with few scenarios, so one would be sold to Hasbro to take 100% if Hasbro don't want to withdraw.Pfff! That's only what you think. Even as a joint venture, I don't think Discovery Family will even make it anyway.
Yes, you are right and Paramount would have to get a big loan to buy WBD, so it means very larger debt.Paramount still can’t afford to buy WBD even if they win, right?
Possibly, if Paramount-WBD turn out to be more crisis, so they could try to license the contents out to any streaming services, including Netflix. And Netflix will probably retaliate to losing WB by removing everything WB and Paramount owns from their service, which does include some Netflix originals, so those would have to find new homes.
Well said, agreed with you.I stayed away from this thread, and probably for the best. I had already stated my position and that position has not changed. I was against either company buying it and still am. I hoped Netflix's deal would go down, and I hope Paramount deal goes down. And there are good people on the job who wanted neither to happen too. California's AG was already going to be looking at either and hopefully when any deal is reached that they will sue to block, hopefully other states and other groups join the fun to block too. Mergers have been stopped and can be stopped. I wish Discovery didn't do this in the first place and found ways to ignore "SkyDance is totally real studio" man instead of opening a bid last year, but hey.
Ugggh... don't you get it!?!?! Hasbro's investment on DFC is $0 now, so their share of the channel is in grave danger! No, it is not my thought but it is logical about jointly-run linear networks are complicated with few scenarios, so one would be sold to Hasbro to take 100% if Hasbro don't want to withdraw.
Rely on M&A to change the ownership? You could be more disappointed if Ellison don't pull Hasbro out.
Nobody know about future of linear networks, so it is just scenario or speculation.
Don't be upset at me for just shared realistic scenario and I have zero control with Hasbro.
It’s just that my fear is that the president will just let the deal slide through in a flash because he is friends with the Ellisons.Yes, you are right and Paramount would have to get a big loan to buy WBD, so it means very larger debt.
I hope that Paramount deal goes down. Netflix is out.
