"Tiny Toons Looniversity" News & Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Yeah people on Twitter are saying it's probably fake or just a test demo.

This is probably fake, peoples. Or not actually going to be part of the show proper.
Babs sounded like Ashleigh though and the clip got taken down after a news page posted it on Twitter due to copyright so it might be real

A new clip from the first episode.

The animation quality.... looks kinda weird. Buster's new voice doesn't sound close to the original one, Babs' new voice however sound quite okay.

I think we need a full trailer to make a proper judgement, 46 seconds of the leaked material doesn't satisfy me enough.

Apparently, this is who we're gonna get as Buster in the reboot. Ben Giroux of Big Nate fame.

Also, neither of them are wearing gloves now!
Buster wore gloves, but not Babs. Although a few shots in "Rock n' Roar" gave her gloves, too.

Need I also say that Snipple's working on the show?

That's not a surprise. Snipple's been WB's go-to Philippines studio for a while now. Not sure why they stopped using Toon City.

I know quite a few Toon City animators have moved over to Snipple, who can often turn out VERY fluid and high-quality animation reminiscent of Toon City, as "Green Eggs and Ham," "Looney Tunes Cartoons" and the "Animaniacs" revival demonstrate. Heck, their "Wabbit"/"New Looney Tunes" and "Scooby-Doo and Guess Who" episodes have noticeably more fluid animation than the Korean studios involved with those shows... most of the time. (Coincidentally, Toon City animated the initial pilot for "Wabbit," but were dropped in favor of Snipple.)

Uh, how did you see anything? The video was removed and now the whole tweet is.
And I understand it was test footage anyway?

Babs sounds alright but Buster's voice sounds way off and it's strange seeing him without eye-color while Babs has her eye-color.
Not strange, not even in the original.

The animation looks cheap, and Buster sounds like Humphrey the Hippo from The Critic, but the "filler for my ears" gag did make me laugh.

I wouldn't be surprised. In fact, I'd say this sounds like test marketing to me. This is just speculation on my part, but I'm guessing that WB isn't entirely confident that this show will exactly be welcomed with open arms no matter what they do, so they're testing it first by (indirectly) announcing the whole "Buster and Babs are siblings" thing, and then putting out this footage with different voice actors to see how people react; you know, to see how people would feel about a "modern take" (from the makers' perspective) on the "Tiny Toons" idea.

In my personal opinion, the best thing they can do for this new show (at least) is to go back to the "no relation" idea, since that would be truer to who the characters are. As I mentioned before, it's not so much the original show, as it is the characters themselves, since they're supposed to be "animated actors", just like the classic WB characters before them.

On a related note, let me just say that I disagree with the idea that the original show is "outdated", mainly because it's just like saying that the classic shorts are outdated...

Dude, it's already been set into motion. Production on the new series has already begun. That ship has sailed. Look at how many different versions that there are of Superman, Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Buster and Babs can be whatever the smeg their creators want them to be because they're fictional characters. If Babs and Buster being twins is truly a deal breaker for you, well, there are other things that you can watch, including the original Tiny Toon Adventures.

To be fair, in the original series, the characters would mention that it was the 1990s quite a bit ("Hey, it's the 90s!" "Welcome to the 90s!" "Join the 90s!", etc.), and while such jokes were seen as cutting edge at the time when they original aired now come off as very dated.

I never really watched Tiny Toons that much so I don't really have any strong feelings.
I'm fine with them recasting if they want to start fresh a la DuckTales 2017, and that they at least got people with some VA experience instead of celebrity stuntcasting.

A new Tiny Toons leak was posted and I'm sure won't be up for long.

For those who can't watch it it shows Buster and Babs arriving at Acme Looniversity and being upset they've been assigned to different dorms since they've never lived apart from each other.

I'm guessing this is from some sort of internal pitch/ test animation. Some people are speculating the earlier leak was before they made Buster and Bans twins since the toons knew they were in a reboot in that one while this one was about them being twins and arriving at the university.

I think Keith Ferguson is the official voice for Buster in the series whereas Ben Giroux did him for the test footage. Keith does a pretty decent job as Buster imo!

(saw it before it was taken down) Still not great. I will say the animation was better in this clip, though. But still nowhere near the level of the original series on its best days.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
