The Toonami Thread

Why wouldn't he?

The 3D modelling in their newest preview clip rivals the professional work done for Toonami towards the end of it's lifespan.

Steve may consider such a dedicated fan movement worth promoting. He did afterall record TOM lines for a few convention videos.

None the less he is probably talking about something coming from CN/WS. That would explain the return of the Toonami page on CN's website.

i like neo toonami but ii rele hope its about regular toonami haha

ok all i have to say is i really really I MEAN REALLY HOPE THIS IS TRUE

because if this passes there will be two awesome blocks on cartoon network,DC Nation and hopefully a revived(non tom 4....you know what even with tom 4 im not picky at all now)..Toonami
two action blocks i can safely say cartoon network is trimming off that horrible fat and getting back into shape to the point im liking the majority of what they have now. :)

If they do intend to revive Toonami in some capacity and there's something about that airing on March 30th at 8PM two days after their upfront then I've gotta say it's a pitty that they'll miss Toonami's Birthday by about 2 weeks but I suppose if it is something big they'd want to promote it at the upfront first.

I still think an online streaming Toonami like Jetstream before it is the most likely way they'll consider reviving the Toonami brand but maybe someone over at CN decided they need to do more than just DC Nation to draw viewers to their action brands and are gambling that Toonami is a name that could aid them in revitalizing their action programming.

Would it perhaps be horribly ironic if they brought Toonami back on September 28th (or 29th) of this year? Exactly 4 years after it's cancellation. Maybe they feel that's a more suitable time to bring it back than around March 17th.

Legal reasons. NeoToonami is definitely in a legal gray area. If not flat out illegal.

If anime companies found out he was promoting illegal streams, he'd be screwed.

I kinda could see Toonami coming back at this point. In 2008, pretty much no-one cared about it until the point it got cancelled. It was... just there. You expected it to be there forever and people took it for granted.

If it came back in 2012, there'd be so much more hype than it had ever got. It would kinda make sense to reboot Toonami than launch a new action brand.

Adventure Time/Regular Show/Amazing Gumball + DC Nation + Toonami = Best Cartoon Network's been ever.

I really hope this is true because it's the only thing thats going to get me back to watching CN again like the old days.:tom:

Why is everyone jumping to conclusions? Even the more skeptical members are already planning Toonami's Welcome Back party. He didn't say that Toonami was returning. This could just be Toonami merchandise or TOM being added to Punch Time Explosion.

He's mentioned Neo at conventions before.

Him mentioning it again seems at least as likely as CN reviving Toonami in any capacity.

its coming back i think maybe the tweet was about to new ben 10 or maybe even a rebrand and steve could of been talkin about anynoe like a merchindise or something i hope its true tho:tom:

It couldn't have been about Ben 10, since he doesn't have anything to do with that series. And as for a rebrand, those aren't usually announced by anyone and happen at total random most of the time after a set amount of years (usually 2), and for CN it happens right after AS at 6:00 AM.

He played vilgax in the original. I'm not sure about alien force though. But he said Toonami related. Not Ben 10.

Edit: Steve Blum said he was talking about fan projects and there are no official Toonami related plans in his twitter

So it seems Andy Merril's tweet isn't about Toonami, but a Zorak/Brak thing.

Still awesome, though, and we're probably gonna hear something about what Steve Blum was talking about anyway. Maybe CN's working with official anime licensors on some sort of deal with Neo Toonami to make it go legit a la Crunchyroll?

That would be a fairly interesting development. Having Neo go "official". A little sad that Toonami coming back did not turn out to be factual. I was getting excited. Still though. Damn. Enough "evidence" was there to make the skeptics believe it was coming back.:sweat:

You guys are aware that discussing Neo Toonami is a violation of the TOS, right?

I was hoping, I was hoping, I was hoping . . .

Called it.

But take heed as what Merril is talking about proves CN is actually celebrating it's history and Toonami is a part of that history.

I wonder if the Cartoon Planet thing will be a special or a regular fixture and I also wonder if it will feature newer cartoons, older ones or both. For instance using it to encore the weeks comedy premieres with unique wrap arounds might be what they're going for.

Well, so much for that I guess.

Also, and this is a general thing, but censorship bugs me.

I won't talk about things if I shouldn't, but..

So where/when did we learn of the returning cartoon planet? Haven't found an ounce of info anywhere...

Its because Andy Merril has worked on Cartoon Planet before. There was also a video someone posted a while back on these boards about the crew of Space Ghost Coast to Coast discussing their show (as well as casually mentioning CN's 20th anniversary). Needless to say, the video shed a little more light on the whole "return of Cartoon Planet" thing.

When is cartoon planet going to return?

You're calling that just cause he hasn't officially said anything about it returning or not and you're right...way to hope that all Toonami fans dream is crushed

To celebrate the fact that I got three weeks off from work for rest, I watched today the latest installment in the separate Minions series of movies. What I loved was the unique logo variation of the Universal logo, which was akin to the plot taking place in the late 1800s
