THE SIMPSONS "The Sweetest Apu"

First, Bart writes: "I will not lie about being cancelled" on the chalkboard.

The FAMILY GUY moment had to be there on purpose. When Homer is "Backing off in fear" for about 30 seconds.

Kirk Van Houten being pitiful again. They're setting something up. I think next season you'll see something DECENT happen to Kirk.

It was nice to see James Lipton blown away.

Is it just me, or was that episode NOT that bad? I thought the "I WILL NOT LIE ABOUT BEING CANCELLED" was hilarious. How'd they get that into an episode a few days before it aired? Funny stuff, yes.

Man, I LOVED this episode! Some parts were just so funny! A couple of the best moments:

1) All the double entendres while playing badminton.

"Oh Apu, you score every time I have my back turned!"
"Maybe I should get another partner?"
"I'll just go get the shuttle cock."

2) Homer's line near the end about eating a light bulb: "Don't worry, I soaked it in the toilet to make it softer."

I don't know why, but I just started laughing uncontrollably at that point.

3) The whole McBain/Lipton thing.

4) Bart, Lisa and Maggie trying to be Ganesh. (I'm Hindu, which is probably why I understood it so well and found it so funny)

5) And finally ... the chocolate Taj Mahal and "Can I lick your fingers? Meet me at the mailslot."

This felt like a classic episode :). Did anyone else like Disco Stu's appearance ("The South shall boogie again") or the spider machine from Wild Wild West?

"The Sweetest Apu"

Not as good as last week's, but not the worst of the season either. I thought the traumitized back-up joke went on a little too long, and then was reused at the end, with a ladder...and I hated the unfeeling lawyer, an obvious test replacement for Lionel Hutz. Puh-leeeeze do not make him a regular character!

Barney falls off the wagon and drinks a beer in this episode! They didn't follow it up here, but are they foreshadowing a return to alcoholism for the big fella?

Homer's "So cold...so cold" is a ref to Catch-22; these two words were uttered repeatedly by a dying soldier in the cockpit as Yossarian held him in his arms.

Dan Rather as a sniveling talking head was pretty funny. I'd swear that was actually him as the voice, if I didn't know better. "And when I get back I want a foot rub!" "Yes, master."

The spider machine got a big laugh out of me. "This battlefield is rife with historical inaccuracies. You dead people, stop playing cards!"

"Oh, you've had less than eight kids, haven't you!" I must say I liked the Squishie Lady's licorice trick.... :p

DYN that Homer spelled Apu's name with two O's on the battered keg?

"Dirty love...I-I mean, thirty love!"

It was Tom Brokaw, not Dan Rather. And I don't remember seeing any celebrity names in the end credits.

JTurner954: It was Tom Brokaw, not Dan Rather.
Oops. But that's why pundits call them "talking heads"--these broadcast journalists are virtually interchangable. That was the ubiquitous Harry Shearer, unless I miss my guess, who does the half of the cast Dan Castellaneta doesn't. ;)
Also...not to imply the writers are stealing or anything, but Homer's dilemma--particularly the twitchy left eye--was somewhat reminiscent of a King of the Hill ep in which he caught his mom and stepdad making love on the kitchen table and suffered an attack of hysterical blindness.

Also voiced by Milhouse when Bart gets fleas from a monley and says "Milhouse was playing with it too. How come nothing happened to him?"

I also like the "Cuz if they don't...PI-SHEEWW, PI-SHEEWW" (referring to the hangliding mayhem)

hehe, i think its great they added that in such short notice! :)

I've been saying this for a while but this season is the revival of faith season. People that hated the last few Seasons are finding the show good again with this one.

The chalkboard gag was good, and I got a few good laughs along the way, but it really wasn't that good.

The hangliding laser thing was great.

And then he starts chanting "USA! USA!" for some reason.

I loved the Wild Wild West spider thing, too. Great stuff.

How about Bart writing;

"I will not confess openly that this show had dried up and died"

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
