In an effort to prevent the talkback threads from being dragged off-topic, Jay Stephens has agreed to use this thread as a general thread where people can ask him questions about his shows. Jay Stephens is spending his valuable time to engage the fans and answer questions, so please have patience if he doesn’t answer your question. With that, the floor is open – so to speak – so go ahead and ask any questions about “The Secret Saturdays” if you have them and Jay Stephens may answer them in his spare time.

Mr. Stephens
Does Zak's new power constitute longer distance cryptid control, as he no longer needs to make eye contact?

On the unfortunate chance that this might be the last season, do you feel that the season finale will be a satisfying ending to the show?

Are you currently working on any other animated projects?

Yes, I have a question: did you know what you were getting yourself into when you agreed to have this thread? :p

More seriously, I want to know if there are any wheels turning in your head about buttons you could press to get Cartoon Network to sign off on smaller but still profitable Secret Saturdays stuff, such as full-sized comics or even a web comic. I know networks tend to hold their intellectual properties far too tightly, but the costs are so low it would be bound to make money if you were behind the project and had someone at the network who could advocate on your behalf.

Yeah, I know, I just don't know how to let go. I didn't like seeing Zim die when its second season episodes were showing a resurgence in quality, and TSS is a great IP with so much potential. I want a third season, but continued exploration of the Secretverse would be a good consolation prize.

Yes. Zak's newly discovered 'upgrade' to his cryptid-controlling power could allow him some greater distance with practice. Future episodes will explore this idea...

I still have my fingers crossed about a new season, but this story arc ends, in my opinion, on a wonderful note. It would make a perfect finale to the series.

Are you currently working on any other animated projects?

Absolutely! I've been busy cooking up new show ideas for awhile now. I'll keep you posted (via my blog monsterama.blogspot.com ) as things develop. I won't be revealing every idea that pops into my head, for obvious reasons... just the ones that make it into development.

Wow, well it's good to know that Jay! Me and the other fans are also crossing our fingers for a new season but if the show ends this season, i'm glad it doesn't end in a cliffhanger or some revelation we needed to see on the next season.

btw Jay, remember that you mention about TSS having a manga issue? I read that it will be release until fall of 2010, does it take that long? I know you're not completely involve with it but still.

Also are we going to see any new TSS stuff? Figures, books, DVDs?

Cool. Will the Secret Saturdays encounter the Jersey Devil?

First off, thank you for taking the time to answer fans' questions.

My question is this... without spoiling anything, will we see Abbey Grey again in these upcoming episodes? If it would spoil too much just to answer yes or no, then disregard this question.

Thank you again.

How did you come up with Ulraj, Baron Finster, and Piecemeal?

I think a second wave of toys, etc. is still coming out next year. Not sure of the details yet, though. Nobody has clued me in on that manga book, so I have no information to pass on.

They met up with the Jersey Devil briefly in episode 113, "Crptid vs. Cryptid".

Yes.

How did you come up with Ulraj, Baron Finster, and Piecemeal?
Ulraj and Finster are co-creations with Brandon Sawyer. Piecemeal has been kicking around in my sketchbook for years. We just used our slightly warped brains to imagine them into existence.

YES!!! I do hope that Argost appears, that's what i want from Mattel along with Drew and Fisk but i mean come on, Argost is the main villain and no action figure? Anyway i'm totally saving my money right now for that :)

A good place to spill all my questions!!:anime:

a) Ok, I've noticed that Zon hasn't appeared in season 2 yet, (or maybe I wasn't paying enough attention??)...when will we see her?

b) Will the general public (like residents of NYC) discover that Zak didn't start the Naga invasion? (I think they might, in the last episode...said something about Argost trying to rule the world with cryptids on iTunes...)

c) Will Van Rook start to work for the Saturdays?

d) Would CN consider having a TSS movie? (If the show leaves, might as well leave with a bang!)

e) Will we see Dr. Cheeveyo or Dr. Cheechoo fight against the Saturdays? (We haven't seen any of Dr. Cheeveyo's weapons, and Dr. Cheechoo is a good friend of the Saturdays...)

f) Sorry to bombard you with questions!! Most of the answers to these questions probably have spoilers in them...

What was the inspiration for Zak's power? I don't know much about Kur in Babylonian mythology if that is where you got it.

I know this a question asked a lot especialy among fans but do you think it would be possible to a crossover with Ben 10 (Possibly in the comic published by DC)? and if so how dose the Dover Demon sound as the cryptid or maybe the Grinning Man?

will Van Rook stay with Doyle and Zon like his role in Kur parts 1 and 2 or was that his only appearance with Doyle.

Answering most of these questions would mean spoiling the show, sorry. But here are a couple of answers...

do you think it would be possible to a crossover with Ben 10
We have discussed this at CN, but it was awhile ago. The idea is that Ben and the Saturdays exist in the same 'CN universe', so a crossover is always possible.

Would CN consider having a TSS movie?
Same deal. A live action Saturdays film was discussed early in the game, but CN has changed it's heart regarding the show and a movie seems unlikely at this point.

Depends how well the crossover works, right? since there are some crossovers that.....well, there not that great. If they make a crossover it should be with the first series than AF, i think Zak and Ben will have a rivalry to see which of their powers is best.

A live action? Well it does work since most of the characters are humans and some like Corey Burton will voiced Argost tho it will be hard when it comes to Cryptids with the CGI, they have to look too real. The live action of Ben 10 AF had good special effects(better than the first one) yet it did cost more and they only used a few aliens to save money.

I remeber in Vengeance of The Hibigon, that one of the quotes was very similar to The Dark Knight.

Batman:Let her go!
Joker:Very Poor choice of words

Drew:Put him down!
Mizuki:A Very poor choice of words!

Have you seen The Dark Knight.

Just because it sounds similar doesn't necessarily came from The Dark Knight since there are others that might say the same thing, just a coincidence.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
