Summer of Superman #1 (2025 One-Shot Special) Comic Talkback (Spoilers)

The issue was mostly playing catch-up for new readers but Slott still has a great grasp of the characters' voices and overall tone. I'm glad to see him back at DC after so many years and I hope he sticks around. I always thought his work on the animated DC Comics books and his Arkham Asylum Living Hell mini-series was excellent and I hope he can continue that here. As for this issue again I thought it was good even if a lot of it felt like a recap but I'm intrigued by this Gold Superman at the end. I guess it would make sense to have him gain a new ability to help offset all the Kryptonite now on the planet.

Issue #13

So in World's Finest (set in the past of the current timeline) Supes and Bats goes to the Crime Syndicate world. Where Ultraman is. There we see a pregnant Lois Lane.

So far since this book entered the Reign of the Superboys, kid-Jon has been yanked out of a volcano by a 5th dimensional imp to toy with adult-Jon. Kid-Jon is with a Clark-less Lois, and adult-Jon is hiding behind a new super identity. Meanwhile, Krypto and Damien are both suspicious of the kid-Jon before them. This among other things possibly hinting this is not the real kid-Jon, or something is wrong with him.

When they aged up Jon, I tried to keep my distance. I was so mad at it. I knew I could be annoying about it. So I made distance. I didnt read the solo series. I read the Shazam issue where he was aged down for a hot minute (which made me mad). And was uninterested in DC's efforts to endear adult-Jon. But always had some, tiny hope kid-Jon would come back.

I saw they were doing something with kid-Jon in this event. And saw they yanked him out of the volcano. But seeing these hints kid-Jon may not be genuine... has me worried. If it IS him: cool, just be careful. If it is not: I wish DC would stop. Just stick to your guns, and I will stay away from anything Jon, even if I dont want to.

If all this is a fake out, and kid-Jon is back. Cool, great, be careful with him. But if not, I'm going to have a headache.

Is that Joan Cusack voicing Jessie in that Toy Story Papa John's commercial? If so, it sounds rough. Woundn't surprise me if it wasn't, though.
