"South Park"- Trapped in the Closet- talkback

Wow..this is HILARIOUS!
Funny, I'm thinking the opposite of this episode.

This is probably the WORST, the most retch-inducing pile of boring, pretentious crap of a South Park episode ever done.

And obviously it was planned this way. Funny Trey. Funny Matt. Haha, arent you guys just adorable.

Your a pair of idiots, stop using the damn show to piss people off and do something I'm not going to sit and watch with a blank stare for 30 minutes.

Too many "closet" jokes. 3 outta 5.

GO AHEAD AND SUE ME!

That was the funniest and most brilliant ending the show has ever done. I kept asking myself during the episode "Jeez, how are the producers gonna make sure they don't get sued?" Holy crap, that was funny.

A lot of the "in the closet" jokes missed hard but dang if the credits didn't make up for everything. Best part was the "This is what Scientologists actually believe" crawl over the screen.

I'm actually a little afraid of getting sued for posting this!:ack:

Grade: *****.

I thought it was entertaining enough. The closet jokes got kind of old after the first few times, though I liked the giant "This is what Scientologists actually believe" bar during the story, R. Kelly, and the ending.

Save for the whole "closet" bit (thanks in part to the parody of R. Kelly's series of "Trapped in the Closet" videos), this episode was a real clunker IMO.

Too many 'in the closet' jokes, and it just seemed really average. The ending just felt tacked on and danging as if they just stopped caring around that part. But there was still fun to be had. Maybe subsequent viewings will help change my opinion on this episode.

Yawn. The closet jokes were redundant and not that funny in the first place, and the rest of the story was really predictable. I'm starting to think South Park needs to just end...

IMO part of the problem is that Matt and Trey insist on putting their opinions on politics or whatever else into the show. I don't mind, but it seems like they're more concerned with making a point than making the show entertaining. I don't need to be pummeled over the head with the "Scientology is stupid" thing...I just didn't really care.

This was great as a satire, but definitely not as an episode. Not much more to say.

It was ok, it had a few laughs, i still remain with my point that this show should have ended a long time ago, all they do now is take shots at whatever is happening right now on the news...

I thought it was hilarious, namely the closet jokes. More people just kept getting sucked into it...and their attempts at getting them out (and corresponding shout-outs from within) were hilarious.

Closet jokes? Get your minds out of the gutters guys...they were in a closet. ;)

The Scientology bit was funny as well, especially the crawl. It almost seems too far-fetched to believe....is that really what scientology suggests happened?

I remember SP taking a gentle shot at the Clams on that MTV Movie Awards "Gladiator" short many years ago (Cartman using a personality test as toilet paper). Guess we won't be seeing Chef on the show again...

I was wondering about Isaac Hayes too...

Well, this is the first really worthwhile SP episode I've seen in a while. I'm pretty baffled at the reactions here, but I'm not gonna go all crazy. But basically this was the only recent SP episode that actually felt like a true SP episode. The closet stuff was mostly disposable, but the rest of it was pretty sharp.

It was pretty heavy-handed with the message, I guess I have to admit that. But I think Stan retained his identity as a character throughout, which is what made it work.

The credits were great.

Eh, it was NOWHERE NEAR as heavy handed as the John Edwards episode. Good god, they would just not let it go...

And it is all happening again

As near as I can tell, yes, Scientologists believe that negative emotions are the result of thetans, being cast into the volcaones of earth millions of years ago by the evil overlord Xenu that now roam the earth entering human bodies and causing no end of horrible things.

I am not making this up.

L. Ron Hubbard did, but I am not.

Well, to be fair, knowledge of Xenu is restricted to the higher levels of the church and lower level members are not privy to it.

Wait... I don't think that really helped their case.

Jesus Christ, people, stop acting like a bunch of stuck-up, high-brow pretentious Hollywood critic a-holes, and just LAUGH and something once in a while.

You haven't been here very long, have you?

This was pretty funny, simply because Scientology is just THAT out there, the source material writes itself. The closet jokes, however, were only funny when R. Kelly got involved (after being the subject of a Boondocks episode, I'm glad they didn't tread the same issues)

Also, did anyone check out the credits?

I was wondering what was up with that...John Smith and Jane Smith for all of 'em.

I personally loved the episode, and agree with the above: the closet joke only got funny when the R. Kelly video parody started. I was hoping Matt and Trey would pick on that insane piece of music video pop culture, and they did. The best part there was how he kept pulling his gun out for no apparent reason

The other great joke of the episode was the "This is what Scientologists actually believe" bar during the whole explanation. I have no doubts that no one would have taken it as more than a joke if they hadn't included the bar.

Yes, that is, in a nutshell, the Scientological gospel...scary as that is. I liked the little "sue us!" challenge issued at the end, because now the church really can't sue them without looking really bad :D
