Just saw the trailer and I LOVED IT! Everyone was in top form here and I think the best part was definitely Knuckles. Can't wait to see how this movie turns out!

It's a movie based on a video game franchise when they also premiered the trailer for the new video game in this franchise. Yesterday was the most appropriate time to debut.

I'm actually glad that Paramount didn't release the trailer on Thanksgiving. I don't think that the trailer would have gotten this much attention if they were airing it during the Macy Day Parade or during a day where most people would be out of town.

I noticed something about Knuckles' powers that might be connected to the first post-credits scene in the first film, where Robotnik is revealed to still have Sonic's quill.

Spoiler: Possible spoiler warning

Maybe he experimented on Knuckles and somehow the quill's powers ended up transferring to him, which may be why Knuckles has a grudge against Sonic in the first place since he just wanted to be normal.

Have to imagine Universal executives hastily ordering a redo of the soon to be released Super Mario Bros trailer to make it look more badass.

Yeah I don't really imagine that as oddly enough these movies are kind of appeasing to two different audiences. Yeah both are kids movie based on beloved platformer video game heroes but Sonic's trying to edge out a slightly more mature real world setting while Mario will likely be much more fantastical and silly especially with being an Illumination movie which do so well because they are so light and fluffy. Nothing wrong with that when done well obviously but both would be approached differently in how they present themselves. Also, where did you hear the Mario trailer is releasing soon? Last I checked they weren't anywhere close to releasing it and the movie comes out all the way next year and let's face it; nowadays trailers drop actually a lot closer to when the movie comes out then sometimes the several month/up to a year we're more used to especially with movie release dates a bit more in flux so I wouldn't expect to see a Mario trailer until late fall/early summer at earliest.

Yeah but if you're going to do a slim Eggman, THIS is how you do it as he still seems fun and filled with energy and enjoying chomping down on the scenery. Which yeah in Sonic 06 they tried playing Eggman generally more serious and less fun which just did not work.

Knuckles showing up means that at some point he is going to be dumb enough to trust Eggman right before he betrays everyone.

Well it's not that Knuckles is supposed to be dumb, he's supposed to be more naive and trust worthy since well he's been guarding the master emerald for all of his life and never really interacted with anyone thus doesn't really know how to.

Though one thing I am hoping this movie tackles even if this doesn't do the Sonic Adventure plot is that it at least ties into the first movie since the last echidnas this version of Sonic saw were the ones that murdered Longclaw so yeah he should have a fear of Knuckles due to having a fear of Echidnas he needs to get over to fully put his past behind him. Like his arc in the first movie was really good but always felt like he wasn't directly getting over the previous grief he had as a kid but this is a perfect chance to do that so hope that is addressed in the movie.

I assume the reason Sonic says "you'll never get my power" is partially because of Eggman and partially because he sees Knuckles and assumes he's part of the Echidna's who took Longclaw from him, not knowing that Knuckles probably has no idea who Sonic is beyond what Eggman may have told him.

I doubt that the film is going in the whole "Robotnik created Knuckles" thing (even if the movies do take liberties with the games). There's still Metal Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog they could do in terms of Robotnik creating a being who's as powerful as Sonic. Also, there's the fact that Longclaw and Sonic were attacked by Echidnas when Sonic was younger. So, I think it would be more interesting for Knuckles to just be that antagonist who is attached to Sonic's backstory and have their rivalry be created from that.

I would like to see another Sonic TV trailer too! Although, I do wonder how many months apart do they usually show a second trailer for an upcoming movie? Is it like 2 months apart or 3 months apart?
