Hmm. Which does leave them room for sequels. I think Lucas placed him at early 30's in Ep 4.

4/23: Kennedy confirms they're 4-5 weeks into Han Solo.

4/28: 2 characters named Val, played by someone in main cast, and Mother Proxima, a puppet on set.

5/5: More supporting cast reported - Ian Kenny playing a character named Rebolt, Harley Durst is playing Moloch, and Tien Hoang is playing Moloch’s Henchman.

5/9: Desert planet setting at Canary Islands shoot. Some speculation it's Tatooine.

5/19: Looks filming with some old school speeders.

6/3: Scout Troopers seen.

Thandie Newton comments on the movie, "very different".

6/14: Title might be "Star Wars - Solo" based on crew shirts.

I like the design. I can deal with the title. I never liked "A Star Wars Story". I don't know why they just use "Sta Wars Anthology".

Bizarre and disappointing news to hear.

Yeah, this is a shocker. I feel like these execs and Studio heads need to be more forthcoming about what they want. Hopefully it wasn't something serious.

Ron Howard? Really? I can't see that. This is a movie that's at least partially complete, and the new director is going to be coming in to do mop up duty. I can't imagine a name like Howard would come in to do a Star Wars movie if it wasn't his from the start. Why not let Kasdan do it? He certainly deserved it, especially since this is supposed to be his final Star Wars movie. Joe Johnston would also make sense. He started off as a special effects worker on Star Wars, so why not let him have a crack at directing?

I'm not attached to Star Wars alum working on this. . . I couldn't help thinking Frank Oz could lend some humor to this.

Has this ever happened before? A director leaving with only a few weeks of filming left? Weird.

It's interesting, Justice League has also lost its director a few months before release. Obviously, Zack Snyder's reasons for stepping down are tragically different than what's happening here, it's interesting that there are two major movies coming that have lost their directors late in the game. And yes, while rare, there are a few examples of stuff like this happening in Hollywood history.

Variety is saying they clashed from day one with Kennedy and Kasdan as well. Directors weren't getting creative license. A very polarized set. They were fired.

Uhhhhh. . . oh boy.

So EW has released more details. Sources are all over the place, with some saying that Lord and Miller had changed the tone of the film to comedy, and others saying claiming that the directors were shifting the plot "off course."

It's hard to know what to believe at this point.

Star Erenreich expressed concerns earlier in production:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mo...renreich-han-solo-movie-director-shakeup/amp/

"Ehrenreich had concerns with the production as filming progressed. He started to worry that Lord & Miller's screwball comedy angle was starting to interfere with what the character of Han Solo is really about –- even if this was a younger, more reckless take on the character than the one we met in that cantina on Tatooine. One source described it as being oddly comparable to Jim Carrey's performance in 'Ace Ventura' at times. Ehrenreich let his concerns be known to one of the producers, who then told Kennedy about it, which led to her decision to look over the existing footage."
