Do you think that if Sailor Moon was re-aired, it would do well? It could attract a female audience but still keep some of the male audience with it's "fighting evil" theme. What do you guys think?

Nah....I think the popularity for that has faded a long time ago.

Well, Hot Topic still has shirts coming out of this anime. I think it's still popular to people who enjoy animes or "fanimes" if you will.

Since Sailor Moon hasn't aired on Cartoon Network for a number of years and I don't think that they're going to get the rights to air it again anytime soon, I'm going to go ahead and move this thread to the Anime Boards.

As for the question itself, I think it's possible that Sailor Moon could do pretty well if it was on television again. I believe that the sales for the first volume of the Sailor Moon manga did quite well and even though those sales could have been from young adult fans who saw the show years ago, I think that it might click with some girls today. It might depend as to if they'd be able to air a redubbed version of the series, assuming something like that happens as well, or if they could only re-air the other dubs, but I don't think that any channel could air it without some distributor acquiring the rights to the series first.

Well old school girl power. It could do well for nostalgic purposes. If Dragon Ball Kai can be a hit, than so could Sailor Moon.

Another good comparisson to see if it does well, is the HUB reruns of Jem, which did very well in its first run. They are down to one time slot, but still have a new custom bumper, so the HUB priorities highly. If Jem can do well, no quesion Sailor Moon which is way more known amongst the mainstream.

That's a good point. I forgot about how successful DBZ Kai has been on Nicktoons, so that does make Sailor Moon's chances of being successful, if that ever can happen, a bit better.

I could see it, actually. I have 9 year old sisters that love everything Disney yet watches a handful of Nick when it comes to shows like Dan's work, BTR, Power Rangers Samurai, and when I showed them an episode of Sailor Moon they couldn't get enough of it. The pretty costumes, the action, the romance, the cute animals, the cool music. I think that'll be something Nick could succeed in, especially given the success of DBZKai.

I think Sailor Moon is like a classic Disney movie it may be aged but it has a certain timeless quality that makes it easy to rewatch. I pretty much put it in the same category as DBZ, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, YYH in that it's a franchise that lasts the generations. If the English manga sales are anything to go by it's definitely still has some pull.

I'm glad someone put up a thread for Sailor Moon because I need to ask something.

If/when Funimation does acquire the rights to Sailor Moon, who do you think would be the perfect VAs to play the characters?

Here are my picks:

Serena/Sailor Moon: Monica Rial (in her DBZ's Bulma voice)
Amy/Sailor Mercury: Carrie Savage
Raye/Sailor Mars: Luci Christian (definately!)
Lita/Sailor Jupiter: Caitlin Glass
Mina/Sailor Venus: Laura Bailey (in her Negima's Ayaka voice)

Darien/Tuxedo Mask: Eric Vale

Luna: Colleen Clinkenbeard
Artemis: Todd Haberkorn
Diana: Brina Palencia

Sailor Mini Moon: Cherami Leigh

Queen Beryl: Colleen Clinkenbeard

Dr. Tomoe: Brandon Potter

That's all I can think of for now. I still have no idea who'd play Sailors Neptune, Uranus, & Pluto yet. Same goes for Catsie, Birdie, Avery, Prisma, and Prince Diamond.

Anyway, I hope my choices were ok. I'd like to know what everyone thinks of them.

I don't think in a redub they would use those dub names. The manga reprint uses the Japanese names.

The Voyo-exclusive Romanian dub of Garfield and Friends goes on with the second season now being relased. I was afraid they will forget about the show after only one season.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.

Conflicted about the upcoming film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, given the creator now distancing herself from it despite co-writing the screenplay and blocking one of the actresses on social media despite defending her casting in the film.
