Revolution controller revealed

...

Madden On The Revolution-

Move left- Tilt left
Move right- Tilt right
Move forward- Move forward
Move back- Move back
Spin- Spin
Jump- Quick movement up
Throw Ball- Hold A, perform throwing motion like you would a real football (without the release, or else there goes your TV)

Seems pretty simplistic.

Proving once again that Nintendo's controller is awesome to everyone even before anyone holds it, and yet the PS3 one is somehow inferior and *bad* even though no one has held it or tried it.

Is anyone else seeing the hypocrisy here, or is that just me?
I would say that both the Revolution and PS3 controllers look fairly ridiculous, and I'm reserving judgment on the PS3 one.

Though, some people have held the Revolution controller, and they say it's comfortable.

The revolution controller still looks too advanced and complicated for the technologically challenged.
As someone who is not technically challenged, you are not qualified to assert that.

I showed the thing and explained it to at least three people who would never touch a game controller, and they're excited to try it out.

And what does it mean for veteran gamers? Are videogames the next thing to be dumbed down? Are we going to have to play by simplistic rules? No more combo attacks, no more roman cancels? No more special moves that require the pusshing of 14 buttons in a specific order?
The controller is versatile, and will adapt to more complex controls for more complex games. Besides, the gameplay that the Revolution "wand" offers is not simplistic, it just appears simplistic on the surface, which makes it less intimidating to non-gamers.

and I don't think that parents who have never touched a game before are going to start playing videogames in a big craze...I mean there are things that are just a moonshot and that's pretty much one of them...
You have no idea whether they are or not, and neither do I. The possibility is there; anything beyond that is an assumption, and not valid argumentation.

If you're not aware that the Revolution controller is wireless, you obviously aren't paying nearly enough attention to be arguing any of this.

I was refering to the Anaog stick that is attached to the remote via a chord

Which was not mentioned or referenced in Knux's control scheme.

I was wondering what he ment by "spin" I was thinking thathe ment to spin the remote itself, or the anaolg part.

I expect a fully functional and mobile Halo lightgun now

with recoil and everything...

Spinning should be a form of control on the remote itself, so his control scheme would work with just the remote alone.

The Analog Accessory would not be necessary for Madden Revolution. And it'd probably be more intuitive without it.

Wouldn't you risk dislocating your hand doing that?

It's been confirmed that there will be a controller shell (& they are considering it being included with the system). Earlier in the topic someone posted IGN's mock-up of it, here it is again:

I like how Nintendo is taking advanage of their new WI-FI capitabilities with this new controller for the Revolution. The controller takes into account two different ways of playing the next generation videos games. There are also ports on the Revolution to plug in your standard Gamecube controller and Wavebird controllers, if the system doesn't come this proposed controller shell. So far the future, looks promising for Nintendo.
