Orphan Shows The Hub Should Adopt

If anyone hasn't suggested it yet...One Piece. It's not like the Hub would be long for episodes.

Well, for me, I would choose these series:

  • Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars. I saw the entire series, on the internet, and it was definitely worth that time. Shame it only lasted 13 episodes, though. I would really like to see it on TV.
  • The Little Rascals: I know Turner Classic Movies (sister station to CN) owns the cable rights, but it could happen.
  • Full House. i know this one is already airing on both ABC Family and Nick @ Nite, but hey, if they're recycling other old ABC sitcoms, then this could be a welcome addition.
I have a few more, but I'll list them later.

Funimation owns the rights, and I think they're content with One Piece being exclusive to their channel.

While that would possibly be a way to get easy ratings...we don't know how much Funimation will dub, they just now got "season 4" personally I would rather HUB stick to Origional animations based on Hasbro properties, reruns of older toons, and only the occasional medium length all ages anime.

But yeah on the anime front, how about Samurai Pizza cats...yeah it'll never happen, but hey. A guy can dream, lol.

Anything is possible, but I'd say that's very, very very unlikely since Turner owns the shorts. Anyway, I personally don't think that Our Gang/The Little Rascals has aged very well; those shorts would seem extremely dated by today's standards, and I don't think that today's kids have the patience to watch something in black & white.

Again, not impossible to fathom, but somehow I don't see The Hub going out of their way to acquire a cartoon show based on an obscure and now long dead franchise which only made 13 episodes in total. Even for filler during non-peak hours, there are more likely contenders, I think.

Actually, the shorts are owned by a company called RHI, not Turner. They just own the broadcast rights. Same goes for the Pink Panther (which was mentioned earlier on this thread), owned by MGM. That said, kids are getting more interested in the past, so it might work.

Sorry, but what evidence do you have that kids are "getting more interested the past"? Because I haven't seen any signs of such. If anything, people's interests seem to be moving away from nostalgia at this time (case in point, the current states of Nick at Nite and TV Land). If Hasbro were to acquire The Little Rascals, I think that it would be a mistake trying to aim it at kids. Kids don't care about nostalgia because they're too young to appreciate it.

I'm not trying to be negative, but I really don't see The Little Rascals being a good fit for The Hub. The humor is extremely dated and the ethnic stereotypes (particularly the depictions of African-Americans) are grievously Politically Incorrect by today's standards. I just think that TLR is best left on an oldies channel like Turner Classic Movies, where it's audience would appreciate how dated it is. I just think that TLR would bomb hard on The Hub.

A new version The Little Rascals updated for the 21st century might, repeat, might work, although it's been tried before by various companies.

I happen to agree that they're better off with original IP's to build their brand. But it would be the only anime they need, given the length.

i think HUB should aquire the 80s care bears series, you know the hub has a lot of amercian greetings properties around them, other shows i think HUB should aquire would be muppet babies, daria, and the muppet show

DARIA!? THAT's MTV!

Sorry.

Anyway, Disney would probably be more interested in airing the Muppets , them owning them and the success of the movie. Care Bears could work, though.

Personally I don't care if it is on the Hub or not, it could be Nicktoons, Disney XD, Cartoon Network, but someone has to air Digimon Xros Wars. I may have suggested it before, but my resolve for this series to be dubbed and aired on television has not wavered and only gotten stronger.

You're never going to see Daria on The Hub. Daria is property of MTV/Viacom, whom are notoriously stingy when it comes to loaning out their properties to competitors. Also, Daria doesn't really fit in with The Hub's "Kid and family" centric image.

I'd vote for "Oggy and the Cockroaches". I'd love to see it on US TV again. it has 2 seasons that haven't been shown yet in the US, and a new season confirmed on Xilam's website. Speaking of Xilam, "Zig & Sharko" would be another good show for The Hub too.

It's highly unlikely, and i dont know where on the schedule it would fit, but how about the fonz and laverne and shirley cartoons? They are airing the actual shows the toons were based on after all. Heck, maybe after they run through all the live action eps of said shows they could air the animated eps in the same slot (similar to how RTV aired the live-action filmation ghostbusters in the same slot as the animated ghostbusters).

Since Black Friday has come and long since past, I have to sit back and say The Hub really isn't keeping up.

Last year, in retrospect, airing some Grade A, super awesome, new series that had some real iconic and "toyoic" feel to them just felt right. It screamed awesome marketing.

Now that we're past the date last year where all the pieces of The Hub fell into place and we aren't seeing that same energy today make me more then a little depressed.

I know we're waiting on new episodes of Prime, I know G.I. Joe is currently backlogged, but The Hub really needs more series to ride on.

If The Hub is willing to run Men in Black (which is a great series mind you) for over a year straight, they really should consider looking into a few other series and branching out a little more.

The Hub, to me, just now, feels like its flailing and possibly even circling the drain from an animation stand point. They really hit Easter Famine in a big way. They *REALLY* need a partner to help flesh out their network. It just boggles my mind why they haven't explored other relationships while they work to expand their animation studios.

Immediately, Rainmaker Entertainment and Cookie Jar spring to mind. Building a relationship with just one of those entities would flesh out the channel into awesomeness, getting both under their wing would make The Hub a serious, serious, serious competitor. Just think of the library they'd have access to!

Just the synergy alone from working with both companies is amazing, especially considering properties Hasbro owns has been made into series by both companies.

Even if The Hub started really exploring their own properties, it would only be a matter of time they were toying with different stories in their own universe. Series like GI Joe, Inhumanoids and MASK (all of which they obviously have rights to) have somewhat been made to be in the same universe over the years. It would only take some deeper references to solidify that.

I think what The Hub needs right now is an infusion of "new animation universes" to tinker with.

Well for Marvel Shows i can say, since Marvel Superhero Squad Show airs now, I can see these show to majorly make it in. (i took some research on its possibilties, so i can mostly see The Spectacular Spider-Man, and X-Men: Evolution to be aquired because Spectacular Spider-Man had toys based off of it, and X-Men Evolution was worked with Film Roman (same people who worked on Super hero Squad Show, and the New Aven). There are others, but i think i aint sure on any other Marvel Shows.

I don't expect The Hub to become the home for Marvel cartoons any more than it became the home for DC cartoons after it acquired Batman Beyond. Disney XD and Cartoon Network respectively will remain the main headquarters for those companies' shows. The main reason The Super Hero Squad Show made it to the The Hub is because Hasbro produces the SHS toys. Also, with Marvel producing an entire programming block on XD for Marvel shows, it seems likely that the bulk of Marvel's animated roster will remain exclusive to Disney. (X-Men: Evolution already airs on XD currently if I'm not mistaken, and Spectacular Spider-Man may likely remain buried since it occurred during a time when ownership over the character and franchise were in the process of changing hands and also due to there being a new Spidey series in the works, which is also slated for XD.)

Disney clearly does not see the Hub as a serous threat and while yeah they won't be giving them any shows currently airing on Disney XD or Spectacular Spider-man as right now they want Ultimate to be the only Spider-man cartoon on TV. However you know what won't surprise me? If the Hub becomes the home for Wolverine and the X-men and Ironman armored Adventures once the contract with Nick expires. Even the recent Fantastic Four is a possibility. Sure I expected those shows to move to Disney XD when their contract with Nick ended but after Super Hero Squad's move to the Hub you never know.

Well.. I am confuse about it (Sorry if i bring it up). Well lets be back to our topic. Well any other shows they could acquire?

It's not that confusing, really: Disney isn't going to loan out any Marvel shows which are currently airing on XD, so no X-Men: Evolution, and Spectacular Spider-Man is out because of the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man show also on XD; the Mouse House wants to keep Spidey exclusive and they want Ultimate Spider-Man to be the, well, ultimate, so they won't be allowing 2 Spider-Man shows to run simultaneously on 2 separate networks.

However, as Dragnatek pointed out, other defunct Marvel shows like Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes or Wolverine & the X-Men, which aren't currently airing anywhere, are possibilities, regardless how slim, given that Disney hardly views The Hub as a competitor, let alone a threat to their livelihood.

Oggy and the Cockroaches could work on The Hub, since it's not airing on the defunct Fox Kids.

And you're right, it hasn't show its two seasons in the US. And with the fourth season announced, which channel should Oggy air there?
Speaking of Xilam, "Zig & Sharko" would be another good show for The Hub too.

Zig & Sharko could work on The Hub, but I can see it air on Disney XD.
