"Monarch Cold War" Series News & Discussion (Spoilers)

Reportedly Apple TV has greenlit a prequel series to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters starring Wyatt Russell as Lee Shaw and it will be set during the Cold War "and grapple with tensions between the United States and Russia in a world of monsters."

Joby Harold will serve as the series’ showrunner and will executive produce with his wife and producing partner Tory Tunnell through their production company Safehouse Pictures. Wyatt Russel will also serve as an executive producer.

It is set to begin production next Summer in Prague.

12/17/25: AppleTV has officially greenlit the series. Synopsis is, "The new spinoff series will follow the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who in 1984 went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War."

2/20/26: Films in the spring and will be 10 episodes.

3/2: Wyatt Russell says it films in the summer and his character, Lee Shaw, "will be tasked with stopping the Soviet Union from releasing a Titan that could erase the U.S. off the map and decide the Cold War in the Soviets’ favor."

3/6: Films in the UK and Prague in July.

4/8: Starts in Prague in June.

5/6: Interview with producer Tory Tunnell. She confirms this is 10 episodes and notes you don't have to have seen any movies or the main Monarch show to watch this spin off.

6/23: Millie Brady and Pilou Asbaek join the cast as series regulars and JD Dillard will direct the pilot.
