MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

Called it.

Pretty much every H-B anthropomorph except for Quick Draw McGraw is in the mix.

I think I know what's going on, though. These are just individual shorts, like on the bugs bunny, tom and jerry, casper, and all stars blocks. I was personally hoping to see the original shows, with the opening sequences and everything.

(sigh...)

Saw this on the MeTV Toons Facebook group. Apparently the original Yoga Bear Show is coming on 2/17 and is currently scheduled for 6 PM ET rather than it's normal time of 12 PM ET. Of course this could change since the schedule is not final yet.

EDIT: Also, Yo Yogi is list for 7 and 7:30 AM ET on Saturday 2/22.

It looks like this information is now lost, but when I saw this shared on the Facebook group a night or two ago, it looks like the 80's Yogi shorts will be airing- it seems that the original cartoons will be a part of the new block.

I agree that I'd like to see the original segments and credits as they originally aired like we do with Atom Ant and Secret Squirrel, but beggars can't be choosers. I've been looking forward to Huck, Pixie and Dixie and Wally, among others (including, hopefully, Quick Draw) to make it on here, and I'm glad to see them in any capacity.

Part of this feels like shame that it reduces the chance of them inserting in more random Hanna-Barbera stuff that really isn't big but still kind of fun. Frankenstein Jr. was lucky to make it in there. Would have been nice to have more random H&B stuff that hasn't been aired in awhile lower chance of like Space Kidettes airing. Kind of shame the Flintstones family Sunday thing is seemingly going away.

I'm wonder about how many Hanna Barbera shows that Weigel has access to add it in the future.

MeTV Toons has added more information about House of Hanna-Barbera to their website including the 20 cartoon series that will be featured on the block.

The article, however, implies that there will be more H-B series shown in the new block than just those 20 listed.

Do retired people watch TV at that time frame? Otherwise I feel no one will actually watch these.

New MeTV Toons schedule starting February 17 is out. Looks like a few more new shows:

The Yogi Bear Show
The Magilla Gorilla Show
Baby Looney Tunes
Pac-Man
The Wacky World of Tex Avery

Getting less Airtime:
The Flintstones
Inspector Gadget

The Wacky World of Tex Avery - now THAT is a surprise, lol. Overall I like this schedule, though some choices are puzzling. A full hour of Yo Yogi when there's only 13 eps and it's - well, Yo Yogi, is just bizarre. Also I'm not happy that Heathcliff has been dropped before they even finished airing all the episodes of Heathcliff and Marmaduke. Overall though, pretty solid. I like that they are doing both airings of the Hanna-Barbera shows in their original forms and running the House of Hanna-Barbera block.

Internet hyped for ‘87 TMNT coming to MeTV Toons so what happens?

Uh....MeTV Toons DOES know that "The Wacky World of Tex Avery" (a show from the...late 1990s, I think*) isn't really related at all to the real Tex Avery, right? It's simply Tex Avery-inspired. Heck, the show's star is a cowboy who just happens to have the same name. HE's the one the show is named after (plus, his segment is usually, but always, the one to be shown first). On a related note, the French studio that made the animation for this show, which was produced by DIC, took its name from the show: Les Studios Tex.

On the other hand, The Yogi Bear Show at 6PM, and then The Magilla Gorilla Show (and later The Peter Potamus Show) at 6:30? Okay, that's more like it.

But I'm not liking Silverhawks or Challenge of the GoBots airing at 3AM. TBCH, I am wondering if Weigel has some kind of preference...

Oh yeah, I think Heathcliff and Marmaduke will finish airing its episodes by the time the House of Hanna-Barbera block premieres.

*It aired about 18 years or so after we lost the real Tex Avery.

I like that "Wait 'Til your Father Gets Home" is getting some expansion, the show would have been done with a cycle after 48 weeks or a little over -accounting for marathons and etc.- 7 days a week is interesting.

I don't like that the Flintstones and Scooby Doo Sunday stuff is being cut to 1 hour each, it reduces the chance they'll be airing any Scooby Doo movie specials.

Oh the Bible animated show thing is gone. The mad men added Pac-Man. Sunday late night is still the weakest part of the line up. It's dead hours.

Feel bad for the Smurfs , at least they weren't wiped out , but thought it would get more slots again.

The changes feel a little odd to me, some parts I think aren't very personally interesting.

They are watching the Price is Right (east coast /central time zones) that's morning news hours for the other 2 mainland time zones.

Having Wacky World of Tex Avery screams filler. They probably got it cheap.

Silverhawks is their first Rankin-Bass show. I do wonder (hope) that we'll see it newly restored. Pac-Man was already done in HD IIRC.

With Huckleberry and Yogi at least, the original openings and closings have references to Kellogg's that are near-impossible to remove, so they probably can't be aired.

Baby boomers generally find animated shows to be kid and won’t bother to watch them, but there is exception for some baby boomers who are cartoon lovers will watch MeTV Toons.

Don’t forget about soap opera shows too.

Not necessarily. There are versions of the openings that don't have the sponsor spots.

I didn’t expect The Wacky World of Tex Avery to ever see the light of day again. That show is embarrassing.

I get the feeling Wildbrain was like, oh you want Rocky and Bullwinkle and Inspector Gadget? Well, you also have to buy these shows.

Instead of getting THAT Tex Avery show, Weigel could have gotten the DiC version of Heathcliff to play after the Ruby Spears version. Maybe cut down Police Academy to once a day and give Taz-Mania a run or two. Heck, get The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries to air with it.

Those doing the pyramid burger on YouTube are doing it wrong. Let it cook until it's well done because I've seen people doing it and trying it before spitting it after realising that it's raw.
I have another theory as for why Johnny Bravo is neglected by CN nowadays. Putting aside the basic concept, it's the retools that made the show chaotic.
I might be the only one who cares but why is Scooby Doo basically unavailable everywhere? Netflix has only Mystery Inc and the two James Gunn movies. Tubi has What's New and Where Are You. Meanwhile HBO Max has basically nothing. I've been itching to watch the classic Scooby Doo direct to video movies lately and they're nowhere to be found outside of purchasing them on sites like YouTube.
