MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

Just saying, but this sounds like rumor/speculation to me, especially since it comes from an unaffiliated, third party source. Remember when there was a Twitter (not calling it “X”) post that claimed MeTV Toons was partnering with Retro Crush for classic anime? I think we should hear it from Weigel Broadcasting themselves, especially since Mystery Incorporated is kind of…you know, recent for this network…

As of today, it is now listed on the schedule for December 1st at 4:30 PM ET on the metvtoons.com schedule as well.

I think this is great news. I'm excited about it!

I really object to the whole "Anime just wasnt a thing before the 90s or Toonami" I know people didnt say that but that's what they THINK there was so much anime in the old days because otherwise they wouldnt say that, they could air GATCHAMAN or Battle of The Planets, VOLTRON, Robotech (Now that Macross is actually available uncut it wouldnt harm anything) or even Macross' new dub from the 00's.

Well, anyway, on MeTV Toon’s website, the description of the (non-Challenge) Super Friends episode “Pied Piper from Space” is wrong. This episode doesn’t have the Legion of Doom forcing the Super Friends to fight android duplicates, which is clearly from a “Challenge” episode (the Legion doesn't appear in the non-Challenge episodes).

Also, aegisrawks, by “GATCHAMAN”, are you talking about ADV’s dub since you also mentioned BOTP (one of the earliest “macekres” of an anime), along with ADV’s dub of Macross (i.e., with Mari Ijima reprising her role as Lynn Minmay in English)?

Yeah. The ADV dub. I know it is basically an entirely different show, but I think Boomer and Gen Xers will love finally getting the full picture of uncut Gatchaman.

So with "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated", "Duck Dodgers" and the Sander Schwartz Looney Tunes will no longer be the newest things the network has aired. But I do hope at least they rate it TV-PG (as like "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home", Cartoon Network and Boomerang rated it TV-Y7-FV despite containing some very dark and scary and violent content that would normally warrant a PG rating, and MeTV Toons does indeed rate "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" TV-PG).

ANOTHER anime Me TV could air is The Mysterious Cities of Gold. With a REALLY rare dub that is both good and with a superior soundtrack for the English version.
Didn’t that use to air on Nickelodeon in the 80’s, or am I thinking of something else?

Wait, there's another dub? I'm only aware of the one that aired on Nick and was released on DVD.

No, not another dub. I meant the exact one that aired on Nick, I meant it is a rare 80's dub with good acting and a dub score that is superior to the Japanese one.

Nickelodeon did air The Mysterious Cities of Gold from 1986 to 1990.

Nick Jr (Nick Junior) in 80s aired a lot of anime shows.

That reminds me, Grimms Fairytale Classics! Bluebeard needs to air on Me TV Toons!

I'm hoping for Police Academy the complete animated series on DVD and/or Blu-ray.

I have to wonder something. Is The Banana Splits off the table for MeTV Toons? I mean, it aired on Cartoon Network and Boomerang in the past, so I imagine not.

Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing Ruff and Reddy on the channel one day.

I wouldn't mind seeing The Banana Splits again myself, but given that the show itself is live action and served as a wraparound for cartoon segments, it seems unlikely. The channel could easily just air the cartoons and omit the Splits segments, but then MeTV isn't adverse to puppet hosts and the like, so I suppose it's possible.

In any case, unlike the “Supermarionation” shows, The Banana Splits is fine. The show is segment based, so it’s just as much an “animated” show as it is a live-action one. For this reason, if MeTV Toons was to air The Banana Splits (either as the original “Adventure Hour”, or the syndicated version that was shown on TOON or BOOM), I would hope they would show the whole thing, yes, including the live-action segments (which, yes, also include the “Danger Island” segments). Assuming they did, it would really be “a good day for a parade” (get it?)…

I'm trying my best not to sound like a sour puss, but am I the only one disappointed by how they'll be celebrating Thanksgiving? I was kind of hoping they would've aired some specials like The Thanksgiving That Almost Wasn't or something like that. Heck, I kind of wished this LT marathon included some of the other incarnations, like the likes of Duck Dodgers or Taz Mania, but I guess not. I don't know, but the fact how they'll be celebrating Thanksgiving by airing an all day marathon of only and strictly the classic shorts which already airs regularly is kind of a bit of an overkill, don't you think? I mean don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're at least doing something but I kind of wished they aired one of the spin offs alongside the classic shorts.

I think a good question is how many people would actually be watching on Thanksgiving? They are probably airing classic Looney Tunes shorts because those are cheap and they know not many people will be watching anyway.
