I don't know what happened to bobbybop, but I guess I have to fill in. If anyone else wants to do the talkback threads let me know.

In this episode

Penny Ling is excited to meet the host of her favorite show, but the host does not feel the same way.

Discuess.

Merriwhether Williams wrote this..... Unless she pulls the same stuff out of her that gave us "Sunil's Sick Day" (A GOD - TIER episode, IMHO... I know this won't end all that well, especially since she is the type to write things more mean - spirited than normal and it just ends poorly, or doesn't fit the show it's on like it should at all.

Follow up (After Seeing the episode)...: Not as good as Sunil's Sick Day (easily William's best work on this show, PERIOD!), but not as terrible as I feared. I owe it thanks to how it ended. And despite being the typical misunderstanding plot, this was one of the better (I think calling it 'one of the best' is stretching it a little, it's still pretty early season to get away with such statements.) uses of it, unlike in most of Season 1, IMHO...

So yeah, while I kinda feel this is Mid - High Tier material here, overall, seeing as I'm sure someone or another has been put in a bad situation like that (but not as exaggerated as here, I hope)... I'll consider this a High Tier episode, if only because this didn't end on a sour note, like I feared it would. That, and it helps that this WASN'T another unneeded slam on current generation media, like most episodes that tend to have these kinds of guests...

Okay this is an okay episode. I wouldn't say season 3 hot streak is over, this is not a bad episode, iti just not great like the others have been.

A possitive was Blythe and the pets doing stuff together, that should be the foucs, the pets and Blythe's abilites, all of that was used upon in this episode.

I thought Penny Ling was adorable in this episode. I want to hug her. Everything she did or said was just adorable, how can not love her.

Blythe's abilties was showcased again, forget about fashion and focues on that, Blythe has a great gift. I also this week's Blythe's style was great, I liked her look this week. I don't know why she has to hide abilities, talking to animals is an awesome abilites and you should be proud of it and not be embarassed by it.

I liked Sunshine Sweetness, who does her vocie? She sounds familar.

The negative was the treatment of Vinnie and Sunil being punching bags. This writer can be mean spirted and you saw that here, especially the end joke was out of place and uncalled for.

We are one quarter into the season already, time flies and so far no Jasper. Perhaps this will be a Jasper free season.

Wow... I didn't even notice this at first - I was too busy worrying this was going to be another slam on TV in general (which this show does not always benefit from, if at all...). And I can't say I completely care, either, to be honest. But yeah, that is unfortunate to know. What you pointed out with that 'negative' is why I usually dread ANYTHING by this writer and hold her to such low expectations and standards, compared to everyone else, whether on this show or MLP.

Merriwether Williams is definitely getting better, considering she wrote another good episode. There were many funny moments, from the fangirling to Tess' over the top behavior. I like how Penny Ling wanted to show Tess that she's special, though some of her crying was a bit much. I thought the other pets were a little under utilized. Also, when they arrived at just the right moment, it felt a bit like a deus ex machina. Sweet Sunshine was an interesting guest animal. Tess is a pretty good character, with a nice devotion to animals. I like Blythe helping out again. What I got out of this is how a little kindness can go a long way. So, I give this episode 94/100. It's no "Sunil's Sick Day", but it's still pretty good.

Not much to say, cute outing this week. I expect the Penny Ling episodes to be big on cute and sweet, and here is no exception.Liked Blythe's look in this ep; lots of purple, and I like purple.

It sounded like Kathleen Barr, the voice of Mrs. Twombly.

I think it has less to do with embarrassment and more to do with other people thinking she's crazy, but I agree, her ability can't be kept under wraps for too much longer. I may be wrong, but it seems like the proverbial cat is going to be let out of the bag in-universe; the writers seem to be hinting towards a reveal at some point.

Dude, seriously, let it go. These anti-Jasper snarks are starting to come off like trolling now. I'll never understand the hate base this one character who barely even appears on this show has amassed. I'd rather celebrate the characters I do like than waste energy hating on the ones I don't, but that's just my opinion, which doesn't carry the weight of sunlight.

Well there is a method to my madness. It is my own take or tribute on a recurring gag on the Weekly Manga Recap podcast, this is my version of Unahana is dead and she is never coming back. Their motives is if and when Unahana does appear again in Bleach, they have a great gag planned. Just like have a great gag planned if and when he returns.

Ah. Well, I've never heard or heard of the Weekly Manga Recap Podcast and I stopped watching Bleach a looooong time ago, so I have no idea who this Unahana is or anything about that (I'm about as otaku as a Big Mac) and all that's completely lost on me, but if there's a plan in place for all of this, more power to ya.

How long ago because she was in the Soul Society

Well where is Magneto when you need him, he can tell Blythe to be proud of her abilities.

I noticed the only people Blythe doesn't try to hid her abilites from are the Biskit twins. She doesn't try to cover up the pets told me line in "Hamster Hoods", you would think they would be the last people you would want to know about this. And Blythe doesn't seem to care or mind that they know.

Amusing, but again, there's a huge difference between "I'm ashamed of what I can do" and "I don't want people to think I'm as loopy as a loon". Since no one else on the show can understand animal-speak, she'd have a hard time proving it. Sure, she could conceivably tell a pet to do something, but Joe Average could just take that to mean that she trained them well.

But to reiterate another point I previously made in post #6, so far this season the writers have been dropping numerous near-reveals into several of the episodes. Other characters are starting to get more and more suspicious; I may be wrong, but I get the feeling that eventually someone else will learn Blythe's secret. If so, it'll be interesting to see how that's handled and how it affects the show's dynamic.

Okay, now that I finally got a chance to watch this episode, here's my review.

I thought this episode was somewhat weakly written. It could've been done differently and more efficiently and instead just felt like a one long joke stretched out over 22 minutes with too many rather useless filler scenes. The general story is famous zoologist lady pays a visit to the pet shop, freaks out when she sees Penny Ling and it turns out she's afraid of both gorillas and pandas. Blythe discovers the reason why and helps Tess McSavage overcome her fears. A rather boring-sounding plot but it could've been helped if the events throughout the episode were laid out differently and if there were less useless scenes. The Wizard of Oz reference was a nice touch, but not too special.

I think this episode could've been done without involving gorillas at all, and although the pets do get plenty of screentime, the scenes with the guest character, a female gorilla named Sunshine Sweetness, kinda take away a little too much time from them. This episode would've been better handled if it was about Tess overcoming her fear of pandas only and if there were a different guest pet in a different kind of subplot.

Speaking of subplots, I also notice how this episode seems to lack one; the characters just simply split up and converge at different points throughout the episode. While I don't consider subplots to be essential for an LPS episode, this one probably could've used one because it felt kind of long and drawn-out for me. I would rather have two short, yet fully-formed plots than one stretched-out plot.

I thought Mrs. Twombly was crazy but wow, this Tess lady was just downright insane... I'm surprised a woman like her could even be famous. She came off to me as pretty creepy.

I did not like the ending scene at all... This episode could've really used a totally different epilogue. Instead we get Penny Ling explaining why she was brave enough to hug Sunshine, which I thought was weird enough; I know Penny Ling is sentimental but to just hug a random gorilla was weird even for her. But what really struck me was her saying something along the lines of "I just did what Sunil and Vinnie do...and then I did the opposite!" ...........Um...what? Sunil and Vinnie were right to be confused about that and why the hell were the other pets laughing? I'm sorry but that was a terrible way to end an episode...

I don't usually do this, but if I had to give this episode a score, I'd give it a 5/10. I don't consider it a bad episode, hell, I don't consider any LPS episode to be bad, but they could've done better with this one.

@MethidMan: I admit I didn't dislike it as much as you did... Either way (thinking about things deep enough for myself...), point taken. Merriwhether Williams is such a weak writer (and there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for that at all, regardless of the show said person is writing for!), unless she has help (which is why "Sunil's Sick Day, her previous work turned out any form of good, IMHO.).

Unless she has some help, I don't expect her next episode to be any better than this, provided she's still doing work for this show.

I think the reason why most of Merriwether Williams' writing falls flat on its face nowadays, with episodes like "Wonderbolts Academy" and "Sunil's Sick Day" as exceptions, is because she's writing for three shows at once. She used to write solely for SpongeBob, writing great episodes like "Band Geeks" and "Chocolate With Nuts". After the theatrical movie, she wrote solely for Camp Lazlo, of which she did a good job. Now, she's writing for Adventure Time, MLP, and LPS. With having to write for three shows, her writing can sometimes be skewed, because she has to switch back and forth, which can get confusing. I think that if Merriwether Williams wants to be a great writer, like MA Larson, who pulled this off well, she needs to write solely for one show, so she doesn't get confused. (I have not watched Adventure Time, so I don't know how well she does)

Next week's episode is the one I am really looking forward to. I am really excited about the premese, but it is resolved will make or break the episode. If it is resolved like I want to be , taking risks and develop characters, it will be one of my favorite epsiodes of the season if not the series. If it is resolved in the wrong one, the safe maintain status quo way, it will be one of my least favorite. They better not tease us with possible character development only for it to be a troll. I gurantee the next episode my feelings of it is not going to be meh it is okay. I am either going to love it or I am going to hate it. No middle ground.

Maybe it could go along the lines of "Plankton's Pet", where Plankton gets to stay with Spot. Anyway, here's how I think the episode could end. Blythe helps the Biskit twins to bond with the chinchillas. They are so engrossed with them that they tell Blythe to go. As she goes, she sees the Biskits having fun with the chinchillas, and breathes a sigh of relief, knowing that her work is done.

Merriwhether Williams may have just set those of us paying attention for a huge fall, come next week and the week after that, knowing all of this... Unless the writers responsible bring their A - game and actually develop those stupid twins, it's going to be such a black eye or two for this season, and yet another of many for this series.

I don't know who is writing next week's episode, but I think it is a different writer and not Merriwhether Williams.

Yeesh... Thank God for that. I could smell the drop in views for this show permanently from here, otherwise.

I know you don't like those twins The ShopSouldier so probably won't like the next episode reguardless, but that is okay we all have our different tastes in favorite characters. I like the twins when written well, which sadly wasn't the case for most of season 2, so far in season 3 so good. When you write them as characters in their own right and not characters whose only pupose is to be a foil for Blythe, can be good characters. The next two episodes will focus on the twins, so you might want to take a vaction from ths show. The episode after next week, could be a follow up or sequel to my favorite Biskit twin episode "DoorJammed".

I hope you are right SweetShop209. if this ends with Blythe just giving up and finding other owners for the chinchillas, while the Biskit twins continue to be bitter and alone like a couple of future Lin Bai Fongs, I will be so disappointed. I might rage like Linkara after reading a Mike Miller comic. Can't we have one happy ending for them, even McLeash got a couple of happy endings.
