Learning with Pibby

I get why you don't like this but Adult Swim was supposed to be weird anyway sometimes. I personally liked to watch this. Something like this is good for AS and it has a bright future. You can't even tell if it's good or bad without watching a full series if it ever becomes a thing. This short is already popular with over a million views on YouTube so I'm sure most people are looking forward to it.
I don't think people need to watch a full series to know if they don't like this premise or don't find the trailer particularly compelling. It's perfectly fine to like what they showed in this video, but it's also fine to not like it. I'm sure that plenty of people are excited for this to possibly be an actual series and it may be more effective than what effectively feels more like a trailer than anything else, but my first impression is that it isn't going to have more going for it than the shock value of having a horror themed crossover.

I wonder if the glitch will affect other AS shows. Of course, Rick and Morty is the obvious one, but I could also see it affecting Squidbillies, Mr. Pickles, the Aqua Teens, Tuca and Bertie (if they thought the moss and flood was bad,,), Birdgirl, and others.

Learning with Pibby (Apocalypse): or as I call it, "Get ready to ruin your childhood (in a fun way!).

Let's just be honest here. And I mean brutally honest. How many times have we seen people "Ruin our childhood" and in a not so nice way. I mean this is something that everyone tries to do. But with Pibby, she ruins all of our childhoods, in a funny fresh way.

Pibby is a cute "Happy Tree Friends" kind of Character and this show is more like what you would see if you were living back in the late 60's or early 70's but in a more modern way. (Think the original Sesame Street if you know what I mean). But as you watch the trailer in just 23 seconds (yes 23 seconds!) Pibby goes from cute and child like to something rather, (As Buttercup from the Power Puff Girls would say) "Hardcore." and already I know what some folks are thinking.. "WHAT THE F?" but let's get back to the fun, shall we?

Pibby's cute and clean kid like Innocence is started to be corrupted when a "Glitch" of somesort manifests itself on Pibby's show and starts attacking her friends , especially her closest friend Bun-Bun. And after the Glitch gobbles up Bun Bun, well the show goes full blown hardcore.. (Everything but rule 34 here Hardcore). There's blood, violence, more Blood, More violence, a few soft spot moments and then more violence still. And no child hood (and I mean NONE) are safe for the Glitch.. Scooby Doo? Trashed. The Flintstones? Trashed. The Jetsons, Trashed. Gumball? Trashed. Courage the Cowardly Dog? Trashed. Ed Edd, And Eddy? Trashed.
And as we go on the body count gets higher and higher.. Even more modern day shows like Steven Universe, and Adventure Time get Trashed.

Which then brings up an interesting point.. where the heck did this "Glitch" come from?

The answer might surprise you, and in fact one Pibby Theorist (Pibby-ist?) summed it up that the Glitch came from some where Here's a hint. It came from one of the above shows I mentioned. One that was trashed. Let's just say it's one of the more modern ones.. But still it's just a theory.. A FILM... no wait that's copyrighted... Curse you Matpat.

But when you see just 2 minutes and 30 seconds of this video and this is just a teaser.. I shudder to think what might happen if this does get greenlit.. It will be the funniest, most hilarious way to write off cartoons. without bothering to explain why.

And the final few moments of the trailer points out other things.. Like Speed Racer, Rocko's Modern Life, Spongebob Square Pants, and yes Dare I say it.. Samurai Jack.. (Though I wish Adult swim had taken and had Gendy Tartikovsky, go back in and redo the entire Jack series so that it reflected Season 5 of the series..

But you get the idea... This show definitely isn't for kids. Think of it as a way that the viewers have finally come in and taken back the "Kid Like Atmosphere" that today's shows are like.. Family Friendly, cutesy, and above all there's a lesson here.. And Learning with Pibby teaches on you thing..

Cartoons were never made for Kids.. Period.. These cartoons were made with Adults in mind.. Pure, simple, to the point. Learning with Pibby allows us to go back and look at the old stuff, while cherishing the new. and to cherish the old shows as well (I Bet no one under the age of 30 knows that the Flintstones and Jetsons were cartoons.. (Shut up boomer!). But you get the idea.. this takes a show like Sesame Street, and turns it into Batman the Animated Series.. Something Dark and foreboding. This isn't your family kid friendly fare of the 1980's with their Giant Robots (and where the heck is MEGAS XLR in all of this?!!! This is some gritty stuff... and this means one thing.. The Apocalypse is coming.. and maybe Cartoon Network is giving us the middle finger one last time.. Or not..Depends on whether you are a kid, or a kid at heart.. If you're "Just a kid" then stay off of Rule 34. If you are a kid at heart.. Visit it.. but then let's get off Rule 34 shall we?

But Pibby is in fact a fresh laugh at the expense of older cartoons. I mean when you have a sidekick like "Beta Boy" and a villainess like (The Ursula looking Cat anthromorph). It makes you wonder how many shots the creator is taking here.. from what i can tell he's holding back nothing and giving all the companies out there the biggest middle finger on the planet.. and you know what? I love it.. After all if you think Space Jam 2 was good and funny. Pibby takes it to the extreme.. and yes I mean Hardcore extreme. That's what makes this little teaser a bit of a hope that we can all sit back and give Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and even the dreaded house of Mouse and give them all the finger.. right in their money grubbing eyes.. because Cartoons are supposed to make us laugh and make us feel like a kid again.. and in this Case.. Pibby has gone full circle and have thrown a pie right into Cartoon Network (and the rest's ) face..

If it does get greelit, then get ready for the hilarity to begin.. or to quote a line from a 1960's movie.. THROW MORE PIES!

Okay that' it from me, a humorous look into Learning with Pibby.. And believe me, we best strap ourselves in nice and tight, cause if this does get green lit , then the world will never be the same again.. cause Cartoon Apocalypse isn't the end, but rather, the beginning.. of a fresh new start. No more kiddie fare. Time to grow up junior.

Hard pass.

I'm so tired of people thinking that cartoons need to "go dark" instead of making them more entertaining. Everything about Learning with Pibby comes off as being either obnoxious, mean spirited and pointlessly violent or a desperate attempt to seem "edgy". It looks like there's no enjoyment to this beyond seeing cartoon characters that we know getting bullied, tortured and mutilated, and that shock value is all that there is to this. Shock isn't a substitute for genuine entertainment, nor is over the top violence, blood and gore a substitute for good writing and decent character development. I get that Adult Swim needs a new shock show now that Family Guy is gone, but this sort of thing isn't going to bring me back to the block. Learning with Pibby might be successful with the "heavy metal" of "grimdark" audience, but it's not for me.

I dont see this as some "lets kill cartoon characters" deal. Rather, I think Pibby and the rest are trying to save the Cartoon Network multiverse, remember, we see a shot of several characters fighting the glitch. I'm sure their goal is to heal the characters who've been glitched. This isnt Robot Chicken or anything like that. Heck, there's a Bugs Bunny cartoon (Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers) that has a very similar concept (and that one ALSO had Jeff Bergman).

I have a feeling that this show will be a love it or hate it show if picked up for a full series.

The show looks pretty good in the trailer. I like the crossover backgrounds and characters.

I understand but that two minute trailer made it look like it would be a character journey for the three main characters as much as it would be a shock value horror. Plus if that trailer say hints at the whole season with the final scene indicating what happens at the end, then it looks like the existing cartoon characters won't just show up to become zombies but some will survive to participate in some final battle. It does seem like there is more to it then just shock horror. But that's just me.

Pretty much THIS. Nostalgia hooks in general do little to nothing for me. I would prefer if Final Space got a 4th season instead, honestly. Alongside Tuca and Bertie getting a third, for something that is at least going right around here, IMHO.

I was thinking, maybe this will be Adult Swim's way of celebrating CN's 30th anniversary in 2022. I dont see this as a series though, more like a special or miniseries (there's not much you can do with the concept once the glitch is stopped).

Speaking of CN's upcoming 30th anniversary, do you think they'll do anything special to celebrate it like they did back in 2012?

Learning With Pibby

That really creeped and freaked me out. A lot of people are clamoring for this Adult Swim short trailer to be turned into a series but I don't see any way it could feasibly do that. If it WAS a real trailer, I'd be appalled but take a wait-and-see approach. Knowing it's just a gag weirdly makes me angry instead. And I'm not sure why. **1/2.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.

Conflicted about the upcoming film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, given the creator now distancing herself from it despite co-writing the screenplay and blocking one of the actresses on social media despite defending her casting in the film.
