Do you guys remember before when someone posted information about all the types of kryptonite and their affects? I've looked all over for it and I cannot find it. If anyone knows all the kinds of kryptonite could you please tell me? Thanks.

Eh, I am not sure which board this thread was in (CBC, Here or Entertainment) and since I'm not in the mood to search through the forums, I'll just pop out my trusty latest issue of Wizard and ...ah, here we go.

Anti-Kryptonite: Kills non-powered Kryptonians
Blue: Bizarro kryptonite that only effects Bizarros
Gold: Takes away Kryptonions' powers permanently
Green: Kills Kryptonions
Jewel: Allows the Phantom Zoners to cause explosions in the outside world
Red: Has a different effect every time
Silver: A fake Kryptonite Jimmy Olsen invited
White: Destroys plant life
X-Kryptonite: Gives Terrans Kryptonion powers for a limited time
Yellow: A fake Kryptonite invented by Lex Luthor

Given, I got this out of Wizard, and it might not be what you are looking for. But I tried, so I rule for that. O_o;

Krytonite Trivia

Here's what I know:

Anti-Kryptonite has no effect on superpowered Kryptonians, but has the same effects as green Kryptonite on non-superpowered Kryptonians. It first appearance not in a comic story, but in the letters page of Action 317 -- to explain why the Kryptonite under Argo City affected it’s inhabitants.

Blue Kryptonite affects only Bizarros because it was created by using Professor Potter's "duplicator ray" (which created Bizarro) on some Green Kryptonite. Makes sense...

Red Kryptonite originally appeared in Adventure Comics 252 as a substance “100 times stronger” than Green Kryptonite. When it appeared again in Adventure Comics 255, it started producing the “unpredicatable” (mostly transformation) effects. It was revealed later that Red Kryptonite is created from green Kryptonite that passed through a mysterious red-hued cloud on its way to Earth. Other interesting facts: Each specific chunk of red Kryptonite has the same effect on all Kryptonians, but no two chunks have the same effect as one another; and Red-K effects typically last for 1-2 days, after which the exposed Kryptonian is forevermore immune to that specific chunk of Red Kryptonite.

Gold Kryptonite first appeared in an imaginary tale in Adventure Comics 299, “The Unwanted Superbaby." The end of that story promised that gold kryptonite would appear in the Superman mythos for real. This happened in Superman 157, “The Super-Revenge of the Phantom Zone Prisoner.” The prisoner was Quex-Ul, who meant to use the Gold-K on Superman but accidentally exposed himself to it, which robbed him of his powers and memory (he would get both back in the Phantom Zone mini-series publisked in the 80s.) It was later revealed in Superman 177 that Gold Kryptonite is created by exposing Red-K to high levels of atomic radiation. According to the continuation of the story, in Superman 179, Gold-K is sentient, and is terribly worried about removing Superman’s powers... (I'm not making this up.)

Jewel Kryptonite was the 6th form of Kryptonite discovered (“Secret of Kryptonite Six” Action Comics 310), which was a piece on the Jeweled Mountains of Krypton. It actually amplifies the psionic powers of Phantom Zone residents, allowing them to project illusions into the "real world" or perform mind-control, which was used to set off the explosions mentioned earlier.

White Kryptonite first appeared in Adventure Comics 279, in a tale that took place in the far future where people thought Superboy was a myth. It’s existence proved that Krypton, and thus Superboy, really existed.

X-Kryptonite was created by Supergirl in Action Comics 261 while trying to find an antidote to Green Kryptonite. It bestows temporary superpowers on Earth lifeforms, like Supergirl's pet cat Streaky.

Silver Kryptonite appeared in Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen 70. It was a hollow trophy that contained silver lifelike masks of Jimmy Olsen, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Lori Lemaris, Perry White, and Lana Lang. The masks were formed by pouring molten silver over the faces of six members of the Kandor Look-Alike Squad (who resemble Superman’s friends… this was the 60s, after all). Talk about exfoliation…

And then there was “Slow Kryptonite,” a modified variety of Green Kryptonite created by an Earth scientist (in an “unrepeatable experiment” -- don’t you love those?) to slow down the speed of nerve impulses and movements of Kryptonians to that of Earth people. It also affects Earth people as Green-K affects Kryptonians.

I recall a little bit of the Luthor "Yellow Kryptonite" hoax... I definitely remember the hoax bounced back on Luthor, as he was exposing the Yellow-K to a Superman robot. I'll have to dig through my back-issues...

I think this should be moved to comic book culture because in the DCUA there is only Green K.

And I hope it stays that way too... the last thing I want to see is Superman growing extra arms and legs on "Justice League". Leave the multi-colored Kryptonite to "Super Friends" lore...

Great list, DarkLantern, but you kinda missed one. If you want to get really technical, there are two forms of red kryptonite. The one you mention is the "pre-Crisis" version - the one that gives Superman extra arms or an ant's head. There's also a "post-Crisis" version, however (and I'm not talking about the one conjured up by Mr. Mxyzptlk for Luthor in one of the early 1980 issues).

In Tower of Babel, red kryptonite is a piece of green kryptonite that Batman tinkered with in order to use it as a non-lethal weapon against Superman. As Talia put it:

[Batman] managed to accelerate its radioactive half-life - as indicated by its color-shift. His idea was to make it less lethal, but still crippling to the Kryptonian physiology. To discover what sort of unpredictable changes it might wreak on you cellular structure. According to his notes, it may not kill you, but you'll wish you were dead.

In the issue it made his skin transparent, allowing the solar energy to be absorbed directly into his body and causing excruciating pain (without his super-skin to deflect or filter the energy, it burned his insides).

Ok, yeah, that's one of those posts you just shouldn't read right after breakfast. *turns all shades of green*
