Heroes: 3x07 Eris Quod Sum Review
Overall Thoughts:
Episode 7 got me excited about Heroes again. Though I wasn’t calling Volume Three jumping the shark like most people, but the pacing was too fast for me and I was wondering if Kring could recapture the vibe of Volume One.
The Dissection:
-Peter Petrelli
On of the sub-plots that made me raise my arms in the air was Peter losing his powers (just when he starts using them simultaneously). I’m just betting it will pay off sooner or later. The producers have said that Arthur’s powers can’t work in reverse but I think there is at least two ways to solve Peter’s dilemma 1) The synthetic ability injection or 2) A new character with the power to bestow/activate abilities in people.
Peter’s dream reminded me of Volume One when he was in a coma from absorbing too much abilities at once. But was it a regular dream like you and me or was Angela reaching out to him like how she reached out to Sylar? Hmm…
-Arthur Petrelli
So if his intention isn’t to give powers to everyone, what is it? Revenge? The writers need to start playing up the impending catastrophe that Usutu painted an Hiro saw.
My theory on Arthur is that he would have been too much trouble to include on the Election Day explosion so Daniel Linderman, Bob Bishop, and Angela Petrelli plotted to have him killed. Except it didn’t take (Petrelli’s are pretty hard to kill overall) and he took sanctuary with Pinehearst, whom he funded and took over in secret from the others in the founder’s circle.
I still don’t see why Adam Monroe had to die. That was his mentor who had nothing to do with the plot to kill him. Arthur could have just kidnapped Claire.
-Elle Bishop
Always great to have her back. The past two online graphic novels involved her. She was in London trying to figure out what was wrong with her powers. And her mentor? Claude. I hope he appears on the show again, soon.
It seems like Bob may have used the synthetic injection on her, too? I still don’t get what is happening to her powers along with Claire’s numbness. I guess surviving Sylar has more than psychological implications.
-Maya Herrera
The best thing to happen to Maya: lose her powers and leaving the show. I never got attached to the character.
-Mohinder Suresh
After everything, he still wants his ability. Is it not time for him to die?
-Angela Petrelli
Not even a telepathic-induced coma can keep her from weaving her agenda! Her pep talk to Sylar had me thinking, “You don’t know the half of what you’re capable of.” Talk about a role reversal with Peter from Volume One. Angela uses one son as a weapon.
-Maury Parkman
Totally surprised that deep down, Maury still cared about Matt and made a devil’s deal with Arthur. The founder’s circle gets smaller and smaller. Here’s to flashback episodes and graphic novels!
-Matt Parkman
Matt is growing on me. His “stand up” with the Tortoise, his face to face with Daphne and fooling Knox were pretty cool in my book.
-Nathan Petrelli and Tracy Strauss
Great couple, but not to bright. Instead of going with Noah to test what Mohinder injected into them, they are going to Pinehearst.
-Hiro Nakamura
It was rather interesting that Matt previously was witness to the future and now Hiro will be a witness of the past (some old-school Company antics?). I hope the next episode was as great as “Company Man” was.
