Heroes "Eris Quod Sum" Talkback (Spoilers)

So, if that's true, that would make him the...son in law of Arthur Petrelli?
Meredith is not married to Peter, Nathan, or Gabriel at all. Thus her brother be it Flint or some other hot head can not be Arthur Petrelli's son-in-law.

A Heroes rating update and it's not good. After the series low 8.21 million viewers for episode 4 this season and the slight rebound in the two episodes following, Heroes has once again hit an all-time series low, but still won it's timeslot for the 18-34 demo.

Episode 3.4- 5.0 (8.21 million)
Episode 3.5- 5.2 (8.63 million)
Episode 3.6- 5.1 (8.46 million)
Episode 3.7- (8.15 million)

Entertainment Weekly's feature article this week is their suggestions on how to "fix" Heroes. It's a well thought out read and because of the well known name of the magaize, Tim Kring and company are bound to read it. Read it all here http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20235213,00.html

Part of the problem this year has been decreased viewership across the board, both on network TV in general and on NBC. Both Heroes's lead-in, Chuck, and its lead-out, My Own Worst Enemy, are down in comparison to last year's numbers for those timeslots. If you look at the ratings in terms of how Heroes is doing relative it its competatitors (both on other networks and on the same network), there is less of a decline than if you compare to previous years. In other words, part of the problem is that people aren't watching TV and, when they are, it isn't NBC.

That said, the ratings are still down even after controlling for these factors. I'm not as worried about cancellation as others are, as Heroes still has decent ratings, worldwide interest, and lots of merchandice that's selling. Universal will want to keep it around for awhile. So, if nothing else, Kring as some time to get fans back on board. I mean, if Knight Rider got picked up for a full season last week, you know NBC will be keeping Heroes for awhile...

The highlight of the episode was definately Mohinder trying to savagely beat down Sylar! That was a long time coming. Too bad it was so brief....

But at that point I couldn't really root for Mohinder anymore because he had lost the moral high ground and thru his actions became just as guilty as Sylar.

Meredith is not married to Peter, Nathan, or Gabriel at all. Thus her brother be it Flint or some other hot head can not be Arthur Petrelli's son-in-law.

I'm not sure what to call him then, but they are related, by blood, thru Claire right?

How come the fact that Arthur now has Sylar's "thirst" hasn't come up yet? I hope they acknowledge it in future eps. when he and Sylar are interacting.

They are not related by blood at all. That would require that the Gordons & the Petrellis have an ancestor that both families come from.

For instance Great Great Great Great Great Grandpa Petrelli had a son & a daughter. The Daughter goes on to marry a man whose last name is Gordon and she changes her last name to match her husband's. While the son retains his. Then and only then will they be related by blood, as for the title in regards to their familial relationship it would not end with in-law becauses that requires marriage to a Petrelli son alive today.

Also just because Meredith was a slut and Nathan a two timing bastard that resulted in Claire doesn't mean they get special titles that end with in-law. Call him Meredith's brother until a name is given.

How come the fact that Arthur now has Sylar's "thirst" hasn't come up yet? I hope they acknowledge it in future eps. when he and Sylar are interacting.
There is no thirst. It is called hunger. Sylar said so himself.

It's just like Peter. Peter had the ability since his first encounter with Sylar. He couldn't use it until he was taught how. Arthur now has it, but has not been taught how to use it. Since you don't get the hunger until you know how to use the power why would Arthur have the hunger at all?

Good to see Elle back, and Sylar continues to carry this show this season. But the rollercoaster of a season continues. I kind of rolled my eyes that they're doing another origins episode( why do we need another one ) but seeing as this episode wasn't so hot, this next one probably will, seeing as the pattern for this season for me is one episode good, next bad, and repeat.

The difference being...??

Peter's not that bright. His father has proven to be quite intelligent. Maybe he won't need to be taught about the "hunger". Instead, in his case, it could arise from a basic need to seize unlimited power and rule the world or some other meglomanical villainous desire.

Accuracy.

He doesn't need to tap into Sylar's ability. He has two other non-lethal means of acquiring powers and as you said he is a lot more intelligent so he doesn't need Sylar's power to see how things will work out or whatever FPeter said to his present self.

EDIT: The writers for Dying of the Light have stated without a shred of doubt have stated that Arthur does not have The Hunger. Either that means he doesn't have Sylar's power or Sylar's power doesn't gurantee one is going to get the hunger.

That's what I mean by a "flashback" episode: an episode that is set in the past.
When someone says, "flashback episode", I think of a clipshow of previous episodes. The preview doesn't look like a clipshow.

Heroes: 3x07 Eris Quod Sum Review

Overall Thoughts:

Episode 7 got me excited about Heroes again. Though I wasn’t calling Volume Three jumping the shark like most people, but the pacing was too fast for me and I was wondering if Kring could recapture the vibe of Volume One.

The Dissection:

-Peter Petrelli

On of the sub-plots that made me raise my arms in the air was Peter losing his powers (just when he starts using them simultaneously). I’m just betting it will pay off sooner or later. The producers have said that Arthur’s powers can’t work in reverse but I think there is at least two ways to solve Peter’s dilemma 1) The synthetic ability injection or 2) A new character with the power to bestow/activate abilities in people.

Peter’s dream reminded me of Volume One when he was in a coma from absorbing too much abilities at once. But was it a regular dream like you and me or was Angela reaching out to him like how she reached out to Sylar? Hmm…

-Arthur Petrelli

So if his intention isn’t to give powers to everyone, what is it? Revenge? The writers need to start playing up the impending catastrophe that Usutu painted an Hiro saw.

My theory on Arthur is that he would have been too much trouble to include on the Election Day explosion so Daniel Linderman, Bob Bishop, and Angela Petrelli plotted to have him killed. Except it didn’t take (Petrelli’s are pretty hard to kill overall) and he took sanctuary with Pinehearst, whom he funded and took over in secret from the others in the founder’s circle.

I still don’t see why Adam Monroe had to die. That was his mentor who had nothing to do with the plot to kill him. Arthur could have just kidnapped Claire.

-Elle Bishop

Always great to have her back. The past two online graphic novels involved her. She was in London trying to figure out what was wrong with her powers. And her mentor? Claude. I hope he appears on the show again, soon.

It seems like Bob may have used the synthetic injection on her, too? I still don’t get what is happening to her powers along with Claire’s numbness. I guess surviving Sylar has more than psychological implications.

-Maya Herrera

The best thing to happen to Maya: lose her powers and leaving the show. I never got attached to the character.

-Mohinder Suresh

After everything, he still wants his ability. Is it not time for him to die?

-Angela Petrelli

Not even a telepathic-induced coma can keep her from weaving her agenda! Her pep talk to Sylar had me thinking, “You don’t know the half of what you’re capable of.” Talk about a role reversal with Peter from Volume One. Angela uses one son as a weapon.

-Maury Parkman

Totally surprised that deep down, Maury still cared about Matt and made a devil’s deal with Arthur. The founder’s circle gets smaller and smaller. Here’s to flashback episodes and graphic novels!

-Matt Parkman

Matt is growing on me. His “stand up” with the Tortoise, his face to face with Daphne and fooling Knox were pretty cool in my book.

-Nathan Petrelli and Tracy Strauss

Great couple, but not to bright. Instead of going with Noah to test what Mohinder injected into them, they are going to Pinehearst.

-Hiro Nakamura

It was rather interesting that Matt previously was witness to the future and now Hiro will be a witness of the past (some old-school Company antics?). I hope the next episode was as great as “Company Man” was.

Accuracy.

It's semantics. What does it matter if I don't use the exact word from the show? The two are synonymous?

He doesn't need to tap into Sylar's ability. He has two other non-lethal means of acquiring powers and as you said he is a lot more intelligent so he doesn't need Sylar's power to see how things will work out or whatever FPeter said to his present self.

EDIT: The writers for Dying of the Light have stated without a shred of doubt have stated that Arthur does not have The Hunger. Either that means he doesn't have Sylar's power or Sylar's power doesn't gurantee one is going to get the hunger.

There's a certain logic that has to flow from the narrative of any given story for it to make any kind of sense. If season 3 is trying to get the audience to buy into Sylar's possible redemption because his abilities made him the monster he was and it's now a daily struggle to fight the urge to kill, then if someone else gets his abilitie there must be an equal or greater struggle as well. Or else Sylar's not a hero at all as the show currently wants the audience to believe, he's just weak.

Peter had to fight that temptation and so should his father now that he has it or what's the point of the events pertaining to Sylar in "I Am Become Death"?

And who knows, maybe the father does have the hunger. He's just not struggling with it because it's his normal state to use others and take what they have for his own purposes. He's already an evil bastard so "the hunger" is not so much this terrible curse, but just a scar on an already scorched soul.

Also just because Meredith was a slut and Nathan a two timing bastard that resulted in Claire doesn't mean they get special titles that end with in-law. Call him Meredith's brother until a name is given.

Jeez, man. All they did was have carnal relations out of wedlock. I highly doubt it was a one-night stand. And I doubt that Nathan was dating anyone at the time. (Though it wouldn't surprise me if he was, seeing as how he slept with Jessica, but I doubt it was Heidi he was dating at the time he conceived Claire if he was dating anyone.)

He was married at the time. That makes him a two-timing bastard and any female who sleeps with him a slut.

The rest of the heroes should also be worried that Arthur now has the power to go nuclear and survive it. So if they ever manage to back him into a corner he's definitely proven to be ruthless and coldhearted enough to take out a major city full of people just so he could live to fight another day.

Would've been nice if the "one of us" in the phrase "One of Us, One of Them", was the guy who could create black holes out of thin air wouldn't it? Yea I'm glaring at you, HRG.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
