Hell, I tihnk Every Popular cartoon has had at least ONE token Scottish character.

Don't people making cartoons realize that giving cartoon characters Scottish accents is not funny and a really bad idea? Giving Characters Scottish accents is like making Cartoon Characters idiots; it's funny for a while, but hten it gets irritating. And if i hear a cartoon character say "Laddie" ever again, i will go insane.

Cause Hudson, Macbeth, the Canmores and all those other Scottish characters on Gargoyles sounded like idiots.

I rather like Scottish accents.

Mike tried out the new accent for Shrek, feeling that it fit better-- and went back and re-recorded ALL his lines for it.

I think it works quite well and I like it a lot.

The New Crappy show from Nick called Cat scratch; one of the cats has a scottish accent.

There's a running gag in the 1999 version of The Woody Woodpecker Show regarding Woody's Scottish heritage - getting all excited about "the HEE-Land Games" for example.

Do Scottish accents make a character funny? Or are they there to poke fun at a stereotype that Scots are supposed to be jerks?

There is only one Scottish accent I liked in a cartoon character: Paladin Anderson from Hellsing and that's it.

Numbah 86, Scotsman from Samurai Jack, Rumpold Kiltskin from Courage, Scotsman from Billy & Mandy, beavers from I Am Weasel... some of those characters are quite bit annoying, but I love Scottish accents in cartoons!

I love Scrooge McDuck and Groundskeeper Willy. The Scottsman and Shrek are cool too. I do hate the dog on Juniper Lee though and that girl from KND is pretty annoying. IMO, any accent can be annoying if done wrong and for an unfunny character.

We have a lot more characters with American accents, I'd say. We need to stop that immediately. From now on, all cartoon characters should speak French. I mean freedom. They should speak freedom.

To answer the initial question: maybe you have, but I don't mind very much.

And don't hate on Monroe (the dog from 'Juniper Lee'). If anything, the accent is part of what makes him endearing.

So how's the weather in Glasgow, Leviathan? :p

Scottish accents are okay by me, but a little variety would be nice. I think more Italian and Russian accents are in order. French accents are sooo fifteen minutes ago.

Roddy MacStew was voiced none other by Craig Ferguson!

That Trident Chewing Gum would beg to differ.

Depends on the character. If it looks like they just stuck it in for no reason then it is really weird and can get annoying. If its for comedy or situational, then I find it ok.

i hear american all day for the past 21 years, i like my english with a little touch of foreign accent in it. actually makes it sound cooler.

Yeah, but not the same foreign accents.

ACCENT(S) THAT ARE OVERUSED

Scottish (more like just Jeff Glen Bennett; he's cornered that market for sure)

And, that's about it.

Now, if we got a bit more diversity with our shows, I'd be happy. There's the whole Eastern world to exploit.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
