Hasbro and Get After It Media (formerly Luken Communications) announced today that they will be launching a Over-the-air (OTA) and Free Ad Supported Television (FAST) Network called "Hasbro Legends." The new network will consist of shows and classic Hasbro cartoons such as Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, Jem and the Holograms, My Little Pony, and Transformers. Considering Get After It Media is known for leasing the cheapest Low-Power TV stations they can find for their networks including Retro TV and The Family Channel, not sure how well this will work out. Maybe with Hasbro they might be able to get better affiliates then their other networks. Keep in mind, the PBJ Network Luken had with Classic Media was never widely available for this reason. Press Release below.

HASBRO ENTERTAINMENT AND GET AFTER IT MEDIA LAUNCH "HASBRO LEGENDS" CHANNEL TO OVER 70 MILLION HOMES ACROSS
BURBANK, CA – April 13 – Hasbro Entertainment, Hasbro’s content arm leveraging its iconic brands and IP across film, television, animation and digital, and Get After It Media (GAIM), a multi-platform broadcast and streaming company, today announced a deal to launch Hasbro Legends, a new linear channel bringing Hasbro’s iconic brands to U.S. broadcast television at scale.

Hasbro Legends will debut across GAIM’s national broadcast footprint, reaching more than 70 million homes across the U.S. launch, with additional distribution to come across streaming platforms, including GAIM’s upcoming owned and operated digital ecosystem, Heartland+. With a portfolio of legendary franchises that have shaped generations across toys, games, television, and film, Hasbro’s beloved characters and stories will reach even more American audiences through the brand-new broadcast channel.

“This is what happens when my inner kid/fan takes over—and I love it,” said Otto Padrón, Co-President/COO of GAIM. “We are beyond honored and thrilled to team up with Hasbro. I grew up with G.I. JOE and POWER RANGERS, and now we get to bring these legendary brands to broadcast television at scale.”

Joel Wertman, Co-President and CEO of GAIM added: “We’re not just launching a channel—we’re building the next generation of monetization. This is an omnichannel exchange that allows buyers to transact linear and CTV together. We’re on the cutting edge of automating planning, proposals, and buying across multiple stations—bringing real efficiency and ease of execution to the market. This is where ad tech is going.”

“Our focus is on meeting audiences where they are and how they consume content today,” said Yannick Ferrero, SVP, Content Distribution & Digital at Hasbro Entertainment. “With Hasbro Legends, we’re bringing our brands to broadcast at scale, reaching new audiences and creating opportunities for partners across linear and digital platforms.”

The Hasbro Legends channel will feature programming derived from Hasbro’s extensive intellectual property portfolio, with a focus on fan-favorite, classic series from heritage brands like G.I. JOE, JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS, MY LITTLE PONY, POWER RANGERS and TRANSFORMERS.

GAIM will manage distribution and monetization across both over-the-air (OTA) and free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) environments, creating a unified ecosystem designed to maximize reach, engagement, and advertiser access within a single operating framework.

EDIT: I guess it could also be noted that Get After It Media did recently apply to move 26 of its O&O Low-Power TV Stations (which they bought from TBN many years ago) from rural areas to major cities after the FCC changed its rules to allows TV Stations to be moved bigger distances.

Beautiful news to wake up to! And its NOT APRIL FOOLS! I think this will do at least better than most kids channels because cable is in the gutter. It was about time someone other than Wiegel tried this.

Is Hasbro Legends is gonna have Littlest Pet Shop 2012 and My Little Pony Friendship is Magic?

Don't know yet. We only know the shows listed in the Press Release and you can probably guess some of the other shows based on the Prime Video and Roku Channel FAST Channel version.

I take it Duel Masters is probably too much to ask for? They didn't even dig it up for The Hub.

This is apparently the next step to get all of Hasbro's shows out of Discovery Family for good and move them to a much cheaper network for us.
Those shows are probably still pledged to Discovery Family.
Not for long, though!

I believe Duel Masters has already been airing on the FAST Channel version of Hasbro Legends.

An overly repetitive FAST channel is nothing new, but I don't know if Hasbro has the library to make a proper linear channel work - especially if it's limited to things that are at least a decade old. Maybe it'll convince someone at that company to get the rights to the bits and pieces of their franchises they're missing (GI Joe Extreme comes to mind)? Probably not.

That's actually surprising. So there'll possibly be more anime OTA after all...

I wonder if they will air other cartoons and anime, because they cant make a 24 hour channel with just Hasbro stuff.

I knew it would be a matter of time until companies tried to do animation or kids show digital subchannel and I WAS RIGHT. I hope this is a success or at least if it fails wont be the last serious Me TV Toons competitor.

The first shows that will most likely go over-the-air are those from the '80s and '90s. Later shows will more likely begin airing in the future.

There's zero evidence that's the reason. It could also be for another undisclosed reason.

The fact is none of the older shows are currently airing on Discovery Family. This will be a place for those shows, and it could coexist with the rerun farm for some time.

For those wondering whats the Hasbro Legends logo looks like, so here it is.

"LEGENDS" text is based on logos of 7 well-known Hasbro franchises (like Power Rangers, Transformers, G.I. Joe and My Little Pony)

Is that Joan Cusack voicing Jessie in that Toy Story Papa John's commercial? If so, it sounds rough. Woundn't surprise me if it wasn't, though.
