Fantasy Anime Dub Casting Thread

You know how Tetsuya Kakihara voices Natsu? Well, how about a Fairy Tail dub with Yuri Lowenthal as Natsu? Natsu has a "hot-blooded" voice similar to that other character Kakihara is known for (you know, the one with "the drill that will pierce the heavens"). Further, how about Kyle Hebert playing Laxus?...
I'm happy with the choices I have so far. If you have any suggestions for spots I've left blank, and the people aren't already in other roles on my list, I'm sure I'll take them. As much as I love Gurren Lagann in both Japanese and English, I don't feel like the Fairy Tail dub needs to mirror the Gurren Lagann dub.

Unless you were just saying that in general, in which case I'd encourage you do make your own dub. I'd be interested to see what other people come up with (and if anyone does one for New York or Canada, I could steal their choices for the ones I left blank).

My personal pick for an NY Fairy Tail dub:

Natsu- Micheal Sinterkass
Lucy: Veronica Taylor
Happy: Lisa Ortiz
Gray: Greg Abbey
Erza: Bella Hudson
Gajeel: Dan Green
Jellal: Marc Dirason

I'll add more later.

Nice choices, especially that first one. ;) But come on now, his full name is written out at least six times in that one post of mine and you spell both his first and last name wrong? :p The only problem is that you didn't cast anyone I couldn't think of VAs for, so I don't get to steal any of them.

Now that it's announced...

Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi dub cast (or Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals or Sealed Blade, etc.).

After looking at one of the way earlier posts on the dub cast for Blazing Swords, I decided to create a dub cast for its sequel.

Here's the dub cast for one of my favorite Fire Emblem games, Fūin no Tsurugi, or Sealed Blade. Wish this game gets an official re-release for North America or an anime adaption (sorry the cast does not include the characters from the manga).

Due to the very nature of the series, most of the voice actors listed voices more than one character (listed somewhat in appearance order):

Roy-James Arnold Taylor
Lilina- Hynden Walch (thinking of a Starfire/Talim type voice here)
Marcus- Steve Blum
Alan- Greg Cipes
Lance- Yuri Lowenthal
Bors- Steve Blum
Wolt- Bryce Papenbrook
Eliwood- Richard Epcar (Yuri Lowenthal for his younger version from the prequel)
Ellen- Kari Wahlgren
Merlinus-Tony Oliver
Guinevere-Kari Wahlgren
Dieck-Steve Staley
Lot-Yuri Lowenthal
Ward- Doug Erholtz
Thany- Lara Jill Miller
Hector- Tony Oliver (Doug Erholtz for his younger version from the prequel)
Chad- Crispin Freeman
Lugh- Derek Stephen Prince
Zephiel-Michael McConnohie (Derek Stephen Prince for the younger version in the prequel)
Narshen- Liam O'Brien
Clarine- Cristina Valenzuela
Rutger- Johnny Yong Bosch
Saul- Sam Riegel
Dorothy- Megan Hollingshead
Sue- Mela Lee
Zealot- Steve Blum
Treck- Yuri Lowenthal
Noah- Dough Erholtz
Astol- Troy Baker
Leygance- Vic Mignogna
Wendy- Wendee Lee (just for pun :p)
Barth- Kirk Thornton
Oujay- Spike Spencer
Fir- Michelle Ruff
Shin- Johnny Yong Bosch
Gonzales- Kyle Hebert
Geese- Johnny Yong Bosch
Klein- Crispin Freeman
Tate- Laura Bailey
Echidna- Kate Higgins
Lalam- Michelle Ruff
Bartre- Travis Willingham
Elphin- Quinton Flynn
Alucard- David Lodge
Roartz- JB Blanc
Ray- Derek Stephen Prince
Cath- Melissa Fahn
Miledy- Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
Percival- British Crispin Freeman
Cecilia- Cindy Robinson
Sophia- Cassandra Lee
Igrene- Karen Strassman
Garret- Beau Billingslea
Fa- Stephanie Sheh
Hugh- Brian Beacock
Zeiss- Spike Spencer
Douglas- Jamieson Price
Modred- Steve Kramer
Niime- Philece Sampler
Dayan- Nolan North
Yuno- Bridget Hoffman
Murdock (a.k.a. MURDERDOCK :p)- Tony Oliver
Yodel- Steve Kramer
Gale- Johnny Yong Bosch
Brenya- Wendee Lee
Karel- Kirk Thornton
Yahn- Liam O'Brien
Idenn- Michelle Ruff

Wow . . . that was a long frickin' time ago when I made that. I had no idea people went back and looked at old posts like mine. I do realize I missed a name though when I made my old list: Isadora (her VA would be Laura Bailey).

I might revisit that old list soon, there's some changes I would make today. Karen Strassman would get a role, Kirk Thornton would be Canas instead of Vic Mignogna, Wendee Lee would lose one of her roles . . .

Thanks for the compliment. I think you might have already know this, but the sequel to Blazing Swords have much more characters. Noting that Sealed Sword was never released in the United States (despite fan translations), I'm hoping that the sequel to Blazing Swords would either have a remake of the game, or an anime adaption. I'm hoping an anime adaption of Sealed Sword because there isn't a lot of characterization in Blazing Swords (but noting that support conversations was a new concept back then).

Some of the casting a bit random (like Dorothy, Alucard, Roartz, Dayan, and Douglas. Others are a bit more selective. For example, Lilina really reminded me of Starfire from Teen Titans, and I want someone to pull off a cute, but mature, voice acting for Lilina. And since Starfire came into mind, I was thinking Lilina having a Stafire/Talim type voice, and thus Hynden Walch came into mind. I also have other ideas of having Hynden Walch using the Starfire/Talim type voice in other characters (Amelia from Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, Isumi Saginomiya from Hayate the Combat Butler, Suzu from Nagasarete Airantou to name a few).

Clarine has some tsundere-type personality, and Cristina Valenzuela always comes into mind when it comes to tsunderes. Shin reminded me a bit Itsuki Koizumi, so I was thinking of Johnny Yong Bosch pulling this character off with a Itsuki type voice. Likewise, Geese should have some sort of hot-blooded type voice, so I was thinking of Johnny Yong Bosch using his "heroic" voice. Rutger will be somewhere between Itsuki and the JYB's "heroic."

I could go on for hours and hours on this, but I'm going to create my variation of the Sealed Sword cast.

On You Tube, there are at least three videos that feature someone who may or not be Norio Wakamoto doing a rendition of "Giga Drill Breaker" complete with rolling r's (and which inexplicably has a censor beep during the "rea" in "Breaker"). For an English version, I envision either Frank Welker, Jim Cummings, Kevin Michael Richardson, or Jamieson Price.

It's Wakamoto.

No other man could be so manly.

Slayers (Ocean Group)

You know I always wonder what would happen if Central Park Media (and Funimation) had Slayers dub by Ocean Group. This is how it might have been cast.

Lina Inverse-Jocelyne Lowern or Nicole Oliver

Gourry Gabriev-Kirby Morrow or Ian James Cortlett

Zelgadis Greywords-Trevor Duvall or Alistair Abell

Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun-Tabitha st Germain, Chantel Strand, or Maggie Blue O'hara

Xellos-Brian Drummond

Naga the Serpernt-Saffron Henderson

Rezo the red Priest-Paul Dobson

Deltora Quest (Funimation dub):
Lief - Vic Mignogna
Jasmine - Colleen Clinkenbeard
Barda - Not really sure
Kree - Eric Vale (Or someone else)
Shadow Lord - Justin Cook

I might make one for Rave Master and Soul Eater but this'll do for now.

Very detailed list, but I don't know how possible this cast list would be if a Blazing Swords anime was made. If there was an anime made, though, it would likely be an adaptation of Blazing Swords because it's likely the most recognized Fire Emblem title worldwide. I do find it amusing, however, that we have the same choice for Lyndis. XD Make it happen, Nintendo.

There's some things I disagree with (I just don't see JYB as Jaffar, I've always though Jaffar would sound older and nastier than JYB's been known to manage), but there's other things I agree with.

Anyway, I'm revising my list, and it should be posted sometime tomorrow.

Well, JYB had voiced characters that are stoic and sinister, so I was thinking a mix of Rossiu and Izaya there. So I was thinking more of somethinf like a more stoic version of JYB's Izaya with Jaffar.

But I think you might agree on the choices with Linus and Lloyd. Imagine Linus Willingham yelling, "TINY MINISKIRTS!!"

Lol, there are two "Wil" here (the second one I know you are referring to the archer), do you mean "Kent" for the "Will" part?
