"El Muerto" News & Discussion (Spoilers)

Sigh.

I usually stay away from the SUMC threads because I usually only have negative things to say, but...

This truly feels like bottom of the barrel for the entire CBM genre. Like...Sony has the entire Spider-Man catalog (as far as I know) under their belt, and they choose this? A character who apparently hasn't even appeared in ten whole issues? I genuinely think that sometimes Sony leans into memes when it comes to their universe.

And if they want Latino rep, Miguel O'Hara is right there. Also, a rapper is the lead actor? Hopefully he can act.

I really don't want to be too harsh, but this may genuinely be the least hyped I have ever been for a superhero movie. I'd prefer an Aunt May film.

Thank goodness for Spider-Verse.

Yeah, um...this is a very Sony movie. Which is to say, kind of nuts o_O.
I didn't realize it was movie news until the 4th time I saw the article then I went:

Yeah, I cosign this. Absolutely no idea what Sony is smoking nowadays. The sad part is, some of their recent decisions were starting to make a little sense. Now. . .

Yeah, somehow I don't see this seeing the light of day :p.

Literally shows up in like, what, two issues? What were they gonna work with? Seemed like a weird vanity project for Bad Bunny. Not surprised if it's not getting made.

Maybe the box office for Madame Web will be a reality check.

I mean the box office would have to be HALF of what Morbius was... and then Kraven the Hunter would have to also hit that... as well as Venom 3 before I feel Sony would get like a "yeah we need to stop NOW" reality check.

I have to wonder though who exactly at Sony is still trying to kick this idea around though. A lot of these adjacent Spider Man related spin off films are bad ideas but at least they are either done with characters who have had at one point a decent fan base or at least are predicated on the idea of using some current super hero gimmick to give them general attention. Is Sony really trying to bank on a Latin american audience that badly especially without even the previous "star" they had attached to this project on one of the most Z list of all ever comic book characters? Like I do really want to understand the thought process of why this is still being discussed as an actual thing by anyone and see what sort of messed up mind set that person has.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
